A *MUST* Visit when in Exeter - Edit
What a splendid cafe! I visited a few years ago and then forgot it was here... more fool me.
Read moreTheir comprehensive all vegan menu contains a delicious range of dishes. I opted for the breakfast sandwich and my wife had the Sacred Benedict. They were both amazingly tasty, filling, and the poached 'egg' was just incredible.
The staff were attentive and friendly, and there is a good range of deserts. Even the tea is top notch and photogenic ;-)
As I said in the title of this review, if you're anywhere near Exeter, Sacred Grounds is a must.
Pros: Everything

Lovely little cafe - Edit
We visited whilst in Exeter based on reviews on Happy Cow. All the staff were very friendly and helpful even though they were very busy. They also catered for some additional dietary needs I have and checked the ingredients of the meal for me. The food was delicious and filling, we had a toasted breakfast sandwich (I can't remember it's proper name) and latte. I was too busy eating to get any photos but the food was nicely presented. I will definitely return if I'm in Exeter again and would highly recommend them.

A real gem - Edit
We came to Exeter for the day and had lunch at Sacred Grounds. What a treat, I had the breakfast on gluten free waffles, with their famous egg, my husband had the breakfast sandwich. Delicious, best meal out we have had in a long time. Shame we live so far away, or we would pop in all the time.

Fantastic brunch - Edit
I was sceptical, but the eggs Benedict was fantastic! The "yolk" was very cool and the sauce lovely. I don't think the eggplant bacon is going to fool anyone... But paired nicely with the dish. It was also great to try a vegan Jaffa cake. It's not a huge space inside but they have a lot of tables in the mall area outside.

Understandably Popular!! - Edit
We loved everything here, the staff, the space, the open kitchen, the vegan poached egg was amazing and the smoked aubergine melted in the mouth. The green tea was as I like it. They buy it from a tea shop just down the alley , So they also support local businesses (that was my next stop). Also they had a nice range of ceramic mugs which added to the bill. A perfect time was spent here. 🙏🏼

Just amazing breakfast and brunch options (the eggs of course being the highlight), vegan milky drinks, cakes. Lovely setting with some semi-outdoor seating in the bright arcade.

Unbelievably good - Edit
So good that I had to come back the next day and try even more on their extensive menu. Other reviewers mention the “poached egg” so I had to try it. It’s really eggy but without the unpleasant aftertaste (and the cruelty). Everything I had was delicious, the service is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and it’s in a great location at the end of McCoys arcade in Fore St.

Delicious vegan brunch venue - Edit
Really enjoyed our visit to the cafe today. Friendly staff and delicious food. I enjoyed the ‘eggs’ Benedict and my partner had the breakfast bun. A lovely array of cakes available too (had some for takeout - the filled croissant was just gorgeous). Really enjoyed the smoothie also.

Very friendly and cosy atmosphere. Had a delicious vegan brunch of sourdough, aubergine, tomatoes, spinach, avocado, smokey beans and poached ‘egg’. 100% recommend and will be back next time I’m in Exeter.

Unique and we'll done vegan food! - Edit
Have been a couple of times, always loved the brunch style food - reminds me of Aussie vegan cafes that do really high quality meals. The savoury pancakes were delicious, my partner tried their famous poached egg and thought it was great! Also great coffee which can be hard to find in UK!

I wanted to like this so much - Edit
My mum and I visited today and she had the bfast bun and I had the eggs Benedict. The vegan poached egg was perfect. My mum's bun was delicious. However with my eggs Benedict the egg was the only saving grace. My sourdough toast was over toasted and tasted like it had been sat out for a while after that and it was chewy. My aubergine bakon was raw and rather disappointing. I genuinely don't think it was cooked 😕. For nearly £15 it hardly seemed worth it.

Came to Exeter just for this 😻 - Edit
I came here purely for the novelty of a vegan poached egg, and went away amazed by how good absolutely everything on the menu was (including the egg).
Read moreIt all sounded appealing and I ended up getting the savoury waffles with a poached egg. The egg not only looked realistic, but tasted eggy too. It was all really well presented and fairly cheap price for what it was.
We literally traveled an hour into Exeter just to try this place and I can say I would definitely do it again.
