This is vegan?? - Edit
*EVERYTHING* here is good *AND* cruelty free. And I've tried pretty much everything.
Read moreEvery pita sandwich here is delicious!
Recommended:
Shouk burger: savory and hearty
Shwarma: ok, it's not mock shwarma meat but those are some delicious mushrooms with the right texture.
Falafel: Middle-easterners know their falafel. This isn't Cava; that's some bland falafel. This falafel has flavor!
Get the pickled onions. Just do it.

Delicious - Edit
Never tried Israeli food before but I was enticed. I got the falafel with an extra side of garlic tahini, my fiancé got the fried oyster mushroom sandwich, and we got a side of fries with Shouk sauce. The food was incredible; some of the best I’ve ever had.

Great casual restaurant - Edit
I don't think I'd ever had this type of cuisine before and the spices caught me off guard in terms of their flavour, but it was a good experience. The interiors are cool too!

Great Mediterranean Vegan! - Edit
Very small restaurant with quick service and fantastic vegan options! You can order online and through a kiosk, and even in a busy lunch hour, food was put together quick. Great quality of food and different choices of different spicy tahini and vegan mayo options!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - Edit
I unfortunately didn't take any pictures cause I was too hungry and excited. It was really delicious. I feel like it's hard to find good vegan food in the states but this is an absolute gem. Made my heart happy. My non vegan partner also loved it.

Nice spot - Edit
Had the bean burger and falafel Pita with fries. Would eat there again. Not sure why food is boxed up if eating there. Ice Tea was bland.

Best Israeli-style Street food in DMV - Edit
We had the oyster mushroom shawarma, falafel and shouk nuggets. The food was delicious and the portions (packed into fluffy pitas) were generous. Lots of side toppings and sauces to choose from. Watch out for the green one-it's very spicy. We were going to take pictures to post, but we ate it all...
Read moreIn terms of authenticity, Shouk's food comes closest to the falafel/shawarma street vendors in Israel serve.
Nov. '23 update: Every bit as good on our most recent visit. We recommend the Shouk'n (oyster mushroom "fried chicken") with spicy shug sauce on the side, plus a side of extra crispy fries with harissa mayo dip.

Pros: Authentic street food, Generous portions, Friendly staff
Cons: Few dessert options

Great fast food option, shouk burger! - Edit
The shouk burger is definitely worth coming back for. It was so great, and the prices are pretty reasonable here. I would love to someday see Shouk come to the West Coast. I didn't realize when you pay extra for a sauce on the burger that it isn't actually added onto the burger, so I accidentally ate it without the sauce. Oops. It's still really good, though!
Read moreThe spice fries "tossed in super secret shouk spice" didn't taste any different than other seasoned fries, so in the future, I'm going to stick with hummus or lentil soup as the side dishes. The featured photos of their fries on HappyCow and Google Maps are outdated. The fries no longer look like that.
The malabi coconut milk pudding was wonderful, and the mint went very well with the raspberry.

Reliably great falafel - Edit
I always order the falafel pita and can’t seem to get myself to try anything else. It’s always fresh and the spiced fries are perfect.

The best I’ve had yet in DC - Edit
Self ordering was kind of surprising but very efficient. Super friendly people regardless. I had the 2 Way Eggplant Bowl. Eggplant seared on a hot grill, creamy baba ganoush, almond feta, smashing potatoes, pomegranate-infused tomatoes, black lentils, quinoa, greens.

Heerlijke kruidige shoarma - Edit
Echt heeeeeel erg lekker!

We loved the food - fried shouk’n pita and shwarma pita. Both oyster mushrooms but the second was grilled rather than fried. We asked for our tahini on the side so we could add it as we went. Would definitely come back again.

Absolutely Delicious! What a treat! - Edit
I ate at the 655 K St. NW, Washington, DC location which is 5 minutes from the Mt Vernon Sq 7th St-Convention Center Metro. I had the Shawarma bowl with half rice/ half greens and schug sauce, green spicy hummus with cucumber slices, Malabi pudding dessert, and a taste of my son's spice fries. What unbelievable flavor! I bought extra Malabi desserts to take home to my friends and family; it was that good. I wish there was a Shouk restaurant in northern central Jersey.
