Glorious comfort food

Fantastic burgers, smashed potatoes, battered shallots! Homemade hot sauce is perfect, as is the Cape Cod IPA, 6.3% VOL and so tasty.
Loved the excellent, friendly service too.
A must visit.

Pros: Food, Friendly service, Great beer

Fast service but just ok food

Most of it was not really hot. Cauliflower wss lacking taste and not cooked through, Beignets were almost burnt, fried veeery dark, so the taste was off. The portobello burger was a mess - weird styrofoam 'bread' and too soggy. Tacos were ok but cold and bland. Nothing wowed us unfortunately...

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback 🙏 We’re truly sorry that your experience didn’t meet your expectations.

Our tex-mex dishes are not meant to be particularly hot. They are designed to have cold fillings (salads, sauces, fresh toppings) with only the nuggets or oyster mushrooms served hot — this contrast is part of the way we build them 🌮
The toppings also rest on scarole, a slightly bitter, seasonal, organic and locally sourced lettuce 🥬

Our cauliflower skewers are intentionally slightly undercooked so they hold their shape on the BBQ and don’t fall apart 🔥

Our portobello burger is usually one of our best-sellers 🍔 and we’re sorry it didn’t work for you this time. It can happen, especially when the burger is cut in half, that the marinade and coleslaw sauce soak through the bottom bun more than intended. We apologize for that.

Regarding the beignets, please don’t hesitate to let one of our servers know next time — they’ll be more than happy to replace your dish with a fresh portion right away ✨

We hope to have the chance to welcome you again and offer you a better experience 💚

Kind regards,
The B.Better Team

Amazing food and service

Went here tonight and I really don't understand the less than five star reviews. I had the portobello burger with the smashed baby potatoes (the sauce with these YUM) and a Passion cocktail. Everything was absolutely delicious and the service was top notch. I hope to squeeze in another visit or two for my time in Paris, even if it's just for cocktails and dessert. Merci beaucoup B Better!

Pros: Flavourful food and cocktails, Excellent serive

Ok vegan food

This meal was nice but not the best vegan food in Paris. It’s good to have options and the chicken taco was good, but other dishes lacked flavour

Hi there 🌱

Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to share your thoughts 🙂

We’ve never claimed to be the best vegan food in Paris... just doing our best to serve honest, flavour-packed BBQ-style dishes made with seasonal, organic and local produce.

Sorry to hear that some of the dishes didn’t fully meet your expectations.

Our cooking changes slightly with what nature offers, but we always aim to make every plate as generous and tasty as possible... though it’s very rare for us to hear that something lacked flavour! 🥲

Glad you enjoyed the No-Chicken Tacos ; they’re one of our signature favourites.

You’re always welcome to come back and give us another try!

Charming Vegan Sidewalk Cafe

100% végétale!!! 100% vegan!!! Located in the 4th arrondissement in Paris, B.Better offers up 100% plant-based seasonal tapas, tacos, burgers, and desserts. Located on a quiet Parisian street right next to Le Village Saint-Paul in Le Marais, this charming sidewalk cafe is perfectly situated for people-watching in a neighborhood that began in the 13th century. With many small plate offerings, we sampled their “Buffalo” cauliflower with its fantastic dipping sauce and their marinated, barbecued broccoli skewers that were cooked perfectly. The mushroom tacos were incredibly flavorful and complex. The smashed baby potatoes delighted with their beyond-delicious vegan “Béarnaise” sauce. We love, love, loved the tempura green beans and the candied eggplant. And, the seasonal mushrooms flambéed with Cognac, shallots, vegan garlic “butter” were unbelievably rich in the French tradition. We ended our Parisian vegan meal with B. Better's fig crumble and the BBQ-roasted peaches, both beautifully presented and delicious. We received excellent and attentive service, too. We cannot wait to go back to try the things we missed on the menu. Merci, B.Better!!!!

Pros: Excellent, inventive food, It's a vegan Paris Cafe!, Did we mention, it's a vegan Paris Cafe!

Hoped for Better at B.Better 😅

I really wanted to like this place because of the great reviews, but unfortunately it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. The food was decent, just not very memorable, and the service could have been a bit warmer.

