Love this place already - Edit
So far, I’ve gotten the crispy chicken sandwich twice (I think this might be the only place in town you can get that vegan) and once my son had the bacon Mac and cheese and honestly I was blown away with how good it was - and I’m not that vegan that’s gonna lie and say it’s good when it’s not 😂 when I want my unhealthy fried and crunchy chicken style Sammie, that’s what I want lol and they delivered!
Read moreIt is, however, a little pricey. But with how good the food is, how attentive the staff is and the vibe/cleanliness of the place it’s my new favorite 😻

Thankful for a Vegan place - Edit
Happy to find a fully vegan place in Reno and with some culture too. We go the Mexica burger and the bbq Mac burger and thought both were good. The fries were perfect. The earth smoothie was great. Not a healthy menu but for what we got it wasn’t crazy greasy or salt or anything like that. Everyone is very nice and I definitely recommend going.

First visit - yum - Edit
We were stuck in Reno waiting for a storm to clear the pass. I got a veg burrito, and my husband the nachos. The burrito came with a spicy sauce in the side, which was great. The nachos with “asada” had great flavor. We would eat again tonight but the store is closed. Call ahead for hours - don’t trust posted hours. When we called they were planning to close 1/2 hour early and only curbside service available.

Satisfying Vegan Food - Edit
Buffalo fries are AMAZING. We also enjoyed the chik’n chimichanga (huge!) and the chik’n burrito. Very flavorful and filling. We will certainly be regulars here!

The atmosphere was nice, the food was a good portion size and yummy! The staff was really nice, even with dealing with another customer who ignored the menu and didn’t know this was a vegan restaurant.

Soooo good! Very authentic, delicious food. - Edit
We got the nachos (al pastor) and the tamales. Both were delicious. The food was super authentic, the sauces were mouth watering, and the cheese was bomb. Traditional tamales are made with lard, and it’s like you don’t even notice with these! This is definitely the place to take all of your friends and family, or grab take-out.

Amazing Options - Edit
First of all, 100% vegan.
Read moreThe owners/employees are wonderful people.
But the food. Wow. Amazing vegan "junk" food, fried "chicken" sandwiches are to die for, but their loaded fries.... they're the show to be honest.
I LOVE their sopes with asada. My husband is downright obsessed with their burritos.
The most financially friendly options on their menu are the mexican options for sure. Beware, if you order the chimichangas, you will need help.
A regular for me. They arent just indulgent food- They do also offer raw, healthful salads and smoothies. So if you want to impress your non vegan friends while also sticking to your diet, they're still a fantastic option. Love these guys.
Pros: 100% BOMB AF vegan food., Both indulgent and healthful options.
Cons: Pretty pricey

I wish they'd come to Incline Village! - Edit
It was worth the drive. Even though there were only two of us, we ordered the tacos, the sopes, the diosas del queso, the mulitas and the tamales. We were so impressed. Our favorites were the tamales, sopes and tacos, but we also liked the other two as well. The owner/chef is from Mexico City. She could not have been more accommodating. We were treated like family. The inside is clean and inviting. We can't wait to come back when they fully reopen. So nice to have real Mexican options other than burritos. I felt like I was back in Mexico.

Decent option - Edit
I was really happy to see Reno had a vegan spot near the airport; dropped by on my way through the town and went with the server’s suggestion of a chimichanga. I’ll bet there are some flavorful options, but it was fairly bland. Hefty portion, at least, and I’ll likely stop by again to try something else just to support a vegan spot in the area.

All vegan Mexican food! - Edit
Unique vegan Mexican dishes was really delightful. I was told a lot of things were homemade and it seems the food is really fresh and healthy. They even have some raw vegan desert options. A little pricey for the portions we received so it makes me think twice to stop again but overall the food was tasty.

Two Views - Edit
We titled this review “two views”, as my wife and I are both vegan, but approach the menu differently.
Read moreMy wife prefers items that are not trying to replicate meat products, where I will eat anything. So when I initially saw the menu I knew that we were set. I LOVE Chimichangas, so like normal I ordered not one, but two. The first was the Cheese God Chimi, which was AMAZING! The second was the BBQ Chimi, which I had later that evening and was delightful. So I (his wife) got nachos with hibiscus, of which I’d never had and was very pleasantly surprised at how amazing it was. We also got a burrito with nohpalli (prickly pear cactus) as well as Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious! A side note, their prices are creative, which I like, every item is listed with the same cents as dollars ie: $8.88, $10.10, $11.11. Very friendly and helpful as a well.
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff, GREAT flavors on ALL items ordered, Big portions
Cons: Some online presence, but could improve

Great spot! They use soy based meat. - Edit
So happy to have a full vegan spot in Reno. There's only one other that's a food truck so not open all the time.
Read moreI ordered the sopes and a chimichanga and a burrito. I tried both the "Al Pastor" and "Carne Asada". Everything was decent but the sope and chimichanga were especially good. Haven't been able to find any other vegan place serving sopes and I love them. The "Carne Asada" was great. The person I ordered from said the fake meats are soy based just fyi. I think they also serve Beyond as an option on their burgers.
Pros: Great food, Fully vegan
Cons: Online presence is a bit hidden, Menu doesn't detail what's in their "meat", on the expensive side

EXCEPTIONAL! Go out of your way!! - Edit
Read moreThis place is incredible for foodies, people looking for a fresh spin on Mexican food and of course for those who are plant based too.
First, the people are great here and they care about what they do; it shows in the cleanliness, decor and food.
Second, the food is incredible!!!! Very delicious. My family has been plant based for over a year and some spots are hit or miss. However this is the best plant based Mexican food I have ever had. The “Al Pastor” soy based tacos are incredible and the plant based al pastor is out of this world! Our young kids split the Mac and cheese and they loved it; lucky for us there was some left over for us too! We also tried the nachos, torta and the asada too. All delicious!!
I would highly recommend house of Mexica; this is a “go out of your way to eat there” spot! Enjoy!
Pros: Modern fresh spin on traditional Mexican food, 100% plant based menu, Super friendly staff

Amazing people, but the food isn’t it for me - Edit
I am a Detroiter that just moved to the area, so I was super happy to find something that I didn’t have from the MotorCity. A vegan Mexican restaurant. As a Vegan for about 3 & 1/2 years and a chef, I found the jungle tamale very bland.
Read moreOn the good side though, as I like to end on a good note. The restaurant is very clean, the people, both customer and employees are extremely friendly. They were willing to bring my food out to me due to the whole COVID thing. It’s family owned as far as I can tell.
It’s the type of place I will go to if it’s the closest most convenient thing near by, as I love to support Vegan business. But I will not go out of my way
Pros: Completely vegan menu, Friendly staff, Nice atmosphere
Cons: Bland , Expensive
