Vegan heaven in Exeter

Highly recommended for freshly prepared, inventive, vegan brunches and lunches. The vegan 'eggs' are amazing. Friendly staff, great food, they cater excellently for gluten free diets too. Gluten free savoury waffles are legendary. Love this place.

One for the list

Not masses to choose from but nice, well presented & aesthetically pleasing dishes that even satisfied my non vegan parents. A spot that any vegan should check out!

Awesome

El personal es súper amable… está ubicado como en un centro comercial con tiendas muy cuquis. La comida está riquísima. He ido dos veces en mi estancia en Exeter y aunque la tostada Benedict está riquísima, me encantó la sopa también!

Perfect breakfast

The breakfast here is perfect, filling but not heavy and greasy which made me feel good. The attention to detail was great and everything was flavoured really well. I enjoyed the vegan poached egg. The cafe is also really cute looking with lots of house plants😄

Pros: Tastes great, Cute looking cafe, Staff were lovely

Meticulous attention to serving delicious and attractive vegan food.

The venue was very pleasant with spacious tables outside the main restaurant. Everything we tried was excellent including the vegan egg benedict, the savoury waffles, chai latte and "cheery cherry" smoothie.
The couple who run the restaurant were welcoming and clearly very committed to providing an outstanding and deeply ethical service. I particularly enjoyed their description of the time that went in to creating the vegan egg benedict.
The price was perfectly reasonable for an excellent and enjoyable meal with generous portions.

Best vegan café ever

The waffles here are amazing, the alternative latte drinks are the best I have had (especially the beetroot and orange!). It’s a place you can come back to all the time, and the food makes you feel good.

Pros: Every single option is delicious, Non gluten options, Lovely staff

Good atmosphere, beautiful presentation, ok flavours

I had the eggs benedict and a sea salt chocolate chip cookie. The atmosphere in there was great and I got a decent amount of admin work done while there but I found the benedict to be lacking in flavour, though I seem to be the odd one out.

Gorgeous, inventive, fresh, filling

Amazing brunch, breakfast, lunch and more at sacred grounds. The menu changes regularly and is always delicious. Savoury waffles sounded strange to me at first but were amazing, the sweet are also mouthwatering and showcase fresh produce wonderfully. The smorbrod toppings combine complex and interesting flavour combinations with beautiful bread. The coffee is great, the chai is fabulous and the mango lassi is lusciously fruity. The portions are generous and so filling, you will leave here satisfied for the day. Next time I go back I will be trying the Reuben sandwich - hope I make it before the menu changes again!!

Edited to add: I have been here many times now and my favourite menu addition is the sacred Benedict - a breakfast of wonders and highly recommended!

An absolute 💎 in the heart of Exeter

You’ll find Sacred Grounds just outside of the high street (walking distance) hidden in McCoys arcade amongst an abundance of plants 🪴 There’s plentiful of seating but it can get busy on the weekends so try to get there early!

The menu is 100% vegan, I’ve tried the waffles, Benedict and sandwiches (multiple times) and can wholeheartedly recommend them all. The savoury waffles are always a winner, so if you can only choose one, that’s the one to go for!

For drinks, their beetroot latte is the most wholesome accompaniment to a Sunday brunch.

If you do one thing in Exeter, visit here. You’ll also be charmed by the close independent shops in the area including Sanchos (ethical fashion) and a zero-waste shop!

Pros: Phenomenal food at a very reasonable price, Very well located for the eco-minded, The decor and ethos is just so wholesome

Cons: Can get busy on the weekends

Food with a flair!

A most enjoyable lunch with good service. The food was outstanding although the temperature was rather too cold for us to sit outside, we managed to secure a table inside. Definitely a “must visit”!

Great food and presentation

We stopped off in Exeter and popped into Sacred Grounds after seeing the reviews. We were not disappointed! We had the Sacred Benedict and Savoury waffle. The waffle was our favourite, the menu maybe small, but the food is excellent in both flavour and presentation. They lose 1 star due to front of house staff. The table we sat on had very clear water residue from the previous patrons drinks, and some food remnants. The waitress did not offer or attempt to clean the table, and instead placed our cutlery and napkins right next to the wet area.

Pros: Excellent presentation, Delicious flavours

Cons: Lack of care by front of house

Can't believe I haven't been there before

The 'egg' benedict and aubergine bacon was divine. No Idea how they made it, and that's rare for me since i love cooking. My friend loved her smoky beans and tofu with avocado too. Definitely going back
