Great food and service

I had some amazing food and drink here. The deserts are amazing and difficult to find ones as good as this which are vegan. All staff were very friendly and a really nice atmosphere.

Cafe Thrive is my favorite vegan spot in Southampton!

I've been to Cafe Thrive twice since finding out about it on HappyCow, and I've loved both my visits. Their menu is 100% vegan, so vegans can order anything with peace of mind (so refreshing.) The staff is extremely friendly and are always happy to answer any questions about the menu. After you order upfront and tell them your table number, which is up to you which table you want (even upstairs), they kindly bring your order to you as soon as it's ready. Some of my favorite items they serve are the Very Berry Purple Smoothie (might wanna order 2 if you're a smoothie lover.. it's that good) and the Wholefood Burger.

Pros: 100% Vegan, Food brought to your table, Varied menu

Yummy vegan food

Always a must when in Southampton! All food is vegan so no worries about what to choose on the menu. Good quality and very fresh. A lovely cafe style vibe doing burgers, sandwiches, salads and cakes amongst other things. I had a Classic falafel sandwich which comes with homemade hummus, roasted veg and tahini dressing. With this you get salad dressed with nuts and a dressing. You can ask for gluten free too. Cost was £4.99 (less for takeaway).

Pros: Great friendly staff and atmosphere brilliant.

Cons: None

Slice of heaven

Visited Southampton for work and decided to try here for my dinner, being that it's 100% vegan.
I loved the interior - the art on the walls is lovely. The service is very friendly and relaxed. I felt at ease.
The food was excellent and piping hot. I tried the seitan burger ("chicken") with mayo and cheese and it was divine. Then I ordered a chocolate brownie sundae and it was so damn good!

100% will return if in the area

Pros: Delicious food, Great service, Plenty of seating (there's an upstairs area too)

Best in Southampton

As the only fully vegan restaurant in Southampton city centre, we eat here all the time. Great food at reasonable prices (10% student discount) and the weekly specials mean that there’s always something new to try. Good mixture of healthy options and vegan junk food - faves include the TLT, the brownie bowl, and the Oreo milkshake 💚

Best vegan restaurant I've been to!

If you want to try some substitute meat that does not taste like bland soy crap then this is the place for you. I find their replacement chicken to be outstanding, their 'meaty' burger which is an attempt at fake beaf is very good too.

Pros: Best replacement meat I've tried, Not a pretentious atmosphere, Good customer service with staff happy to acomate

Cons: Their salad bowl are not the best

Good vegan options

Me and my partner stopped there for a dinner on our way to the seaside.
The food was good, the portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. We loved the burgers and the waffles! They also have a good choice of cakes to take away :)

The only thing we didnt like - the staff wasnt really attentive.
We ordered our mains and drinks. The mains arrived after 15min and my latte still wasnt there. We had to go and ask abou it - it then turned out that they forgot.. When we got our mains my partner asked for extra mayo for his burger - the guy who served us brought it after we finished eating..
And the cafe wasnt even half full so they werent too busy,

Pros: all vegan menu, portion size, prices

Cons: staff not paying enough attention

Best Vegan Cafe!

I go here far too much... I love it all, I usually have the Meaty Burger with Tempeh rashers but I try to get other things now and again to mix it up. Always try to save room for desert... they are epic! The other week I tried the Breakfast muffin... so good, I can't understand how they make the poached 'egg' but it's great. Junk and healthy options available and a great price for the portion sizes. Friendly staff, nice decor, chilled atmosphere... can't say enough good things about this place!

Pros: All vegan independent business

So much choice!

I visit here regularly, amazing vegan cafe can't fault it😄Big menu of small and big plates, deserts, fresh baked goods, coffees. They even have a little shop section with specialised food items like whipped cream to buy and use at home.

Poor customer service

Their customer service is unfortunately the drawback for me. If your going for coffee it’s fine but when it comes to food it’s a different story.

As there is always loud music playing the cashier can never hear your properly so they end up guessing what you ordered. I ordered a veg burger with sweet potato fries. When the item came out they put normal chips on instead, when I complained they took the plate (put the plate on a dirty sink!) then came back and said it was my fault as did not order sweet potato fries (I did) Also instead of bringing me a new dish as I could see they had left it on the sink they gave me back that plate! The chips were cold and they did not even offer to get fresh chips. Disappointing.

