Hungry for delicious vegan food upon arrival in NYC, we walked here straight from Penn Station with our suitcases in tow. As the host directed us to our table, he stopped to ask, you are aware that we are fully vegan? I said, so are we! (All I can guess is that they've had tourists leave in a huff before. )
Read moreWe ordered the lunch special for $19 which included two choices from the menu. I ordered the Shiitake Truufle Dumplings and a Mighty Mushroom roll. Both were delicious, and it was the perfect amount of food for lunch.

I am sooo full! Went as a group. Had the appetizer special of 6!! Sushi rolls. They were delicious and creatively displayed. Then had the pork which was good. But I preferred the sushi. My husband had the rainbow roll which was very flavorful. Friend had the steak. The Ubu cheesecake was also so good! Do not skip that. The hazelnut dome tasted just like a Ferrero Rocher candy- So it was very good but the cheesecake was better. Can’t wait to return.

Extremely mediocre vegan sushi, especially compared to Planta (NY) and Shizen (SF). Sushi rolls were bland, unimaginative, and emphasized fake meat.

Servers were not attentive or personable, took 30 minutes to get our check.
Had high expectations based on other Guy Vaknin restaurants (Reverie, Anixi, etc), but this was by far the worst one. Go to his other restaurants!

I went here for an impromptu dinner after some train issues at Penn, which is a short walk away. Friendly service and cool atmosphere. A little pricey but nothing outrageous for NYC/midtown. The spicy ramen was great as was the Kagua Blanc beer! Especially enjoyed the eggplant, noodles and broth. Looking forward to coming back.

We ordered 5 rolls for two people and each had a cocktail- didn’t have ro for dessert. The crab roll is my favorite but you can’t go wrong with the standard tuna/salmon rolls. I also love the mushroom salad. Beautiful decor as well!

The food was good but not special. I enjoyed the sushi roll I tried – it was a combination of mango and black rice, I think – and I also had a nice bowl of sesame ramen. The ramen came with a very realistic vegan "runny egg" as well as some soy "chicken" cutlets and nicely cooked mushrooms. These elements were all great but the broth tasted a little too bitter from the tahini imo. Portion was also a bit small especially for the price. All in all a good experience but might not go again for a while considering the portion-to-price ratio.

Loved the sushi and dessert - Edit
I ordered a pretty basic “salmon” avocado roll, it was delicious and had “caviar” on top (not sure what it is, but I really loved the texture). The roll was so good I wish I ordered another type too. I also got the grilled chicken bao bun which was very good (apparently it’s spicy but I have a high tolerance) also got the coconut mousse cake which was my favorite!! The mango yuzu in it was delectable!

Superb Vegan - Edit
Service was excellent. We had the sushi sampler, which the four of us shared, each having a taste of 6 different sushi flavors. Then 2 of us had the mushroom salad, while the other 2 had a spicy noodle dish. For desert, we all shared one slice of cheesecake, as we had read in a review it was good. I don't care for cheesecake, as normally it is way to heavy, but this was light and creamy. Overall a superb experience.

I'd try it again... - Edit
I had the maki sampler and a delicious miso soup. The soup was great, the sampler has a lot of rolls that were on the sweet side, I would have preferred them more savory but they were great nonetheless. The Chef owns a bunch of other vegan restaurants with different concepts and I'm exited to try them all. The staff can provide a list for you.

Easiest 5 star of my life - Edit
This might have been one of my favorite meals ever vegan/not. The pork shumai was unreal. An absolute flavor bomb!! I still am having a hard time believing it was vegan. The spicy salmon oshizushi was one of the best things I've ever eaten--literally every element on it was perfection including the rice. Some zing, some spice, some smoke. Absolute perfection. As someone who used to be addicted to salmon sushi of any variety this brought a little tear to my eye. And the ube cheesecake was hands down the best vegan cheesecake I've ever had. The texture was unbelievable. Earned it's spot in New York with that alone. The service was also crazy fast. Everything came out within minutes but tasted freshly prepared. I went last night and plan to go back again before I leave town!!

Crab Rangoons were unreal - Edit
Lovely food and the ‘crab’ Rangoons with cream cheese dip were absolutely amazing! The sushi was nice and fresh but both were supposed to be spicy and weren’t so would have liked some more spice with them. The sticky brussell sprouts were tasty and I can’t say no to a sprout! The matcha strawberry tart was lovely but they put raw matcha powder on the top which wasn’t pleasant to eat. Overall lovely food and atmosphere.
