Vegan junk food bar serves rather bland foods, the dishes are really standard and the buns are very dry. Everything is oily up to the point were it feels heavy on the stomach and it is very expensive. Also the staff is usually uninterested

Really lovely big chunky burgers with loads of filling and colourful buns! Atmosphere in this square was great in the evening too, lots of nice bars and people having drinks. We really enjoyed it. It was incredibly filling too!

I had really been looking forward to eating here, as there were so many good reviews! Unfortunately, for me Vegan Junk Food Bar didn‘t live up to the hype.
Read moreI understand that they try to be something like Burger King in vegan and in better. But I was disappointed that every meal except some side dishes relied on fake meat or fake fish. I know many long-time vegans and vegetarians who aren‘t keen on that – we haven‘t eaten meat for over 25 years, and for me, a good bean burger for example is so much better! Even Burger King offers bean burgers, don‘t they?
I tried the MC Cruelty Free, which is the classic burger. For me, it wasn‘t a good burger. It was boring (except the colour of the bun) and the patty pretty tasteless.
I loved the Chocozito dessert, though, and staff was very nice! Food presentation is great!
I really wish they would cater for all vegans.

The menu here was extensive and offered lots of great “vegan junk food” options. I was happy with the meals I tried - caesar salad and the Fly Wingz. They also had some tasty, if not a bit pricey, cocktails! Overall, super solid but not exceptional.

After being seated, it then took us a similar amount of time for anyone to ask us for our order or drinks. Not a big deal, but it seemed a bit disorganized with other patrons who arrived after us ordering and being served before us.
Would go again on a quieter night!

Vegan junk food you can't get elsewhere - Edit
While they are known for their burgers, I decided to order items that are hard to find (or not possible to get) elsewhere. The Fizz n Chipz was a vegan lekkerbek (fried fish) on top of French fries and covered in garlic sauce.. The fries stayed crispy despite all the sauce. and the fish tasted like what I remember the traditional Dutch lekkerbek tasted like, although the fried batter was much crunchier than any fried fish I've ever had. The chicken satay version of Dutch bitterballen (round croquettes) was fun to try but I prefer the vegetable and traditional "meat" ragout flavors. It was quite impressive how they got so much peanut sauce into a fried ball, but the chik'n bits were very small, hard to find and lacking taste. Definitely enjoyed my visit but also think it's on the pricey side.

Fizz XO FTW - Edit
Although I never heard of this place it’s clear it’s on the hip and modern side, proven by the length of wait to get a table, the branding, aesthetic and food coloring. As the name suggests the menu is predominantly fried junk food that is creative, and for that I give points.
Read moreI was ending a 24 hour fast so I went incredibly hungry and tried both the Fizz XO burger and the Sumo Platter, which contains mac n cheese balls, shrimp, chicken, onion rings and a whole lot more.
The Fizz Burger and Mac n Cheese balls are where it’s at! As a vegan I’ve never had “Cod” before but it tasted great and glad I got these two. Everything else, was mediocre at best albeit very filling. I left wishing they’d spend more time on the taste and less on the food coloring and IG factor. Still, worth the experience for the two great items I mentioned.

Last day in Amsterdam and we had agreed that we should try the burgers at Vegan Junk Food Bar before we went home.
Read moreThey have several burger bars in town so we agreed that when we got hungry we would see which one we were closest to.
They make some pretty colorful burgers, so now it was just a matter of choosing which ones to try.
We ended up ordering a "Fizz XO" (black bun) - that's their alternative to a fish burger without fish. Maybe it sounds strange, but we just have to promise because it could do something - the consistency and taste were spot on 💚💚💚
The other one we tried was their “Daddy” burger (pink bun).
This was their “chicken” burger, but again without chicken.
Both burgers were good, but “Fizz XO” was definitely our favorite.
The dip for our fries was a “Pinky T.R.U.F.” and a “Purple Garlic”.
A huge thumbs up for their kombucha, the best we have tasted, perhaps because it is so reminiscent of a home-brewed one of a kind.
The service was super good and they would really like to assist you with the menu if there is anything you are in doubt about.
We were glad we got a visit here - because it was a bit wild - a real color explosion!

Really enjoyed the branding and novelty of brightly coloured food (to look at), attention to detail was great. We had the loaded fries, burgers and shrimp. The fries were very tasty, shrimp were great for texture and the burgers were standard in taste (the vegan burger game is super high now and this place didn’t cut it for flavour). I’d order again but just get some different finger foods and fries, the burgers weren’t worth the price.

I can only comment on their McCruelty Free burger and kombucha as that's all I had. It was quite pricey in my opinion but that's to be expected in Amsterdam. The burger was good, and I took one to go as well but that one ended up tasting bitter when eaten later. The kombucha was very nice. It's a very cute concept and an experience but perhaps due to the nature of the food it's not a place I would frequent, leaves you feeling unwell as it is junk food.
