Great food with a great mission

We were so excited to eat at Strecha tonight. The restaurant is large and bright. When we first entered we thought it was small, but the restaurant is in the shape of an L and has about three separate seating areas on the long arm. We sat in the very end room which had a couch with a low table and a chess set and a monopoly game. Our servers were very nice and spoke to us in English.
We ordered the dumplings on red cabbage and the fried cheese with fries. It was great to get to try some traditional Czech dishes veganized. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - we sadly weren't able to finish our meals because we ran out of room.
We were happy to purchase a pending meal for someone in need.

5 stars is not enough

Amazing food. Vegan takes on classic Czech cuisine well done.

I went with the stuffed dumplings on red cabbage. Tasty filling and fairly healthy with lots of veggies.

It is a cooperative. Awesome work they do empowering former homeless to get work.

Friendly service.

I will be back!

Ugly space, mid food

The space is hideous, the food was okay at best. The only positive thing was the lovely stuff. Wont visit again.

Don’t get the hype

Starting on a positive I cannot fault the staff, they were all super lovely and welcoming. Onto the food, they were out of the schnitzel and dumplings which was a shame but can’t be helped. So we opted for the garlic soup, pickled tofu, kebab plate and the halusky. The tofu was nice, however the garlic soup and the halusky had zero flavour, when adding salt and pepper that’s all you could taste, it was also quite a greasy dish. The kebab texture of the meat wasn’t the best and the flavours were a bit off. Real shame as after reading the reviews I was super excited but wouldn’t return based on the food and the price.

Great Place

Visited Prague on a rainy weekend and walked forever just to get to this place and it was worth it. Incredibly cozy atmosphere and a great selection of foods and drinks. I ordered the pickled tofu and the Kebab plate, both of which were really good. Portion size was also great and the service was really nice. If I could wish for one thing it would be some kind of sweet dessert on the menu.

Definitely come here!!!

A great restaurant with so many options, it's great being able to try traditional/local food on holiday as a vegan and this place definitely delivered! Shared the goulash and the schnitzel with potato salad, both were delicious. Friendly restaurant and good place to support as it employs people who have been/are homeless.

Czech cuizine veganized. High hopes. Mixed bag.

Visited May 8th, 2025. Found it on Google Maps/Happy Cow.

Since being a child, I've always loved the czech fried cheese with fries and tartar sauce.
Now being vegan, of course I take every chance I get to try a vegan fried cheese! And in what better place than here, serving traditional czech food transformed into vegan awesomeness.
But wanting to spice things up a bit, I asked if I could have the cheese with a potato salad instead of fries (yes, I know, I know, I'm that guy - but it was on the menu!), but that was a hard pass.

What about the friggen cheese then? Well, it tasted a lot like Violife block,
which I'm -personally- not very fond of.
I also ordered the garlic soup, which -strangely- had no trace of garlic whatsoever.

Pivo of the occasion was a 300 ml (60 czk) "Chříč 13 IPA" - which from investigating a bit on Untappd, seemingly is the IPA (5.5%) called "Vinnetou" from the brewery Chříč.
A tad bit bitter, but went well with the food.

If I come back some day, which I'm still happy to (bad luck with the cheese I don't really like, but also the garlic free garlic soup!) - I'd go for something like the Budvar goulash, the kebab or the no-duck dish and see what it's like.

Kudos however for well, obviously for being 100% vegan, but also for doing humanitarian work for homeless people and having the option of paying for someone else's lunch.

Dished I had:
Rostlinný smažák s hranolkami (Fried vgn cheese w/fries) - 240 czk
Česnečka s krutony (Garlic soup w/croutons) - 80 czk

Pros: Czech cuisine veganized, Doing humanitarian things, Affordable

Cons: Garlic soup didn't taste any garlic

A wonderful place with an even better mission

A wonderful place with an even better mission.

I never thought I’d be able to try Czech food in my life, but here we are. Amazing!

The dumplings over cabbage were great as well as the soy sirloin.

The pate and tofu spread were truly delicious, the bread here alone is over the top.

The service staff were friendly and there’s ample seating.

Pros: Friendly staff, Ample seating

Amazing

Dumplings on red cabbage (250Kč) / Fried vgn cheese w/ fries (240Kč) / Schnitzels w/ potato salad (220Kč) / Chilli burger w/ fries (275Kč) / Budvar goulash (210Kč) / Wrap w/ kebap (195Kč) / Fries w/ dip trio (145Kč) / Choco Banana Cake (75Kč)

Veganized Czech Cuisine

The service was good and so was the food! Definitely make a reservation. For starters my husband had garlic soup with croutons and the no-egg tofu spread which really did taste like egg! I had the vegan pate which was nice (but wish there were more cranberries). For mains my husband had the budvar goulash which he really enjoyed. I had the soy sirloin in creamy vegetable sauce which was delicious. However, I wish there would have been more sirloin and less bread dumplings. For dessert we took away a brownie, raspberry cheesecake, and slice of banana bread. The brownie and banana bread were great, but the cheesecake was not as sweet or thick as I would have preferred. It seemed all the sweetness came from the raspberry topping.

Pros: Vegan Czech cusine, Yummy food, Good service

Cons: Raspberry cheesecake wasn’t great, A lot of bread rather than the “main”

Best vegan Place I’ve ever been to

Very kind staff, super tasty food and it’s cheap as well. We are so used to sometimes paying double of what you would pay in a non-vegan restaurant but at this place you can eat whatever you want, no matter what your budget is. They also offer a “buy a meal for a stranger” item where you can pay for a meal for a homeless person.
Went there with my girlfriend, both of us had Appetizers and a Main Course as well as 2 Drinks and even with a 15% Tip I just paid 35€.
We went there again the next day because it was so good.

Pros: Lovely Staff, Tasty Food, Budget friendly

Bad service bad food

I went during dinner time and the service was appalling, instead of seating us and taking our order the staff were chatting. Even after I went up to ask them to take our order it still took an extra 5 minutes. It wasn’t particularly busy either. The food was also just bad other then the starters we had. It was bland and the textures were off. The duck dumplings were stodgy and quite hard. The ribs were this bland loaf of dough I don’t even know why it was called ribs.
