SO GOOD - Edit
Heard many a time that UVK is great. Finally went because it was close by (23rd St CE station). Oh my goodness! Absolutely fantastic. The vibes are immaculate, with excellent music, decor and staff. I think the best chick’n and waffles in the city. Delicious loaded broccoli. The orange juice based mocktail with cinnamon was also divine. And what a treat to have a non alcoholic espresso martini!

A must visit in NYC - Edit
Lovely food, lovely people! We had several things and everything was good, but the Luca Brasi salmon pasta is crazy good! And don't sleep on the desserts, not with a tahini chocolate chip cookie like that! This is the kind of vegan place that's getting hard to find - a nice sit down atmosphere with table service and reasonable prices. So please support!

Great options, vegan version of typical American food. We came for breakfast and tried a waffle with seitan and kale and a breakfast sandwich, which was amazing! Portions are big, service is very friendly!

Great urban vegan food! - Edit
Ordered the mac and cheese and the seitan scallopini.
Read moreThe mac and cheese was good. Think it was a nooch and plant milk based one. Was topped with a nooch nut dust and a few scallions. Was pretty good but not cheesey enough for my liking.
The seitan scallopini was fantastic. Think the seitan was house made and had some good crispy edges. Was served on mash potato’s with a caper lemon and mushroom sauce.
Would love to return to try more of the comfort food menu!

Fantastic! - Edit
We got the Mac and Cheese and added the gochujang wings on top. So delicious! Also got the Egg McNothing - very yummy! Split both between two people and was satisfied by the amount of food. Would have ordered more but having an early dinner. Arrived right when they opened and had no trouble getting a table. Spoke with the owner who was very friendly and knowledgeable! Service was friendly and quick. Definitely planning to come back the next time we are in town!

Disturbingly good! - Edit
The salmon fettuccine is absolutely mind blowing- the salmon is so salmony that you will question yourself if it’s really vegan. And the fettuccine is so creamy it’s crazy. The bbq wings are also quite delicious and spicy. The staff is super friendly and sweet. Fully vegan and amazing! The prices are good too. And the atmosphere is very NyC with a great playlist! Loved it!

Great meal and service! - Edit
We were a little anxious bc it was empty at 7 on a Saturday but the menu looked great so we stayed. We had a phenomenal waitress and the food was so good! The vegan Mac (we added broccoli and shitakes) was delicious. Often vegan Mac can be too heavy handed but this had the right balance of cashew cream and salt and I loved that the broccoli was al dente. We also shared the BLT which was classic and so good. For dessert we split a warm chocolate chip tahini cookie with sea salt. Great overall!

We loved the decor and music. 80s! And the people were very nice. The food was tasty. We were visiting from out of town, so we always go to as many vegan restaurants as possible. My husband loved the chik’n waffle.

A tad pricey - Edit
Had to be in downtown overnight, so I ordered delivery from here. It was a tad bit pricey but I expect that for Manhattan. The delivery was rough (so no pictures) but the food was really tasty. I had asked for salt/pepper to be included. Never needed either! Ordered the seitan scallopini. Excellent!

After a long time coming,.... - Edit
After a long time coming, I finally got the chance to eat here, and I honestly got to say it was delicious. I had the steak and rice, wild rice to be exact with a ginger apricot sauce on top of the vegan steak, and they achieved a texture that I could never get in the comfort of my own home when it came to that steak. And the wild rice stir fry was absolutely delicious. And now that I'm standing at home, no longer in the city, I'm enjoying the tahini chocolate chip cookie, which is soft and well together and not overtly sweet.
Read moreAs I revisited and finally got to achieve my visiting a friend in the city trip wishlist, I noticed back in 2018 to now that most of the restaurants I wanted to visit are permanently closed down due to the pandemic, also known as the great reset for some people. And to see that this one is still going. It fills me with joy.
Pros: Yeah, variety of vegan soul food., Cocktail and Mocktail List., overtly friendly staff and great ambiance

A Delicious Meal - Edit
The Urban Vegan Kitchen has a menu full of delicious options, making it very hard to decide what to order! The restaurant has a great vibe, decorated with cool murals and lots of celeb photos! I chose the BLT and side salad and my husband ate the burrito. Both were very delicious and flavorful!

Just Ok and Highly Priced - Edit
I got the vegan Mac which was literally covered in just raw nooch. If that’s your thing then maybe you’ll love it, but to me it was gross.
Read moreI also got the fried green tomatoes. They were SO good until I realized I paid $12 for literally 3 tomato slices cut in half. Sauce was very good with it.
My partner got the BLT with onion rings. She loved the sandwich, but the onion rings weren’t worth the money. They weren’t really seasoned.
Pros: Fully vegan menu, Varied options
Cons: Too expensive, Just ok food, Needs more seasoning

A little pricey, but incredible - Edit
This place truly makes each of its menu items into a work of art. I had a "salmon" pasta with a delectable cashew "cheese" sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, and fresh lemon when I was there and it was one of the most flavorful and satisfying things I've ever eaten. The same goes for their delicious salmon burger which is made out of the same vegan alternative, and it satisfies exactly like a real salmon burger without the heaviness of fish. It'd be remiss of me to not also mention the mocktail I had there which was a very refreshing and comforting blend of orange juice, pineapple, cinnamon and seamoss – sounds a bit strange but it was a combination that worked perfectly! Love the creativity.

I finally had a chance to drop in for dinner for the first time. The atmosphere and general vibe are great: There's a full bar, it's dimly lit, with great decor and music.
Read moreService was first class, and the menu had a great range.
I decided to try the wings and the steak sandwich, which were pretty good, but if I'm being honest, I've had better elsewhere. (Comfort food tends to be a common theme for vegan restaurants).
My mocktail was excellent though. I'll definitely come back and try something else.

Great vegan meat options - Edit
Fully vegan place and was cool inside with great vibes. My husband got the chicken and waffles and he liked them other than the creamy sauce which didn’t really go. I got the fried rice with vegan steak and it was really tasty but a little bit over cooked on the rice. We shared the coconut sheik and that was my favourite thing it was delicious and super crispy. I enjoyed it but compared to other stuff we tried in NY it wasn’t my favourite. Lovely staff as well.

The "salmon" is out of this world! - Edit
This place is amazing. Cool music and decor, super sweet and helpful workers, and of course AMAZING food. The korean "chicken" appetizer was both crispy and juicy and super flavorful. I had the salmon and alfredo entree and the salmon is actually unbelievable. The realism in look and flavor is so accurate that if I wasn't in a fully vegan restaurant I would've been scared someone mixed up my order with real salmon.. Needless to say I totally reccomend this place.
