Menu of buzzwords. Side of disappointment - Edit
Very rare I’ll let a vegan place have it but I was so incredibly underwhelmed with this one. I tried to visit one time before and it wasn’t open when it was supposed to be so was ready for this to be a bit spesh but it so wasn’t! Had brunch.. lucky I was after a light bite ‘cos there wasn’t much to it! I have honestly garnished my dinner with more pepper than they serve quinoa and seeds! The only thing that wasn’t bland was the price.
Read morePros: Tasteful hipster decor , Usual polite Japanese service , Bread was nice if ya happy to fill on that
Cons: Everything else, Meager meals , Higher end price for what it is

Completely agree - when we visited it we had expensive small portions of generic western vegan food. It wasn't bad, but this is Kyoto! I cannot understand people visiting Kyoto and eating "buddha bowls" when there is world-class *real* Buddhist food available for less money.

Amazing coffee! - Edit
The best coffee I've had in Japan! We ordered the daily brew and bonsoy latte which were really good, with a matcha choc chip muffin. Super delicious, would definitely recommend for a treat.

Delicious food and nice coffee, a quiet space to sit and meet other locals and travellers. Big windows overlooking the river make the space bright and cosy.

Watching The River roll By - Edit
Veg Out is a relaxing little restaurant on the Kamo River, we sat at the window seats. I ordered the Pasta Carbonara, it was perfect and plenty of it. My wife ordered the Soy Meat dish and loved the taste. The organic wine is reasonably priced so you are tempted to have a second. All in all a most enjoyable dinner. I will return if ever in Kyoto again to try the rest of the menu it looked fabulous.

Portions were to small for the price - Edit
Had the dinner curry plate; it was sweet even though I asked if it was (and they said that it was not). Salad oddly came with no dressing. Wouldn’t go back, though the view was great.

Nice Location - Edit
Full vegan menu, so far the only place that offers kombucha, with loads of deserts and a mini health food store. Had a nice view of the river if you like that kind of thing. Great customer service. The Buddha Bowl is a win 👌

Breakfast - Edit
Had the tofu panini with a matcha latte and my sister had the toast of the day which was avo toast with salsa on top and a berry smoothie. We both really enjoyed our meals and the bread is which fresh baked was so yummy. I recommend eating here.

This place is quiet and peaceful with a nice view of the river. They have the tables and chairs set up so that more people can enjoy looking out the window.

おいし! - Edit
Very delicious and wonderful atmosphere. Went for dinner the first time thinking we would get something light but ended up getting the curry and Buddha bowl and couldn't have been happier. Super satisfying and doesn't break the bank. Went again a few days later for lunch and got the bonsoy latte and taco rice. The flavours are incredible and filling.

Check if open first! Worth coming back :) - Edit
We took a chance that ‘standard’ evening opening hours reported online were solid only to find it closed, after a long walk at the end of a long day! Came back the next day and had more luck, got a nice seat overlooking the river and a welcome and delicious taco salad - generous portion - Heartland organic beer and a yummy matcha muffin to finish.

Delicious but tiny portions - Edit
The food was delicious but unfortunately the portions (especially the pasta) were tiny. Since we were still hungry we ordered some cake (which was delicious) but overall the dinner got quite expensive and we were still not completely full.

River views & great food - Edit
I really enjoyed my experience sitting on the wall of windows over looking the river while enjoying breakfast. I started with the homemade ginger ale. SO GOOD. Next I had a pumpkin muffin which was good. Then I enjoyed the veggie panini. It had a lot of flavor and when paired with the muffin was a good amount of good.

Too expensive - Edit
Edit: I found out they accidentally switched the 2nd and the 3rd number, but still. Also: shouldn't happen.
Read moreI had the starter plate and a curry, the price of the curry is okay, I guess, but the starter plate is too expensive in my opinion. Prices are without tax. I also didn't wanted to order the starter plate, I mistook it for a main dish, because of the explanation I got.

Great view, Great lunch! - Edit
Popular! I had to wait 45 minutes for a table but once i did it was well worth it, would visit again but closer to the opening time. Great lunch food, amazing view over the river! The desserts we tried were tasty but too expensive for the sizes in my opinion. The food was very well priced though! Would recommend if exploring kyoto!
