Best Veg Food in Japan - Edit
This was the best meal I've had in Japan. Highly recommend.
Read moreThe food here was excellent. Usually after eating vegetarian food in Japan I find I'm still hungry after cleaning my plate. Here, I couldn't even finish my food I was so full. Everything tasted good and came fairly quickly.
Options include a set where you choose the main dish and also get salad, rice, soup, and a side dish. I had the soy meat karaage set menu and it was delicious. Expect to spend around 900-1,500 per meal.
The staff was pleasant and spoke to me in English. There is also English on the menu as well as signs on the table explaining to push the button inside the little book for service and to pay at the table.
Pros: Filling, Nice atmosphere, Friendly Staff

Great lunch - Edit
A little less authentic Japanese then I would prefer and the soy ice cream wasn’t up to par but overall it was a great experience! I highly recommend the karaage donbori. Huge portion size for a good price.

Best Vegan restaurant I’ve been! - Edit
The food selection was big! Everything was so tasty! I have an allergy to Garlic and they made everything we wanted without garlic! They have a little boutique you can purchase tempeh, vege-burger mix, and more! We can’t wait to go back!

Low key and comfortable - Edit
After arriving at Kansei airport in the evening I was looking forward to finding a vegan restaurant soon after checking I to my hostel. I searched for nearby restaurants but they were all closed and post strange work hours, then I found this place, opened til 11pm I was so excited. Couldn't be bothered learning to take the subway so I walked the mile there and when I arrived I was not disappointed~ the staff was very friendly and speaking English wasn't a problem. I got recommended the "meat yakiniku" pizza which was so incredibly delicious, I've never had anything like that before.... so filling and so delicious. I had the falafel side dish as an appetizer which was great. They have 8 pages of a packed menu so there's plenty to. Goose from, the hardest part was making a decision haha

Lots of vegan options - Edit
Amazing vegan meals! So many options! Even though it was a bit more expensive than most restaurants I’ve been to in Japan I think it was well worth it because the food was really delicious. Undoubtedly 100% delish vegan food!

Okay food, kinda pricy, weird service - Edit
This place was a weird experience.
Read moreWe ordered the karaage-don and the pasta bolognese.
Taste-wise, the karaage was very good. The bolognese was okay, but I didn't expect all the mushrooms in it (I guess I probably should have because mushrooms are so popular here, but I thought it would just be mock meat).
Price-wise, both things were on the more expensive side. Bolognese definitely not worth it, but karaage maybe because it was very good.
The service here was the weirdest part. We spent a while figuring out how we were supposed to order until I realized that the small chest on our table could potentially have one of those buttons in it to call the wait staff (thanks to seeing someone on Happycow mention buttons). It was so out of sight though, I don't know how someone with no prior knowledge would figure this out. When we ordered we asked for water, which we sat around waiting for for a long time. Eventually they brought out the karaage still with no water. My boyfriend ate a good amount of his meal before he went up to the counter to ask for water again. When he did the owner(?)/waitress said "okay!" and told him to sit down. We waited almost another ten minutes before my pasta came out, at which point we reminded them that we still hadn't gotten our water. They finally brought it after this. Later on when we wanted to pay, we got up to do so at the counter like you do at 99% of the restaurants in Japan, but the waitress seemed exasperated and told us to sit down please. We then waited at our table to pay. These little things about the service were just kinda odd and made the experience less enjoyable. Maybe they were having a bad night, but the place wasn't super packed.
I would go back if I really wanted karaage because that dish was pretty good, but the rest of the things about this place weren't so great.
Pros: Good karaage.
Cons: Expensive., Not great service.

Best vegan spot in Japan! - Edit
By far one of my FAVORITE vegan spots in Japan. The food was wonderful... we ordered the faux eel and the rice bowl and the anchovy pizza! The atmosphere was adorable too. There’s an outside seating area and the decor just really made the eating experience that more special. They also sell cocktails and organic wine, if that’s your thing! You should def come here!

I had the stir fried soy meat yakiniku donburi bowl and it was really great. The restaurant has a really good vibe, with some outside seating, and also caters to parties and does takeaway. A range of vegan foods (such as instant noodles) and vegan-themed bags and t-shirts are also on sale.