Well, that’s a headline we’ll take on the chin 😅

Though we couldn’t help noticing the photo you uploaded seems to date back quite a while (at least a year ago)… so maybe we weren’t that “not very memorable” after all 👀

Sorry to hear your visit didn’t quite live up to the hype — though our BBQ burgers and crispy potatoes usually steal the show!

If you’re after something a bit more exciting next time, don’t hesitate to try our tapas — that’s where our chef really likes to have fun 🌶️

As for the service, our team usually gets rave reviews for being warm, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what we do 💚

Very nice restaurant

Everything was nice at B.Better. Food is simple but delicious, especially the sauces. We had four tapas for two and it was okay. It also has a good selection of wines.
The waiters were friendly and very attentive.

I would recommend B.Better for a calm dinner, it is the perfect balance between an elegant but still relaxed restaurant.
I will certainly come back, especially as menus are seasonal.

Pros: Delicious food, Seasonal menu, Nice selection of wines

Great meal on our first night in Paris

We had a delightful experience at B Better in early September (2025). The food (appetizers, mains, dessert) and drink (artisan cocktails) were delicious, the service was excellent and we enjoyed sitting outside on a late summer evening. Highly recommend.

Pros: Quality of food, Friendly, helpful service

Excellente adresse

Super recomendo.

Pros: Muito gostoso, Ambiente agradável, Não é caro (para Paris)

Cons: Não aceita cartão de vale-refeição

Impressive!

From the beginning we feel the energy and the optimism of the place and the people. They welcomed us and our 2,5 year old son with books to keep him busy.

The food is amazing, in taste and presentation. We loved the potatoes and their sauce, it is mouthwatering and definitely worth to try it.

We will definitely come back!

Great people great food

We went with a 4 year old and the waiter brought stickers for him to be entertained with. The staff were all such wholesome good people. The food was varied enough for a small place with a tiny kitchen. It wasn’t Michelin star stuff but we enjoyed it a lot

Pros: Great with kids, Good tasting menu, Posters of vegan heroes

Cons: No chips

Mildly disappointing

Well it was ok. I had rejected various fast food vegan places because I wanted to see what the French could do with vegan food. But it failed to excite. The menu features commercial vegan burgers, “nuggets” and violife vegan cheese - the bland stuff in every vegan shop. So not really a gourmet experience. But it wasn’t incredibly expensive so maybe I shouldn’t grumble.

B.BETTER

Thank you for your feedback.

Just to clarify: we've never claimed to be a “gourmet” restaurant — nor a fast-food spot. Our menu is centered around homemade dishes prepared with organic and local ingredients. Aside from the “nuggets,” “patty,” and “cheddar,” everything is made in-house, including our sauces.

Indeed, only three items on the menu include these plant-based meat alternatives: the No-Chicken Tacos, the Better Burger, and the Quesadillas. They’re mainly designed for those who are looking for a familiar taste and texture (flexitarian).

We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel — we don’t make these alternatives ourselves because, let’s be honest, it’s hard to beat companies with over 15 years of R&D… especially from our 4m² kitchen. And we’re transparent about it: the brands we use are clearly mentioned on our menu.

So while it may not have matched your expectations, we hope our approach — thoughtful, honest, and rooted in quality — is clear.
If you were looking for something more exciting, we’d suggest skipping the nuggets next time and going for one of our fully homemade dishes.

And finally — if you were expecting high-end French cuisine, yes, the bill would have looked quite different.
Our mission is to democratize plant-based food, and to simply "be better" every day.

Your comment feels a little bitter — and clearly, this just wasn’t the right place for what you were seeking.

Regards,

BBetter's Team (not perfect, but at least trying to convince more people to eat better everyday)

JolyonJenkins

30 Jul 2025

I’m not bitter - just giving my honest opinion. I notice that you hotly contest every remark here that is not wholly positive. I suggest that you are not doing yourself any favours with this attitude since it will not encourage you ever to improve.

B.BETTER

31 Jul 2025

Thanks for your honesty — we’re just giving ours in return.

