Super expensive for what it is - Edit
We ordered a plate of "be better balls", a "mr. Chick burger" and a portion of fries.. Honestly for the price it is not really worth it! (ca. 40 euros with beverages). I give them 3 stars because their menu has some variety, but I wouldn't come back.

I went in feeling the style and design was not really me... but when the food came out all was forgiven. So good and tasty. Huge portions too. The staff were a but nonchalant even though it wasn't busy.

We came on Thursday night and had to wait a few minutes to get a table. Only outside and it was quite cold. So we decided to take the food home. The burgers were really good, the rainbow fries as well. But it’s really pricey!!

The classic shawarma was delicious, the filling tasted really similar to the non-plant-based version. Waffle fries and sweet potato fries are also great. Quick service too!

Read moreFood is always brought out quickly with a friendly smile. I really enjoy coming here. It’s always busy and in the summer it’s lovely to sit outside on the benches and watch the world in all of its vagaries talk, play and chill in the crescent shaped square (I know that makes no sense, but you’ll get it when you see it).
Anyway, food. Ok, I enjoy the Original burger which is really tasty and filling. If you get fries you will only need one to share, this is super filling grub. My favourite fries are the waffle style with Truffle mayonnaise.
The Daddy Mc Chik’n is also very tasty.
The pinky bratwurst xxxl is massive unless you are really hungry you won’t eat it all and definitely don’t order fries with it (the server’s usually advise you not to anyway)
VJFB platter is a bit lighter and a nice share especially with some fries, it’s a good introduction to what you could expect, taste wise, from the rest of the menu.
There are so many options you will be spoilt for choice, we have been many times and still only had half the menu (admittedly that’s because I enjoy the original burger so much).
They have 5 locations (4 in Amsterdam and one in Rotterdam), We have been to two of them, this one (also known as De Pijp branch) and ‘Downtown’ but De Pijp is sooooooo much nicer.
Pros: Super tasty and filling, Really friendly and efficient team, Chilled and very photogenic restaurant and food
Cons: A little pricey but then you are in Amsterdam

My partner and I were looking for a cruelty free dinner after a long day of work. We had the kapsalon and classic shawarma, both delicious, plus desert. We also added the sashimi which was Ana amazing surprise. We highly recommend it and we will be back!

We made a beeline for The Vegan Junk Food bar like every other vegan does when they visit Amsterdam and it certainly did not disappoint! I’m not usually one for junk food but this was outstanding. I had the shawarma burger and hubby had the original burger with fries....just amazing!!

First time here, and I had a very tasty Kapsalon. The portion size was very big and I’m not a small eater. It would be great to have the option for a normal sized portion with an adjusted (lower) price since everything is quite expensive. This would be a great way to not only have me come back, but more importantly to battle food waste and / or overeating.

The best place for vegan junk food in Amsterdam - Edit
We visited here for our third trip to the Netherlands, and yet again it didn't disappoint. Now don't get me wrong, I would suggest this is not the healthiest place, but I doubt anyone is going to a restaurant called the Vegan Junk Food Bar for health food.

It can be fairly busy, although this time we didn't need to wait at all, but the staff can be rushing about trying to keep up with everything. The fact that it's so busy though is a sign to how truly delicious this place is. I just wish that they would open some branches in the UK!

Let me start by saying that I really like the atmosphere of this place and their success in helping debunk the myth that vegan food only consists of salads. That being said, I think the actual food leaves a lot to be desired.
Read moreI ordered the shawarma dish and 80 % of it was fake shawarma meat - way too much. It basically felt like I was just eating fake shawarma meat for the whole meal. It didn't help that the portion was HUGE - way too big in my opinion. Then again, junk food is literally in the name of the restaurant and it absolutely felt very much like junk food, so I have to give them some credit for that. I do believe, however, that the portions could be a bit smaller and the meals a bit better and it could still qualify as junk food.
Food was 2/5 but for the whole experience I give it a weak 3/5.

I have been to the VJB in Rotterdam a few times. Love the concept, they serve great food. It was a bit annoying that the front door doesn’t close automatically so half of the time I was bothered by a cold draft coming in because people don’t close the door. Also at some point the volume of the music was pumped up so we practically had to yell to understand each other.

Definitely worth a visit - Edit
I went here on a Sunday noon. It was crowded but we were immediately seated. I had the basic burger (Mc Cruelty Free) and everything about it was amazing. The bitterballen are good as well and service was quick. The food is on the pricey side but it's definitely a place worth going to when you're visiting Amsterdam.

I wanted to eat here with soms friends. There was plenty of space, but they said there was none and that we had to wait for 3 hours. I responded there was enough place to sit but he said there was only space if we waited 3 or more hours. Bullshit ofcourse. It was just sad bullying behaviour.

When we arrive we had to wait like 30 minutes outside because all tables were taken, which was totally fine but... When there were finally some tables free, the staff asked the two girls that arrived AFTER us first, to come inside and take a seat. After they got a seat, we had to wait a few minutes more and when the staff showed us where to sit... it was a table for two (for the three of us), I was confused and annoyed because it was the exact same table as the girls that arrived after us (that doesn't make any sense). All people that were there with more than two people got an extra table... except for us. But ok... after we ordered everything, we had to wait like ... 20-30 minutes before we got the unicorn bread (something simple, that doesn't need to take that long), after we finished that, the waitress came with fries that were meant for our neighbours (We ordered sweet potato fries). It took also a while before we got the sweet potato fries, which you think should arrive with everything else but no they serve everything apart... Then my sister got her burger and me and my other sister nothing... so one of my sisters said to the waitress "we want to eat together, where is their food?". So after a while my salad came... the waitress said "everything ok now, right?" While my other sister didn't got her burger. So she said that she ordered the same burger. The waitress came back with her burger and everything was correct and complete now. Then another waitress came with the same burger and asked who ordered that burger... well no one. She walks to her colleague and back to us and says "My colleague says one of you ordered this burger", we were like "no we asked where our food was." So she left. We were so annoyed by everything that we didn't want dessert. I wouldn't go to this restaurant again, maybe I will only try another location later. The only thing I liked about this restaurant was the food.