Second visit I thought I will give them another chance and ordered from their bakery item. Again they gave me the wrong order. . . Again the cashier was not listening.

Hello,

Thank you very much for taking the time to give us some feed back on your experience at our Cafe. We're really sorry to hear about your experience and will take your comments into consideration regarding the volume of the music and the fact that you were not given a fresh plate which isn't the standard we would expect our customers to receive. We hope you will also accept our apologies for the poor customer service you received - we do get extremely busy but this shouldn't have happened. Are you able to tell us which day and time you came in so we can look into this?

Please contact me on sarah@cafethrive.co.uk so we can make it up to you.

Best wishes and thank you again for the review.

Food heaven

Working trip to Southampton wouldn’t be the same without a trip to this little delightful place. Portions are huge! So bring a friend. There’s an open kitchen. It’s a busy little place, food is tasty with lots of options. Price is reasonable and staff are friendly. Will definitely be back 🌱

Disappointed

2 Breakfasts & 1 Salad
I had high hopes coming here, as the reviews were so good, but unfortunately all three of us were disappointed with our meals.

The salad was okay, but drowned in too much dressing, which made it difficult to get through.

My 8 year old daughter only ate the beans and toast of her breakfast as she didn't like the rest of it.
I didn't have the heart to make her finish the rest as although I hate waste, I had to agree with her - it wasn't great.
The 1 vegan sausage was dried out and bland. The scrambled tofu was burnt in areas and almost completely tasteless... it was all just so bland.

I come from Jersey and we have no 100% Vegan places here yet, so I was super excited to go to a Vegan cafe. My friend is not Vegan, and I wanted him to have a good experience too. We laughed that there were only two things on the menu that he could eat (chips and the salad that he got), as it's usually me with this problem (he struggled because of the amount of meat subs, tofu, tempeh and mushrooms - this isn't the cafe's fault he's fussy, but that's why he ended up with the salad).

This was the first place we ate at, after an early morning flight into Southampton, and I've got to say that I was hugely disappointed. It left us all hungry, and doubting the quality of food to come in other places, as I used this 4 day trip as an opportunity to eat at as many vege places as possible.

I expected that a place which specialises in Vegan food would have smashed a breakfast and have all the flavours dialled in, but it tasted like I'd just given a carnivore a packet of silken tofu, some nooch and some rubbish quality sausages and told them to make a breakfast from it.

Sorry guys, maybe the rest of your menu is amazing, but all three of us agreed that we wouldn't be coming back again.

The staff were friendly and polite and the decor is great... just the food wasn't.

Pros: Friendly Staff, Decor, Metal Straws in drinks

Cons: Breakfast Bland, Salad drowned in dressing, Horrible sausages

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback on your visit to our Cafe- we're very sorry to hear you didn't have a good experience!

We pride ourselves on the range of menu items we offer and strive to offer something for everyone to enjoy- our breakfasts are usually well received and popular but we're very sorry to seemed to have a received one below our usual standard.

The vast majority of reviews we get are very positive and we are confident that we offer the best vegan food in the area, so we really hope you're able to visit us again in the future and try some of our other menu items!

Would you be able to help us improve ourselves by getting in touch to let me know which date you visited and which salad your friend ordered?

Cafe Thrive

Can't rave enough about Cafe Thrive!

There are the 'more healthy' options, like many different salads and smoothies. I recommend the Big Thrive Bowl and the green smoothie.

Then there are the 'more comfort food' options, such as burgers and pizzas, and desserts. I really loved the 'chicken' burger, made of seitan. There is also soup and a specials menu that changes every week.

The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous. Even non-vegans I know have wanted to go back!

Pros: Lots of variety, something for everyone, Generous portions, Reasonably priced

Cons: Sometimes it's busy

Best Vegan Place Everrrr

I’m very lucky to live just down the road from Thrive and I make a point to go in there whenever I can (several times a week). The food is amazing and the staff are always really friendly. There’s a nice park across the road that I always like taking my food to on a sunny day.

Amazing food and large portions

We ordered a vegan chicken wrap and a burger and were stuffed after. Everything very yummy. There is a kids menu and my children loved the pizzas and can’t wait to go back

Pros: Very affordable as you can share a main, Healthy & friendly, Kids friendly

Cons: Low selection of dessert, Waffle was healthy but not as yummy as a normal 1