We actually welcome constructive feedback — it helps us grow. But when someone sums up our menu as “bland commercial stuff” and laments not finding the gourmet French vegan epiphany they were hoping for, a bit of context seems fair. Not to argue — to clarify.

So no, we’re not perfect.
But we show up every day, do the work, and yes — we reply when it counts.

And as for calling your comment “bitter” — let’s just say, if every place in France fails to excite you, the issue might not be the food.

If that’s seen as an “attitude,” so be it.
We’d rather be bold than bland.

BBetter’s Team (striving to improve — but staying true to our values)

JolyonJenkins

08 Aug 2025

I’m not sure that personally insulting and deliberately misquoting me is the win you think it is. I didn’t say that your menu was “bland commercial stuff” - I said that Violife cheese is. I didn’t say that every place in France fails to excite me, I said that your restaurant did.
I do, though find the argument that you can’t beat 15 years of commercial R&D a bit odd. I’m sure that Heinz have perfected their baked beans recipe over an even longer period, but I wouldn’t want to eat them in a restaurant.

B.BETTER

09 Aug 2025

Thanks for clarifying.

We never insulted you — we simply pointed out the tone of your comment, which came across as rather dismissive, even a touch arrogant, toward any restaurant that doesn’t live up to your personal standards.

You did say Violife cheese is bland, but placing it right after nuggets and a patty, followed by “the bland stuff in every vegan shop,” makes it hard to read as only referring to vegan cheese.

And Heinz baked beans? Hardly in the same category as plant-based meat alternatives designed to replicate the taste and texture of meat — like the HappyVore or Heura brands we use.

Taste is subjective, but given that no French vegan restaurant seems to have earned 5 stars from you, perhaps we were aiming for an impossible standard from the start.

BBetter’s Team
(not perfect, but clear about what we do)

22 Aug 2025

Well this is all fun but neither of us is going to change the other’s mind. Just to clarify, we didn’t have any of the commercial vegan options on your menu, but had your home cooked options. As I say, it was ok. And I’m glad someone is doing vegan food in Paris, and I hope others build on your example and make it a city where vegans can eat well

B.BETTER

In that case, it makes us wonder — why focus your review on products you didn’t even order, instead of directly reviewing the dishes you actually tried? We’re always open to criticism when it’s fair and justified, but it should reflect the food that was actually on your plate.

We appreciate that you acknowledge our efforts to bring vegan food to Paris. That’s exactly what we’ll keep doing — improving step by step, with honesty and transparency.

And on that note, let’s call it peace.

Nice place with good value tasting menu

B.Better is a nice little 100% vegan restaurant located on a quiet street in Le Marais. Their seasonal menu offers tapas, tex mex dishes and burgers. Or, as we did, you can get the tasting menu for €33 which gives you one tapas, one tex mex dish, half a burger & dessert. Everything was very good but I particularly recommend the buffalo-style cauliflower and the mushroom tacos. Staff are friendly and service is efficient. Highly recommended.

Nice places for tapas

We went for lunch and tried five tapas. The food was tasty, dishes size was ok. The place is very small and a few tables are outside, the service was friendly. Apart from hummus tapas, there are no proteins all tapas are only veggies ( aubergines, asparagus, coli flower). For us it has been a very nice lunch experience!

Cons: Not enough proteins in the tapas menu

B.BETTER

20 May 2025

Dear PiselloPatata,

Thank you so much for your visit and kind words about the atmosphere, service, and flavors!

We totally understand the protein question — but just a little clarification: we don’t believe people go to restaurants only to meet their nutritional intake (how sad would that be?), but rather for the joy of taste, seasonal produce, and the pleasure of sharing good food.

That said, many of our sauces — including the ones served with the potatoes, asparagus, eggplants, and BBQ cauliflower skewers — are actually made with pea and/or soy protein bases. So they’re not just "veggies"! The only truly low-protein tapas would be the broccoli skewer and the accras.

We’re a small restaurant focused on seasonal, fully homemade dishes that happen to be 100% plant-based — but we promise, protein is never forgotten 😄

Hope to see you again soon!

