The (Lime) Tree of Life

Being of a delicate disposition, thanks in no small part to an extraordinary brunch the night prior, I was in desperate need of wholesome nourishment, caffeine, and - of course - cake. Being a huge fan of this exquisite, small chain of cafes, I knew full-well that if I just could muster up the will to haul the decrepit husk of a person that I was to the venue, all would be well.
Mercifully, the restorative effect of entering was almost instantaneous - the calm, comfortable interior, the pleasant staff and the sight of pastries all served to make me feel at least half-human.
Like beacons in the mist, the Nourish Bowl and the Rejuvenating Booster were two items that immediately stood out to me as sensible options given my fragility. Though, as they were to prove, they weren’t merely medicinal must-haves to be endured, they were tasty delights to be savoured. The bowl was packed with freshness, bright flavours, and a great balance of textures, while the tonic was surprisingly luxurious and it too boasted marvellous depth to it in terms of taste.
Feeling as though I had now laid the salutary groundwork, it was time to undo it all with coffee and sugar. The iced oat latte was the perfect lead into an exceptional pair of baked treats. The spiced apple cake was laden with satisfyingly crunchy crumble, and the moist carrot cake was only further enhanced by the smooth, creamy frosting sandwiched within and adorning its crown. So good were these confectionery creations that I couldn’t resist acquiring another as I prepared to leave. Undoubtedly the best of the three, the sticky date cake was absolutely divine, especially after a mid-morning nap.
There was never any suspicion wouldn’t adore this place, and I will be a loyal patron for the foreseeable future, of that I am sure.
