Vegan high tea

I would give this place 5 stars if I could. This is my favorite tea place I have ever been to. I have had high tea in California and in England as well at different places and the Shelbourne stands out.
When you make a reservation at least 24 hours out you can request a vegan option in the reservation notes.
The tea is presented beautifully on Shelbourne china and comes with just as many goodies as the non-vegans get.
There is an extensive menu of different tea flavors you can pick from. I decided to get the Shelbourne blend and then try a few cups of other stuff like the Sencha and the mango tea.
Of course they steep everything to perfection. It is never overly bitter or watered down.
They bring out a plate of jams and margarine for the vegan options and then a tower of plates covered in vegan options.
I started at the bottom with the scones and the banana bread. They were warm and sweet! It was delicious and I kept using the blackcurrant jam on everything. Absolutely delicious.
The next tier was the sandwiches. The vegan versions are slices of bread with vegan spreads on top of them. They had avocado spread, hummus, beetroot, and another one I forgot what it was. They are savory, light, fresh, and delicious. You also have the option to order as many of those as you want and you can get specific ones if you have a favorite.
After that there are two dessert tiers. There was a mango tart that was my favorite! It was so flavorful and fresh. I love the agaar mango jellies on top. It was the perfect level of sweet and fresh. Next to that was a chocolate mousse square and it was very rich and I was glad it was small. Definitely a dream for chocolate lovers. On the top tier was a strawberry shortcake dessert that had gold leafing. That one was my least favorite of the desserts. The strawberries were fresh, but the shortcake part was a bit grainy. The flavor was fantastic, but the texture was a bit off. The last dessert I tried was the pecan pie. It wasn't like an American pecan pie, but it was wonderful. It had a creamy frosting and the pecans must have been sugar coated. If you have a sweet tooth this is an absolute dream.
I Love that you have the option of getting a whole pot or trying one cup at a time. It makes it easy to try multiple tea flavors or get your favorite.
I highly recommend coming here and getting vegan tea. It's the best version of high tea I have ever had.

Pros: Lots of food, Vegan substitutes for cream and butter, Delicious!

Cons: Lots of sweet options, but few savory options

A Special Afternoon Tea Experience

If you're looking for a special way to savor a couple of hours, The Lord Mayor's Lounge at The Shelbourne hotel has a vegan Afternoon Tea service. We've done the tea a couple of different times (in 2018 and a few months ago), and they've consistently done an excellent job with the vegan options. It's not just an afterthought. They have different vegan pastries, soups, small sandwiches and more. The tea menu is also strong, and you can try as many teas as you like. Of course, it's pretty expensive, and you need to book in advance, but if you're looking for something special, this is a good option.

Pros: All-vegan menu, Great teas

Cons: Expensive, Must book in advance

Afternoon Tea

Went for afternoon tea for my wife's birthday. Let them know in advance and they did a vegan version of the entire stack. Haven't been for afternoon tea before but they were very attentive and explained what each item was and that it was vegan. The milk, butter etc was all non dairy.
