Very decent deli-style food - Edit
La Cucina dei Colori is an all-vegetarian restaurant where you pick what you want from the service counter, deli style. Items are clearly marked on the menu board as vegan or gluten-free, but it's all in Italian—the staff will be happy to translate for you though, or you can just look at what's offered today.
Read moreYou can order a single item, or get a combo plate with 2, 3, or 4 items for a discounted total. 4 items will definitely fill your tummy. They have soda, kombucha, and wine, and a few desserts too. The kombucha tasted harder than I am used to back home, so if you avoid alcohol you might not want that. Take note: Most dishes are not hot, they are just slightly warm.

We went there twice because they offer different items every day. We really appreciated that the staff cared about vegan options and clearly told us which dishes were vegan. You can choose a combination of different meals served on one plate — either 2, 3, or 4 options. For us, the 3-meal combo was the most suitable. Our favorite items were the chickpea fritters and the gnocchi. They also take care of some stray cats, which is just an extra point in my book.

I think the vibe of this restaurant was really nice and everything on the menu sounded delicious. But in the end most of the food we ordered was a bit bland and could have used a bit more salt and/or spices/herbs. I expected a bit more but the food was still good.

Could not leave Catania before going to thus place. Ironically it was near the trattoria my colleague was boasting about cos if their meat. 🤮.

I came here twice when in Catania and would definitely recommend making a reservation here.It’s quite loud inside and tables are communal

Cozy little restaurant with friendly staff. They suggested the selection of various meals we eventually had and I am glad we took the advice. Everything was tasty and I especially liked the couscous salad and the lasagna. The walnut bread was delicious too. Recommended!

Great veggie/vegan restaurant in Catania! - Edit
This was my second time at La Cucina Dei Colori and I had a very good experience. There aren’t many vegan places in Catania so this is a welcome surprise . The food is varied and delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. The outside tables really enhance the dining experience! The first time I went we waited quite a while but this time the food was served quickly and efficiently. I definitely recommend it!

We were treated rudely by this restaurant. We arrived just prior to opening to see if we could secure a table for dinner. They offered us either a 30 minute seating outside, as they said the outside tables were booked, or a position at the front table inside, which we accepted. When we returned at opening less than 10 minutes later they had given the booking to someone else (the only people in the restaurant). They were unapologetic about this and offered us seating towards the back of the restaurant near the kitchen which was totally unsuitable. If they weren’t going to hold the table for us they shouldn’t have gone through the pretence of taking our name as a booking. They clearly knew the people they had given the table to & we can only assume they are not interested in tourists. This was a very disappointing experience.

There seem to be not a lot vegan restaurants in Catania so we had to try this one. Unfortunately we didn't enjoy the food. We had a cold vegan lasagna that tasted super artifical, dry chickpea flour "pancakes" and because we were still hungry because of the small portion sizes brown rice with zucchini and peppers. Which was more of a side dish. If you want to support vegan/vegetarian places you can give it a try... The dessert was good and they have local drinks.
