BEST place in Rome

Here for 4 days and the only place that blew me away! You can always tell when vegan cheese is home made and it was so tasty

Everything I dreamt of

I am Italian, and I have been (literally) dreaming about trying at Rifugio Romano.
I had the suppli’, the carbonara and the tiramisu. Oh my god: vegan heaven.
Everything tastes sooooo good!

Spoilt for choice

Friend had gorgeous pizza I had 3D printed steak followed by tiramisu - all gorgeous. Wish we could go back every day!

Pros: So much choice , All looked great , Friendly staff

Cons: Strong cheesy smell lingering (did get used to), So much choice - had to decide!

🤌🏻

This was first first stop in Italy, and I’m glad it was my first night dinner. The food, of course, was very delicious. I had to get the carbonara, and it was my favorite pasta I had gotten in Italy. The bruschetta and croquette were delicious, as well. My only regret is not going back a second time😒and also not getting a dessert, but I was way too full

Perfect for our last night in Rome

Cute place. The weather was gorgeous and they sat us outside. Everything we had was so good. The pasta was perfect, and the 3-D printed meat was a special treat. We had it a few years ago in London and it’s nice to see the trend is catching on. The desserts were scrumptious. Make reservations; the place is busy and we saw several people turned away while we were eating. We found the service to be good and our server was very friendly. This is within walking distance from the main train terminal in the center of Rome.

Pros: The food, The service, The food!

Stunning food- service somewhat rushed

The food from here is absolutely outstanding.

The cannelloni was one of the best things we'd tasted in Rome, filled with a delicious meaty ragu. The gnocchi was also very good, with some wonderful attention to detail in aspects of the dish, notably some deep fried aubergine pieces which were delicious.

The tempeh parmigiana was like nothing I've had before, the tempeh was so soft and really tasty. The steak (redefine?) was the most realistic meat taste I've ever had- more so than Juicy Marbles or Chunk (although I preferred the taste of those other two).

One thing I will say here is our second plates came out less than a minute after they'd cleared our primi, and with the well put together presentation on the plate, there's no way that could have been done in that time- meaning the plates must have been sat under hot lights for at least a few minutes before coming out to us- potentially longer. I feel the steak would have been ever better if it would have been prepared once our first courses were cleared, and I did think overall the service was a little rushed- although the waiters we're friendly and chatty, it felt like there was a priority on getting through as many covers as possible, which is sort of a shame given the food itself is so great and deserves the time to enjoy each one with the break you'd expect between courses

Pros: Cannelloni, Tempeh parmigiana, Gnocchi

Perfect birthday meal

We went here for my birthday meal - we split arancini and croquettes for starters, and then the woodcar pizza and mushroom pasta for mains. All of it was SO tasty!! The staff were lovely, we could book in advance and had a nice table. The decor is nice and theres a nice bathroom. The bill was even less than we were expecting!! I wish we were here for longer so we could go back - a much better experience that the Buddy Roma trip we had on our first night.

Good gnocchi but a bit pricey

Enjoyed the gnocchi and 3D printed steak. The starter (moscardini, fried mushrooms) and tiramisu were a bit disappointing though. It was also expensive compared to other restaurants in Rome. So would recommend it, but there are hits and misses on the menu.

Just amazing!

Great vegan versions of traditional Italian food. The carbonara was super good and we had the 3D printed meat which was mind-blowing (a bit too close to the real thing). Also had some starters and dessert. Not my favourite one, but a very solid and tasty option in Rome.

Open late and delivers

We ordered delivery from Deliveroo. Food was ok. The arinchini was fantastic. The two pastas we ordered were ok. Not sure if the food would have been better in person. The foccassia was thin the pizza crust.

Cons: Focaccia

Super good!!

We tried a lot of starters and for the main dishes we went for the carbonara and gricia. Everything was super good and tasty!! A very good restaurant with cruelty free alternatives to classical roman dishes

I took the eggplant with filling as first, the calzone with cheese as the maim course, and the nutella crape as dessert. All superbe. So nice to find such verity of cuisines in Rome.

Great food. Great location. But do not go for the 3D meat / fish

I loved everything about this restaurant advised by NON vegan friends. Great tasty food. Very impressed with the gourmet choices offered. However, few minor disappointments: the service (quite slow), the 3D printed fish (not really even closer), the dessert (a panna cotta far too sugary). That said i would go back for the more conventional seitan-based meat, the risotto, etc. Well done. And thanks to my friends for the hint.

Great selection, great taste

We got the calzone picantino and summer Seiten salad and both were absolutely delicious. We're seriously disappointed we only discovered this place on our last day, because we definitely would have come back to try their pastas and other salads.
The flavours were so good and rich and the salad was fresh.

Pros: Selection, Flavours, Freshness

Great authentic Italian

We had great dishes and were so hungry we didn’t take any pictures. The 3D printed soy meat though was AMAZING. Also the tiramisu! 👌

Pros: Authenticity , Italian food, Need to reserve as so popular.

Amazing all vegan restaurant

Rifugio Romano was recommended to me by a friend before my trip to Rome, and wow—this turned out to be one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. We shared a few dishes plus a dessert, and everything was outstanding. The restaurant fills up quickly, so I definitely recommend making a reservation. A must-visit if you’re in Rome.

Pros: 100% vegan, Many dishes to choose from, Absolutely delicious

Tasty, but Doesn't Match Hype

Maybe it's because my past history with vegan Italian food spoils me (LA), but the food here didn't match the hype we saw elsewhere. My calzone was flavorful and interesting and my wife's carbonara tasty, but we had better pasta elsewhere in Italy (and even Rome).
