Delicious Sushi! - Edit
I was really excited about visiting Beyond Sushi and found the menu really exciting - I wish I could have tried more dishes! We shared the fried chick'n bao, which were really flavoursome, along with the might mushroom, oshizushi spicy salmon, and smoky dragon rolls. They were all really tasty, though the salmon was perhaps a bit too subtle for me. The smoky dragon rolls were my absolute favourite, so much flavour. We also tried the ube cashew cheesecake, which was creamy but not quite what we'd been hoping for - the predominant flavour was nuts rather than ginger, the base was extremely thin, and the streusel was more like dust. It was fine, but not quite what we'd been hoping for. We wished we'd gone for an extra savoury plate instead of dessert, because all the savoury dishes were fantastic.

Beyond Sushi has a lunch special as of this writing. For only $17 I chose that iconic spicy mango roll and the Nutty Buddy wrap. I was full. The service was spot-on and the decor was modern yet comfortable.

All vegan sushi place. I‘ve been there with an omni friend and she was absolutely stunned and couldn’t believe that the „salmon“ she was eating is actually vegan. We shared dumplings, 2 different sushi rolls and dessert - everything was more than delicious!

Had to come back after our last visit a few years ago! They have such interesting and exciting sushi rolls and appetizers, it’s nice to have something better than just cucumber in my sushi haha. We got the ginger dumplings, oyster mushroom bao and the rainbow sushi roll and everything was delicious. Definitely want to come back and try more things on my next trip back to the city!

I’m kind of an eggplant aubergine connoisseur having cooked and eaten a lot of it! I’m very picky and only like it when it’s not hard, has to be soft yet still retain its shape. Kind of like biting into warm butter is my fav way of enjoying it. Melty and dreamy. They hit the nail on the head. The eggplant is perfectly cooked! Mixed with the sushi rice, seaweed and flavourings: wow!! I would come back here just for that dish forever! Totally dreamy and really well done! I’m a whole foods vegan and don’t really enjoy soy or substitutes in general, they have many good plates for that!

We had a giant work happy hour (13 people!) for me at this restaurant so I at least had a bite of a ton of different dishes and they were all so good! The rainbow roll, bao, and tartare were the most memorable. The tartare was amazing and had all the non-vegans in attendance in awe and I think that was the dish that opened up the most eyes to what vegan food can be!

Honestly, I was a little skeptical about Beyond Sushi and thought they were pretty gimmicky and latching onto trends. Never bothered giving them a try until this past year.
Read moreSpicy jackfruit crab roll was my favorite. Philly roll was good as well. Ube crunch roll was okay, it wasn't very crunchy and the rice was kind of stale (like refrigerator maki rolls).
Dumplings were fine, seemed to be overly steamed and soggy. Shiitake truffle were my favorite out of the 3.
Smoked oyster mushroom bao was my least favorite bite of the night, I couldn't get past the texture of the mushrooms. They had a pop and chew similar to wakame seaweed. Fried chik'n bao was fine, could have used more sauce though. Wasn't expecting nuggets that looked like they came out of a bag.
The ube cashew cheesecake was amazing and delicious. I love how their desserts aren't overly sweet and don't make you feel guilty. Loved the black sesame avocado cookie as well.
Service was great and the interior of the restaurant was clean.

Peanut noodle salad thing was awesome, and the miso soup serving was huge! Enough for 3 people to share.