Largest Vegan Menu in Osaka - Edit
Paprika is a great vegan restaurant (moslty organic!) with an extensive menu that really caters to new-vegans or people dining with non-vegan friends. They have lots of shareable dishes as well as items such as pizza that aren't found elsewhere in Osaka. It's on the richer, heavier side compared to other health-focused venues in Osaka, but depending on the ocassion it's great.

One word..AMAZING! - Edit
A delight for any foodie vegan or no visiting Osaka! Highlight for me were the vegan Japanese classics...Unagi (broiled eel). Taste and texture spot on, and flavours knocked socks off! Also had kaki-fry (oysters), kara-age (marinated chicken), hamburger. All super tasty. Chilled out dining space, open kitchen and nice counter bar to sit at too.

Beauitful cozy restaurant - Edit
Paprika Shokudou is a cozy restaurant with a home feel. The waiting staff are very polite and friendly. There is at least one person that speaks English. The Menu is English friendly and has some Japanese style fried Soy meat options besides the variety of Western options including Vegan Pizza and Pasta. They have a cute little bar which I can't talk much about since I don't drink Alcohol :-)
Read moreAll their food is Organic and freshly made. I could feel the freshness in the taste when I ordered the Karaage Fried Soy with Brown rice bowl and Fried Oyster Mushrooms - Very yummy.
They accept international Credit cards - I used my AmEx! (Usually declined politely at many places).
Definitely worth a visit if you are in Osaka - Very easy to find with GMaps. They are also located very close to the Subway.
Pros: Cozy, Fresh, Organic food, Friendly Staff

best vegan food in Osaka - Edit
I love this place so much. My boyfriend and I came here twice for dinner whilst visiting Osaka and the food was delicious both times. We highly recommend the teriyaki tempe as an appetizer, and the soy karaage as a set or don is great too. Had a soy milk parfait for dessert the second time we came, which was incredible! Lovely staff, very friendly and great atmosphere. Will definitely come back next time we’re in Osaka.

Very good AND overpriced food - Edit
The place is super nice. The staff is friendly, even though their English is very poor. Food is good, we ordered several dishes and enjoyed them all. The baked avocado with homemade vegan cheese was delicious. Fries were good, the vegan burger tasty, the tofu cheesecake a real treat. However, the servings are small (go if you are not very hungry) and the price is NOT reasonable considered how much you eat. This is always disappointing: I am happy to pay for my food, but it has to be filling

Delicious - Edit
Delicious vegan hamburger plate, and MUST try the vegan eel! I’ve never had eel before so couldn’t compare, but my brother had and it said it was spot on, minus the fishy aftertaste. It was delicious! Their desserts are amazing too and I finally got to try kawaii parfaits in japan, as a vegan! The kindest staff ever. Thank you again ladies!

Came here first time a year ago with a friend at lunch time and we had a delicious lunch of burger, rice and salad along with cheesecake and soft serve for desert. All really good.
Read moreI was back in Osaka solo last week so dropped in for dinner and for a seat at the bar which made it a really enjoyable evening watching the workings of a busy kitchen. I had a soy meat Donburi bowl and some French fries and a slice of cheesecake. The donburi was delicious, heaps of flavour. The French fries were really more like wedges but were fine if that’s how you like your potato. Cheesecake was smooth and had a nice base. Service is very friendly and welcoming.

Small restaurant with a "eco friendly" touch. For my taste the food was a little bland... buuut i guess some people would enjoy exactly that... so i guess three stars, because the food wasn't really bad, just not to my personal liking.

beautiful food and restaurant - Edit
We arrived here on our first night in Osaka and felt warmly welcomed as we arrived via bicycles on a cold winter evening. To our pleasant surprise, there was a private party happening to celebrate the 4 year anniversary of the restaurant. Even though we had no reservations, they happily included us and we got to try a beautiful selection of the owner's favorite dishes! Everything was delicious and the hospitality was unmatched by anywhere we had ever been. We will definitely return on our next trip to Japan!