Warm regards,
The B.Better Team

Cute place .dishes are very small

The olace was cute with a few sitting places.
We ordered the tacos ,beer ,latte, and a desset.
The dishes were not cheap, so we expected the dishes to be bigger (each taco was 14/15 euro but was only two small tacos)
Dessert was also very small

Pros: Sitting inside and outside, Nice staff, Tasty

Cons: Small dishes, Expensive

B.BETTER

14 May 2025

Dear Talya,

Thank you for your feedback and for visiting us!

We understand that portion sizes can be a subjective matter, and we truly appreciate you sharing your thoughts.

That said, we’d like to offer a bit of context: our restaurant is located in the heart of Le Marais, one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Paris, where both rent and costs of living are particularly high.

We’re a small, family-run independent restaurant with only 26 seats, and we take great pride in offering 100% homemade dishes, using seasonal, organic, and local ingredients whenever possible.

Our portions may appear modest, but the quality, preparation time, and sourcing are truly ++.

To keep things accessible, we always suggest our €33 tasting menu, which offers a more complete experience and better value than ordering à la carte.

That’s also why we often recommend pairing a tapa with tacos — for example, our Mushroom Tacos + smashed potatoes come to €24 (lowest price), and the No-Chicken Tacos + asparagus to €27 (maximum) — which we believe are fair prices for a fresh, seasonal, fully homemade "main course" in this area.

Thank you again for your visit and your kind words about our team and food — we hope to welcome you again soon!

Warm regards,
The B.Better Team

Unimpressed

Friendly staff, okay interior, and edible but rather basic food, lacking any creativity in my opinion. Not cheap.

B.BETTER

01 Feb 2025

Dear Josh,

We’re genuinely surprised by the lack of kindness in your way of expressing disappointment, especially with so little detail.

What exactly do you mean by "basic food"? Creativity is not always synonymous with quality. Rather than attempting to be "food magicians," we choose to focus on high-quality, organic, and seasonal ingredients sourced from a local farm—because for us, excellence starts with the product itself.

That said, we’re curious—what kind of culinary acrobatics would you have us perform to elevate our food beyond "edible" in your eyes (and, of course, to match your pricing expectations)?

If you have specific feedback, we’d be happy to hear it, as constructive criticism helps us improve. However, vague and dismissive comments like this one are neither useful nor respectful.

And remember, Nobody’s Perfect, Be Better.

The B.Better Team

Fair point. I’m happy to elaborate on my personal opinion: for the starter, I found that the mushrooms could have used a crispy element to create more structure, both in texture and taste (e.g. panko crumbs, crispy shallots, fried sage leaves).

Regarding the main, I noticed the burger seemed like a processed patty, the kind you can find at supermarkets, served in a plain white bun. There was some raw, cold sauerkraut, and the sauce tasted like ketchup. I would have loved to see something homemade in there—perhaps grilled vegetables or a more flavorful sauce to elevate the dish.

That’s why I rated my experience 4 rather than 5 stars.

B.BETTER

02 Feb 2025

Thank you for taking the time to elaborate on your experience—as we mentioned before, we truly appreciate constructive feedback!

If you’re referring to the flambéed shiitake mushrooms for your starter, our goal was to recreate a French-style moules marinières experience, where the depth of flavor comes from the sauce rather than a crispy element. We don’t believe crunchiness naturally belongs in this dish, but your suggestion is interesting! In the classic French recipe, celery slices are often used for a touch of freshness and crunch—this could be an idea worth exploring. Something to test!

If you were talking about our mushroom tacos, we actually do include crispy fried onions to add texture to the dish.

Regarding the Better Burger, the patty we use is from Heura, a high-quality brand known for its plant-based meat alternatives. We grill it over a charcoal BBQ, just like our organic, artisan-made bun. Every other component is made in-house, from our vegan béarnaise mayo and Texas-style BBQ sauce to our organic daikon radish coleslaw. Our homemade sauces have been such a hit with customers that we’re about to launch them for retail—so we’re genuinely surprised they didn’t suit your taste!

We truly value your opinion and hope to welcome you again so you can explore more of our menu—and perhaps gain a deeper understanding of our approach to plant-based cuisine next time.

Best regards,
The B.Better Team
