Great food with a great mission - Edit
We were so excited to eat at Strecha tonight. The restaurant is large and bright. When we first entered we thought it was small, but the restaurant is in the shape of an L and has about three separate seating areas on the long arm. We sat in the very end room which had a couch with a low table and a chess set and a monopoly game. Our servers were very nice and spoke to us in English.
Read moreWe ordered the dumplings on red cabbage and the fried cheese with fries. It was great to get to try some traditional Czech dishes veganized. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - we sadly weren't able to finish our meals because we ran out of room.
We were happy to purchase a pending meal for someone in need.

Tasty food - Edit
I had the feeling this was some quite traditionelle cooking. We liked it. Friendly staff, but they where not able to change the menu to accomodate a soy allergy. They still had some soy free dishes on the menu, but would have been great to combine different parts into a personal dish. However we where full when we left. Out pocket where also a bit lighter, i thought the prices where not cheap, but nothing seems to be anymore. We paid 42 for 2 half breadslices!

Cons: Icecream was not very sweet and bit melted, Staff removed the plates very fast, Higher prices than expected from level 1

Good Enough, avarage vegan food - Edit
The food I ordered included a starter with seitan and tofu, followed by a main dish made with soy and potatoes.
Read moreThe starter was avarage, but the main course wasn't as well-cooked or as flavorful as I had expected. It tasted fairly average. Maybe my choice was not among the best options in the menu.
That said, I might come back and try some of their other dishes in the future. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff are polite and friendly.

We traveled late in the evening, arriving before 10 pm when the website said open until 11 pm. NO FOOD. The bar was open and we were told that they had no food all day. Some people were finishing food...Very strange.

Very nice Dinner! - Edit

It used to be better - Edit
Local vegan here, I've been to Střecha more than 10 times in the last 3 years.
Read moreIt's a pain to write this, because I love their social project, the staff has always been friendly and I want to support local vegan restaurants. But I must admit my recent visits were disappointing.
First the bryndzové halušky were really vapid last time I had them. (Now they're out of the menu entirely, likely due to no supply of sojakrém, fair enough)
The only meals I'd recommend are the ones with potato dumplings: výpečky or stuffed dumplings... these are fine, BUT! not when you visit the restaurant during the late hours(8:30-9 pm). I was served dried-out stale dumplings.
The very last disappointment was svíčková that I had today. Soy chunks were tasteless, as if you cooked the cheapest soy meat in water and added it without any seasoning to the sauce. The sauce was watery. No offense, but it tasted like when omnivore tries to cook plant-based for the first time and has no idea which plant-based ingredients are a good fit and which are not.
A lot of the high praise here seems to come from one-time visitors, but as a long-term customer, the food has felt bad, mediocre at best, lately.

The food was amazing! I had the cauliflower and my husband had the roasted soyrinds with potato dumplings, both were excellent. We also shared the cabbage pancakes as an appie and I 100% recommend! Love this spot and hope to come back again soon!

Lovely social enterprise - Edit
You can pay a meal forward, and their staff have lived experience of homelessness or time served in custodial settings. Great place to support in Prague 😊 The staff are so friendly, and the food was so beautiful! I would especially recommend the pickled tofu, which comes with bread. They also have alcohol free beer.

Awesome vegan czech cuisine! - Edit
Really cool spot, reservation only when we went but we had booked, seemed super busy too which is great to see! Food was delicious and surprisingly cheap. Great atmosphere & very lgbt friendly bathrooms, marked with what facilities they have (stalls or stalls & urinals) and both have pads and tampons available.

Disappointing - Edit
We ate here for our first anniversary based on reviews and we’re disappointed. Service was awful, we ran out of drinks, finished our main and waited a long time trying to get someone’s attention but ended up paying at the door and leaving with our plates never cleared. I would have loved more drinks and dessert. The food we did have was ok, our first time trying Czech food so maybe just not to our liking. I loved the mission of this place but it still has to offer customers a good time and it did not do that for us.
