Good food, not great opening times

We went there a couple of times for lunch and the food is great, so we were looking forward to trying the dinner menu. We turned up at 9pm-- a bit late for dinner, yes, but this is two hours earlier than close and 1 earlier than last order as listed on their own website and business cards. There was a closed sign outside and when we asked the waitress about why this happened early there was no explanation except 'we've already started cleaning up'. She seemed very apologetic, and obviously this is up to them, but it seems like they should at least update their opening times if this is a regular occurrence so people don't make a wasted visit.

Great vegan food, nice atmosphere

After a morning of watching the sumo, my girlfriend and I decided this would be a decent place to check out for lunch. After a longish walk, we found the place to have a pleasant rustic Mediterranean feel to it, and was clearly marked as vegan (always comforting in Japan, sometimes it can be difficult to be trusting).

They sat us down and gave us an English menu. We both had a main and a dessert. All the food was good and decent value for money.

There was a little shop corner in the entrance to the restaurant that sold a lot of goodies. If I had visited this place earlier in my (year long) stay in japan, I certainly would have left with a bag full of (admittedly not cheap) goodies.

Overall we were very happy with the experience at Paprika Shokudo Vegan. The food was good, and well priced, the atmosphere was great and the service was good. I would recommend people in the area to check it out.

Pros: Great atmosphere, Good food, Affordable

Good, but with some caveats.

I went to Paprika with some friends last week, and while the food we had was great, there were a couple of things that stood out as not being a great experience.

First the good- the atmosphere is great. It's a lovely, beautiful restaurant with really lovely staff. Most of us were foreigners, and while some of us are fine with Japanese, many were not comfortable with Japanese at all, so the staff being ok with English was great.

That being said, we were a party of seven, and there were some problems with service for us. The food is all made fresh (which is great), but the food didn't all come out together, which meant that some of us had finished eating before others had even been given their meals. They also had a little mistake where they forgot two of the mains (which again, can happen, we understand that). I think they are maybe a little more accustomed to having couples dining together, so I would advise that if you are going as a group I would recommending sharing dishes, so that way you can all be eating at the same time. Small plates were provided from the outset, so I'd say that this is probably their recommended way of eating.

I probably would go again, simply because the atmosphere is so pleasant and the staff were so great, but I probably would only go with a smaller group, or would specifically warn the group that we'd probably need to all just share.

Pros: Friendly staff, Great atmosphere, Large selection

Cons: Food didn't come out at the same time, Some dishes significantly slower to come

Delicious!

I had an amazing dinner at Paprika. Amuse-bouche, Chef’s selection of appetizers, deep fried oysters made from mushrooms and tofu, and baked organic banana and cinnamon cake. All their food is organic and vegan, with a wide selection of appetizers and main dishes. Good side portions. Beautiful, laid back space with good music. The service is friendly and efficient. There is a service charge for dinner. Menu is available in English, and the staff speaks English as well.

Pros: Food, atmosphere, wine

Really love this place

This is my favorite spot in Osaka. It's such a pretty restaurant, with lots of delicious food. Really friendly service (and they speak English), romantic lighting, nice music. The food is a mixture of rice bowls with veggies and various vegan meats, and pasta/pizza. I recommend the rice bowls (donburi), especially the soy meat yakiniku donburi.

Really really good!

The food here was great, they offer Japanese as well as dishes from various other countries, the staff speak English very well which made things really easy for us, big meal sizes, and the location is really relaxing. We had a good night here and will definitely be back!

Pros: high quality food, great staff , English menu

Beautiful cafe and super yummy!

It's worth noting that the restaurant is not exactly where maps on an iPhone will take you! It's one street directly behind. Otherwise very easy to access via transport and easy to spot (see uploaded street shot). Big board out the front says "Vegan for life"

Beautiful looking cafe, we ate here when they opened for dinner (5:30pm), in the front area with a lovely breeze!

We ordered the chefs appetizer plate (as recommended by precious reviewer!); followed by sharing a creamy tomato risotto with "deep fried" veggies (not sure they were fried, but super delish); soy meat yakiniku donburi (rice bowl with stir fried faux meat); and the dessert share plate which was a soft brownie, tofu baked cheesecake and banana cinnamon cake.

Friendly and informative staff with good English skills. Highly recommend!

Pros: Organic/vegan, Fast kitchen , Great staff

great vegan restaurant!

This place is awesome! All vegan and they are open later than most veg restaurants in the area. We have been here twice in the past two days for dinner. The lunch menu offers two set lunches but the dinner menu is significantly more expansive, featuring some Japanese style dishes as well as some South American and Italian dishes as well. Everything has been great so far (have tried appetizer sampler, escabeche, puttanesca, risotto, a couple pizzas and a soy meat rice bowl plus all the desserts). The clear favorite so far has been the rice bowl and appetizer sampler, so those are must-trys, but overall, you really can't go wrong!

Pros: all vegan, lots of dinner options , open late

New vegan heaven in downtown Osaka!!

Finally launched real vegan restaurant in Yotsubashi, Osaka!
The owner became vegan after reading a book regarding vegetarianism. After his vegan option menu success in his Paprika Shokudo in Sakai-Higashi, he opened this new vegan restaurant in downtown Osaka!
Uses organic vegetables and soy meat, you'll enjoy great dishes in cozy atmosphere!

Yes! I've checked and they say they can do the most food without onion or garlic! Tell them you want GOKUN-NUKI they will understand! Also, near Paprika, there's a Indian Vegetarian restaurant called Shama (see Happy Cow) they do t use any onion or garlic, due to Hindu beliefs, just for your reference!! Hope you enjoy vegetarian restaurant in Oska!!

Thank you very much Vegeiko...really happy to know that, and thank you so much for the additional info...can not wait for my travel to japan...i am planning to have dinner with my family after a whole day play in USJ on 2nd Jun. Really need a nice vege resto after that because as long as my search, there is no vege food inside USJ.
