Perfectly fine veg place - Edit
This place in the center of Catania has two (or three?) long "community" tables with benches and seats maybe 40 people in total.
Read moreAll ingredients (and the wine) are organically sourced according to the daily menu, which is in english and italian. Gluten free and vegan dishes are clearly marked, I'd say more than 50% is vegan.
You choose a few items and get everything on a large plate. Prices are surprisingly low.

Very good! - Edit
I had lunch there and I really enjoyed it. You can choose as many dishes as you want to compose your plate, it is a buffet. There are lots of vegan options and everything was tasty (most of them are also gluten free)
Read moreThe desserts are quite simple but good (all vegan and GF on that day)
The price is also quite fair : 34 euros for 2 large plates and 2 desserts
Pros: Vegan and GF options , Variety , Quality
Cons: Nothing

Nice restaurant, good food - Edit
The best things about this restaurant are its location - in the heart of Naples - and its setup, a beautiful long restaurant with shared tables and an open kitchen. The staff were friendly, and the food was generally good, with variations on Italian classics such as risotto and pasta. However, the wholefood/health focus meant that the dishes were a bit hit-and-miss in terms of flavour - of the six we tried on two mixed plates, I only really enjoyed three. Nonetheless, this is a good choice if you're looking for something a little different from the typical dishes you'll find in most local restaurants.

Simply delicious - Edit
We went there following a recommendation of our host at Catania and were not disappointed. Each of our four dishes was really delicious, neither boring nor over-sophisticated, a wonderful balance between traditional recipes and innovative vegan cookery.
Read moreThe place is simply but nicely decorated, but could be considered not too comfortable due to lack of space (or for people who don't like eating at a long table and sitting on benches).
Great variety of wine and other beverages, many labelled vegan.
Pros: Fresh made food, but oh so quick!, Great variety of local wines etc., Friendly staff
Cons: Why not replace cheese e.g. with vegan things?

Urban cuisine - Edit
The Restaurant is in the middle of the creative and pulsating heart of Catania, which seems to be the most vegan friendly city in Sicily.
Read moreThe staff was very friendly, they translated the whole menu for us, cos it was only available in Italian.
They use mainly seasonal fruits and vegetables. The dishes are partly very innovative and you always find many vegan options on the menu.
The portions were really small and they were served on one plate, which was a little bit irritating for us.
The mashed lentils with Tagliatelle were really good!
Pros: Friendly English speaking staff, nice atmosphere , wide range of vegan options
Cons: no English menu, All courses were served on one plate, all people sitting at a bench

Definitely worth a visit - Edit
Explicitly vegetarian food is not at all in the culture of this tradition-obsessed island. This is a pity, since all the delicious ingredients can be found, including the typical Italian creativity. La Cucina dei Colori puts them together in simple dishes, some of which are surprising and delicious. They offer cooking courses as well (almost surely not in English). I recommend ordering a mixed plate with 3,4 or 5 different things. When I was there, everything was vegan or vegetarian.
Read moreI also recommend to try the desserts. Think "nerdy creation, almost healthy" rather than "sugar flash" when you order the dark chocolate mousse.
Pros: Delicious food
Cons: Uncozy hall atmosphere, No good website with opening times

Don't miss it! - Edit
What a joy to find this place so near our hotel. The food - entirely vegan - is truly outstanding. We chose the option of mixing dishes, which meant that between two of us we sampled eight different dishes, all of which were absolutely delicious. Wine was good too, and a nice atmosphere, with long tables and the kitchen visible.

Absolutely recommendable! - Edit
My husband and I visited la "Cucina dei Colori" in October 2014. Fortunately, we got the last two seats at the long table without having a reservation.
Read moreWe were offered to order either the normal "Italian way" (= first course and/or second course + dessert) or to arrange a mixed plate of three, four or five dishes of our choice for a fix price. Of course, we tested almost the whole menu by ordering five dishes each.
The food tasted great (though being admittedly a little cold) and was accompanied by an excellent wine.
We didn't recognize any meat or fish neither on the menu (as far as I understood with my knowledge of the Italian language) nor on our plates!
Pros: delicious food, excellent wine, interesting concept in general
Cons: temperature of the food
