We went there for a super late lunch and it was not very busy. The waitress were very helpful answering our doubts.

My friend got the burger which was very good according to her and I got the loaded fries.
The atmosphere of the place was also very nice and the location convenient for us.
I think the offer average prices and, in my opinion, it is worth trying!

I had the Flashy Zeafood and was a bit disappointed with what I received. They served a bunch of fries, 2 deep fried "shrimps" and 3 deep fried "calamari". With Zeafood in the name, I didn't expect it to be mainly fries. The food was tasty, I especially liked the sauce they served with it.

The "Vegan Junk Food Bar" is famous in Amsterdam. The concept is in fact so popular, that it grew from just 1 to 7 restaurants in record time. This is because the Vegan Junk Food Bar is not about health, but about easy palatable food and traditional Dutch snacks. The Vegan Junk Food Bar so is popular that even at lunch time on an off season, rainy Tuesday is was packed.
Read moreWe wanted to try a bit of everything, so we ordered a "Flamboyant Shrimpz Caesar" salad, a "Mc Kroquet" hamburger and a serving of so-called "Betterballs". The salad was crunchy and tasty, with enough dressing to make it tasty. Yet not so much that it gets oily or fat. The same goes for the burger: the patty was tasty and rich, yet nothing was too oily or overwhelming.
The "Betterballs" are a play on words on Dutch "Bitterballen". The original consists of slaughterhouse waste (animal parts no one wants to buy) ground to a pulp and seasoned to taste. We ordered the vegetable version of this and it offers exactly the same "mush" in a crunchy ball shape as the original. Even the spices are exactly the same, so one could easily fool a meat eater with this.
And that's the whole ideal behind the Vegan Junk Food Bar: all the instant gratification and strong taste of junk food, but in a vegan version. Even the nutritional value is the same: an hour later I felt like eating again!
Pros: easy, palatable food, cheap, great place to fool/convert meat eaters
Cons: no Dutch is spoken. Menu and service in English, felt hungry an hour later, very busy place

Update: Had to remove one star because sadly last time we went there we were completely ignored for about 10 minutes and then left. The same had happened to another couple who left a bit before us.
Read moreIf you want good vegan junk food and friendly service in De Pijp this is one of the best choices.
Service is always attentive, and it's one of the cleanest places in Amsterdam. They were also the only ones who checked QR codes when it was mandatory. Makes me feel safe that they pay attention to other hygiene regulations as well.
However, I'm not happy they replaced the sweet potato fries with smiley fries.

Good option for trying vegan - Edit
We had the sumo plate to try as many things as possible. We were able to try the local bitterballen (called betterballen here) shrimp and calamari, the last two had a consistemcy so close to the real thing that it was nearly disturbing. We got an assortment of sauces, vibrantly coloured in the colours of the store, we didn't like the sauces as much, they were all on the sweeter side and the colour was confusing. The store is very vibrantly coloured and decorated, it's cute but it was a bit much for me.

I just got a drink and a couple of appetizers, so I can’t speak to the burgers. The food was good, but the portion sizes were a little underwhelming relative to the price. I also ate at their downtown location, which I thought had a better vibe and somewhat better service. Still no major complaints though and I would go again.
