What a feast - Edit
We weren’t aware how much food we were going to get, the table was full of plates. The food was good. When we wanted to pay the owner gave us his story to read: he has two jobs and also collects money to help children with difficult childhood (which he also experienced).

Great experience - Edit
You choose an item off the menu and get sooo much choice with it. The owner shows you how to eat it traditionally which was really nice. It’s very cheap also!
Read moreYou have to go through a small alleyway and go up some stairs but it’s signed very well.

I loved it - Edit
We ate dinner at Katze and we absolutely loved it.
Read moreFrom the outside the restaurant looks closed, or non- exsistent, but do not worry, you need to ring a bell and go to the second floor for the best culinary experience you will have in Vietnam.
After being in Vietnam for a bit over a week and trying a lot of different restaurants and plenty of food, I can safely say that it was the best food and experience we have had this far.
The owner (William ) is a gem. After food he gives you an article explaining his story and it really shows how far he has come and how important it is to support his business, as he was a streetkid and fulfilled his dream of becoming a business owner.
The food is finger licking good. Along to the dish(es) you order you also get some free(5) basic bowls, which include 2 dishes of tofu, soup and veggies.
William even shows you how to best combine your food for the best taste.
The restaurant also has a great value; we payed 295 000 dong for 3 people.
This restaurant genuinely deserves 5 stars.
Pros: Cheap, Lovely owner
Cons: None

JUST GO!!! - Edit
If you only have time for one place in Hanoi, look no further. Even if you have a week, go nowhere else. You pay 95K for the main (we had the chicken and beef, both really good but beef was unbelieveable)
Read moreThen you receive all-you-can-eat tofu in tomato sauce, rice, loads of vegetables, a soup and a lemon dipping sauce. All things are again, unbelieveable. William will show you how to eat it and you will leave the happiest (and most full) you have ever been.
DO NOT MISS!
* They have changed their sign outside quite recently look at my pictures for navigating your way into the alleyway.

Amazing food, big portions - Edit
I would recommend everyone to go there while in Hanoi! The owner is super cute and shares his story to the visitors and the food is really good! Be aware that the portions are big so maybe order less or take the rest with you, they have takeout boxes to use for leftovers. This place is on top of the list of restaurants in Hanoi for me!

Huge portions of delicious food - Edit
I came here on my own, and ordered one main. Ideally I needed another person with me to help me finish it! The vegan chicken was delicious, alongside all of the sides (rice, salad, tomato tofu, and lemon dressing). Since I didn't know before coming, I also ordered some fried spring rolls, which made the overall meal even bigger, but they were great!

Come here on an empty stomach and enjoy!

Everything about this place is spot on. And so cheap. You literally order one thing on the menu and they bring you a huuuuge bowl of rice, a salad, tofu and a soup. All for sooooo cheap.

Worth every penny and more. You HAVE to go! - Edit
This place is hidden off the main street. I wouldn't have found it if not for the Google photo I've shared here too!
Read moreYou get so much food that is all delicious. It was recommended by another vegan I met and they told me about the amount of food of you get so me and my boyfriend got a main and starter between us. He's veggie, I'm vegan, we felt a lovely light full after it. So many different flavours between the dishes.
1 million percent worth having a look for this place!
Pros: Great value for money, Delicious food, Friendly staff

Best food in Hanoi!! - Edit
The place is a bit hard to find but if u ask around right outside where it says it is on the map u will find it (u have to walk through the house almost). The food was so amazing and the portions were so generous and come with lots of sides - so don’t over order. The owner really cares about your experience and is so helpful. Super authentic Vietnamese food (all vegan). 10000% recommend :)))

The hype is real - Edit
This place is amazing! It's a bit hidden and you almost walk through their apartment to get to the restaurant. The food tastes sooo good and you get a lot of side dishes with the food, especially the tofu with Tomato and the lemon sauce are amazing. Can also recommend the vegan shrimp, but I'm sure everything tastes good there! They also show you how to eat everything

A very wholesome and authentic experience - Edit
This place is a bit confusing if you don't know what to expect. You order your dishes, but tofu and tomato sauce, greens, rice all comes out along side (it's confusing as you haven't ordered it). They will then refill any of the side dishes if you finish them. The tofu and tomato sauce itself was a stand out, but the dishes we ordered (fake beef and chicken) were both also amazing. Quite a small place with an interesting history - ask for William's story and he can show it to you on a laminated piece of paper.

Outstanding experience - Edit
This is an owner who truly cares about servicing food. We were not too hungry so we just ordered a few starters, and then he brought us a dish he just thought we need to try (which was amazing!). He made the lemon/chilli sauce on the table, and then once the food arrived he showed us how to eat it like a local.

Best vegan experience in Hanoi!! - Edit
We even brought our carnivore friends and they were blown away. The tofu tomato dish comes WITH your order (I was very confused at first) and they keep refilling it if you finish your bowl! So, all you can eat in that sense. And it was my favorite dish! So amazing. Not sure if they do that with the other dishes or not. The fake “chicken” and veggies dish & everything else we had there was also awesome. The owner came from the streets when he was a boy and is making his way in the world by selling the most delicious vegan food and training others. Everyone who worked there was so kind and attentive. There is seating upstairs through the alley and I think if they’re full upstairs they have two tables downstairs that you can see from the street with an open wall to the street. So kind of fun table experience too. #Veganuary

Like everyone is saying, some of the best food I had in Vietnam. You really only need to order 1 dish as it comes with a soup and vegetables and tofu in a tomato sauce. The chili lemon dipping sauce is too good. William is also an absolute legend with a good heart and a great mission. Highly recommend going! #Veganuary

Fresh, hot, delicious meal served by incredible hosts! - Edit
Exceptional! One of our favourite meals in Hanoi. This was our second meal in Vietnam and we loved it. The first meal was at a fancy Vegetarian fine-dining establishment and Katze was a million miles ahead of those guys!
Read moreThe host and his family are so warm and the food is fresh, piping hot and served in incredible quantities! The story of the founder of the restaurant was very inspiring.
The space is on the second floor and is very homely. Every dish was very tasty but be aware that they will serve 4 or 5 side dishes with every main! And then they keep replenishing what is over! It was incredible but we did end up wasting quite a bit of food.

Come hungry because you will be getting a lot of yummy food (for very little money). Staff is kind and efficient. The owner was there making sure I knew how to mix and eat all the dishes. Note: it’s a bit hard to find - restaurant is on the 2nd floor. You will enter through the alleyway to the left of the sign in front. I’ll surely be back!

Katze is the small room on the street & Cumulus is the restaurant hidden upstairs, down the alley. It's the same people, same menu. The owner has a fabulous backstory about being a poor villager, helped by a westerner to get educated in Hanoi, and finally opening this amazing all vegan restaurant.
