Great food with a great mission - Edit
We were so excited to eat at Strecha tonight. The restaurant is large and bright. When we first entered we thought it was small, but the restaurant is in the shape of an L and has about three separate seating areas on the long arm. We sat in the very end room which had a couch with a low table and a chess set and a monopoly game. Our servers were very nice and spoke to us in English.
Read moreWe ordered the dumplings on red cabbage and the fried cheese with fries. It was great to get to try some traditional Czech dishes veganized. The food was delicious and the portions were generous - we sadly weren't able to finish our meals because we ran out of room.
We were happy to purchase a pending meal for someone in need.

Not good really - Edit
I am not hater, and I usually give good reviews, but this food was just not good. We had dumplings with cabbage, and duck with cabbage... Only eatable things were cabbage... Dumplings were extra hard and dry with not good tasting inside... Also, duck was dry, tasting badly...garlic soup also substandard... Forever me, this place was disappointment

Great place! - Edit
Stretcha is a beautiful restaurant in the centre of Prague serving traditional Czech dishes vegan. The staff are people either recently released from prison or homeless and experiencing hardship. The food and the vibe are excellent. Great options, draft beers, and dessert selections

Super Konzept und fantastisches Essen! - Edit

We ate there twice and tried different meals. Their dishes vary from modern interpretations of bohemian and traditional meals. Our favourite were the filled dumplings on red cabbage.

Didn’t get to try the food :-( - Edit
I gave 3 stars only because, as a vegan, I don’t want to damage a good reputation of a vegan restaurant over what I hope was just one bad evening. I do, however, hope someone from the restaurant will read this.
Read moreUnfortunately, we never got to try the food. After being seated and given menus, we waited more than 30 minutes without service. The restaurant was busy but the staff didn’t appear overwhelmed, and despite several attempts to signal them, they avoided eye contact and continued talking among themselves. Even if they were understaffed or under pressure, a simple explanation, an apology, or at least a glass of water would have made a big difference.
When we saw guests who arrived after us already being served, we decided to leave. It’s a shame, because the restaurant has a good reputation, but our experience didn’t match it. I hope other guests had a better evening.
Pros: Live music, Nice design
Cons: Service

Wasn't For Me - Edit
I'm not sure if it's a reflection of the restaurant, or of traditional Czech food in general...but I really didn't enjoy eating here. Staff was incredibly nice, and I loved the inside of the place, but I couldn't finish my food. The stuff in the jar I couldn't even eat. The Svickov was okay, but a major downgrade from the Svickov I had at Vegan's Prague. Even the tea was burned and bitter. I don't understand the hype, but maybe I got unlucky.

There is more to this place than just food though to be fair! They employ people who experienced homelessness or served a sentence, while helping them with debt, housing food and a bunch of other problems, so sometimes food isn't the best :)

Great food, great mind set - Edit
I was so happy to be able to try real vegan Czech cuisine. Food was very good, large portions. it was quite busy (recommend to make a reservation upfront) and service was very quick. A real nice touch: pay for lunch for someone else, definitely a place with great food and karma points 🙏

Teils Top / Teils Flop - Edit

Great food and even better non alcoholic drinks!? - Edit
I think all the other food reviews speak for themselves. This is the place to get veganized Czech food. So I would like to highlight the great selection of alcohol free wine and cocktails.

My girlfriend ordered an alcohol free whiskey sour which did taste surprisingly well and like the real deal. They offer all the classic cocktails as alcohol free versions (Gin Tonic etc.)

Střecha is the place to go to, if you want to experience traditional czech cuisine that normally heavily relies on animal products.
Read moreThe Schnitzel with potatoe salad tastes or the Svíčková were just like my grandma used to make and the filled dumplings (Knedlíky) are wonderful as well!
The prices are very reasonable and the staff is friendly. Go get yourself a glass of Kofola and enjoy what this wonderful restaurant has to offer!
