Ottime opzioni per vegani - Edit
Che dire? Buonissimo! Vegan option wins! ☺️

Vegan Roman cuisine! - Edit
As a Roman born and bred, I have always suffered from the lack of vegan options when it came to traditional recipes like cacio e pepe or amatriciana pasta, suppli, and so on.
Read moreThankfully, il Rifugio Romano came to the rescue!
We were four people, so we got the chance to try out quite a few dishes, and none of them disappointed us. As starters we had zoccolette (fried pizza dough balls) with tomato sauce and vegan parmesan, fried olive ascolane, and supplì, all of them very tasty and perfectly fried - not too heavy, not too oily, just 10/10.
Then, I got a really amazing calzone with "cheese" and mushrooms which I wished would never finish, my dad an incredible cacio e pepe pasta (which is the best pasta ever created, a very simple but delicate sauce made of parmesan, pecorino and pepper, and to be finally able to eat it again almost made me cry haha), my mum a very balanced green salad with seitan stripes, and my friend a pasta with a zucchini and almonds cream which was not so interesting but still good.
To give us the last carbs blow, we got the gnocchetti of fried pizza dough again, this time dressed with vegan Nutella - just heavenly.
The service was really welcoming, nice and helpful even though we arrived very late and they were all clearly tired and still busy. They brought water for the dog without even being asked, and were attentive but not too much. We had a delightful evening, enjoyed every bite, drank good wine, sat outside in the warm Roman summer, and never felt rushed. Cannot wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!
(I want to add that the pricing is not at all expensive but perfectly average for Rome.)
Pros: Amazing vegan menu, Great hospitality, Terrace
Cons: Not all vegan (yet!)

Would give 5 stars for vegan options - Edit
There are pages of delicious vegan options here- loved being able to have the vegan version of so many Italian classics! I visited in September 2019 and, like others mentioned, it was always very busy, and for good reason. They do offer takeout if you don’t want to wait for a table & the staff is excellent.

Fabiola, daughter of the owner and wife of the vegan chef offers, besides the classic roman typical dishes, an entirely vegan menu of those typical roman dishes in a VEGAN version really similar to the original ones. Excellent quality as a results af study, and passion.

Great vegan dishes! - Edit
This place is always full so make sure you reserve a place first to avoid waiting.
Read moreMany vegan starters and main dishes to chose from, including fake meats (seitan). We went for lasagne and spaghetti carbanara and couldn't fault. Fresh, homemade spaghetti and the flavours were amazing. Each dish coat ten euros so doesn't break the bank, the prices I usually expect when in Italy. Everything I have been looking for for a vegan pasta alternative. Would highly recommend.

Amazing vegan options - Edit
Super nice food. They have a separate menu for vegan food. The vegan Carbonara was TO DIE FOR. Some of the best pasta I've had. The appetizers are really nice: be warned that the appetizers are big, so don't order too much food, you can always ask for more.
Read moreSuper friendly staff, and an amazing location.
Make a reservation in advance, and when ordering try to talk to whoever is taking your order and explain if you are vegan, vegetarian, in transition and your personal taste. I went solely by recommendations and it was amazing, a truly wonderful experience.
Great to bring your pesky "i don't eat vegan food" friend since he can order from the other menu and you don't have to go to a restaurant which has only one or two vegan options.
Pros: Food, Location, Friendly staff

Not great - Edit
I was so excited to visit this restaurant after reading reviews on here and looking at the website. The restaurant is very small and the tables are really packed in tight close to each other. The lighting is so bright and unrelaxing! There is so much choice on the menu for vegans and non vegans and hoped I’d be in for some really great food. To start we shared one of the vegan sharing platters and I did enjoy it. I next had one of the vegan pizzas which was ok but I’ve tasted many better vegan pizzas. My husband has a fish pasta dish which he didn’t think was great. Lacked any flavour. Service was acceptable. Great place if you like a bustling cafe vibe but I wouldn’t recommend if you want a cosy meal for 2. There are much better restaurants in Rome for vegan options.

3 great courses - Edit
We came here for our final meal before leaving the city. We started with a different arancini ball each, they were so so good and like 1.50!! Mine was super flavoursome. Then I had a pizza with tofu, fake ham, veggies etc which I really enjoyed. The cheese was tasteless which was a shame. My friend had a calzone which I don't think was as good, he said they either forgot the cheese or we stinging with how much they gave. For dessert, he had the pan cotta which he said was good and I had the vegan tiramisu which tbh was the reason I cam in the first place and I was not disappointed. It tasted real good and was the perfect size. I completely recommend going here and it's worth the slight trip out of the main city area!!

Tasty Vegan Options, 4 Pages - Edit
Vegan, 4 pages plus vegan versions of deserts. 26 seats inside. Close to Termini Station. Margarita pizza for 8euro was quite good, more than enough for one person, probably enough for teo to share. Vegan gnochi was "wonderful". Vegan 3 cheese ravioll, 3 large pieces. Meal was about 44 euros.

I am so glad I found this spot before it really blew up. The vegan pasta and lasagna are very delicious! Now I feel like they use a little less cheese as last time but I will make sure to ask for extra cheese next time. Because who doesn't love vegan cheese? Oh my, I still think about the fried pizza gnocchi balls and seitan lasagna mmm also their vegan desserts with vegan nutella is so good!

Excellent!! - Edit
This restaurant was incredible!! We shared 2 vegan bruschettas (the bruschetta al pomodoro and the bruschetta hummus e pachino), also had the spaghetti alla carbonara vegan and shared 4 scoops of gelato - we had the chocolate and pistacchio flavours. Everything was lovely, staff were really friendly too and we were given free limoncello with our bill! This menu is split 50/50 between vegan options and omni options and has vegan versions of most things on their original menu!

I am Italian and vegan - so trust me here. This place is heaven, there are uncountable deliciousnesses to choose from from appetizers to first courses and dessert, and everything is freaking delicious. Arancini was probably my favourite - couldn’t have told the difference from the ones my nonna used to make. Go eat there!!
