Great choice for Portuguese food! - Edit
First I though Ao26 will be too expensive and posh for me but actually not. And the money are definitely worth the food! Managed to get twice table without booking but that was a big luck! And yeah I had to come back because I just loved it so much!
Read moreDon’t waste time over burgers (I believe they taste lovely!) if you can get super delicious traditional veganised cuisine! On a first visit we had the Pastel de Bacalhau and Mushrooms A Bulhao Pato both very delicious and for mains Portuguese seitan and tofu a lagareiro. I must say I don’t fancy seitan that much but for this one I had to come back! So bloody good! The tofu was let’s say tofish but on totally top level! Delicious beautiful, loved it! Creme brûlée as dessert to share and all of these with drinks under €50 was very nice experience.
On my next visit I had melancolique ‘sardine’ - tofish with peppers on bruschetta , was too big for me as starter so had it packed with me for later. Seitan again and chocolate mousse at the end. Second great visit!

Overrated and expensive restaurant with friendly staff - Edit
You should reserve a table - even in October! We were lucky to get a table without. The restaurant is overrated in our opinion. Not the best vegan food in Lisbon for a high price. We had Francesinha for 15 € - it tasted ok, but was much better (and cheaper) at another vegan restaurant at Costa da Caparica. The staff was super friendly.

It was a line when we got there, so mabey my expectations were high. The seiran burger was quite ordinary, nothing special about it, maby even a bit dry bun. The sweet potato fries was heavenly though. Was excpecting more.

AO26 in Lisbon Portugal is a wonderful upscale vegan food experience. We loved the food that we had and we were able to get traditional Portuguese food with vegan substitutes! We had a peanut butter chocolate pie and a creme brûlée. Cheese plate + a meat and potatoes dish + a layered cheese, meat, and bread dish topped with marinara sauce that is a traditional Portuguese dish!

The menu is very much dedicated to portuguese culture, thus the substitutes influence! Anybody can taste with Ao26 portuguese culture and not hurt animals or our earth! We arrived to the restaurant and it was almost full. We waited for 10 minutes and they assigned us a table. All we ate was fantastic...sardinhas, octopus, raviolis, tofu. In fact, the next day we went again and ate sardinhas again.

It was the best place I've been eating since going vegan one year ago. You absolutely have to go there when in Lisbon. We had the tofu with seaweed that tasted a bit like fish and the dish with the vegan "chorizo". I also had the most fluffy chocolate cake!

The space is so nice and welcoming, such a good vibe and very well decorated. We opted for the chefs suggestion and it was absolutely amazing: brown mushrooms stuffed with tofu and spinach, with a green salad and quinoa tabule. The staff was very nice, always smiling and kind. Absolutely loved it! Would totally recommend

Visited the place for 1st time and we had quinoa bowl, tofu burger + sweet potato fries - everything tasted unbelievable great and sizes were more than enough. We topped it up with perfect piece of chocolate cake and cup of almond mylk coffee. Will visit the place next time when back in the city. Pretty busy place hence booking in advance may be a good idea.
