Good not Great - Edit
I liked the options, but based off of my experience with the vegan lasagna I hope the other dishes receive the same love and care I saw other dishes get at my table.

Absolutely Deeeelicious - Edit
We went back to this place three times because the food was so delicious. It blew away the other vegan restaurants we had flagged in rome, including Aromatica in Trastevere (very good but not great) and Ma Va near the Vatican (awful - really salty and bland, maybe a bad chef night). This place had very well organised maitre d. It’s a busy restaurant with queues whenever we went so that was important. He still took time to be friendly, accommodating and recognised us after our first visit. Other less busy places we went gave you that rushed feeling as if your custom was a hassle. We had 4 different dishes all up - ravioli, fava bean spaghettoni, carbonara, and ametriciana, all really super tasty. Focaccia to die for. We didn’t think we’d eat the whole basket when it came but we did! The mixed salad with avocado was one of best salads either of us had eaten. I was dying to try their tirsmisu after a really lack lustre gloopy version from Aromatica. Rifugio’s was divine. Firm consistency, soft well-soaked sponge and thick cream. I inhaled it every time. We were both so inspired by this place we want to try some of the dishes ourselves and see if we can get close to the flavours. I think the ametriciana will be difficult as the italian tomatoes are just so mouth wateringly bursting with luscious rich flavour. I’ll try by best though!
Read moreOh, great and wide choice of vegan wines too.
Recommended to book a day ahead (using their online form) as this place fills up fast. Our last night people were queuing for close to 2 hours to get a table, it’s that popular.
Pros: Food, Friendly efficient staff, Two hour slots
Cons: None

Rifugio Romano was a very good experience I can highly recommend! They have typical Italian food, everything as a vegan and non-vegan version. A lot of options, and everything we tried was delicious! The service was very good and friendly!
Read moreI recommend to make a reservation as it was very full and there was a line when we came.
Would definitely go there again!

Outstanding! - Edit
Impressively long vegan menu - and mostly delicious!
Read moreThe vegan cheese/meat board was fantastic (though could have benefited from some pickle or similar) and the arancini were incredible. The “seitan salad” was also great.
The only thing that was just “good” was the ravioli which was a bit bland.
Will definitely be going back!

A must visit in Rome! - Edit
Me & my partner went to this restaurant twice because we loved it that much. The first time round we both had one of the vegan bruschetta options for our starter which was really yummy & for main I had a calzone & my partner had a spicy pizza which were both really good & very filling! (although my calzone was quite salty). Second visit we both had a pizza which was amazing & we both had the vegan tiramisu which was incredible- the best dessert we have ever eaten!
Read moreYou do need to book this place in advance as it is only small & gets very busy!
We didn’t find this place anymore expensive than other restaurants in Rome.
Wish I could give 5 stars!

Amazing 🤩 - Edit
We loved this restaurant so much and will be definitely eating here again when we visit Rome this year. The vegan food menu is great with so many delicious Italian recipes. My only complaint is that the restaurant is quite small so there is not a lot of space between the tables, even outdoors. You also must book a table in advance especially if visiting during summer.

Amazing !! - Edit
Definitely the best place to eat in Rome. It has a lot of vegan options and everything was delicious. I had to come twice because it was just so yummy 😍 I haven't taken photos of the main meals the first time because I was so hungry and forgot 😂 (so just desserts!) But we got tortellini (so nice!) And pizza, super cheesy and delicious 🤤. Then we have a chocolate mousse&panna cotta. So so good 🙌
Read moreFor the second day we had a selection of vegan delicacies. It was amazing, very filling and yummy! Cheese was soo good👌🏻 For main courses we had pistachio spaghetti (if you're pistachio fan as I am you'll love it) and spaghetti carbonara (super recommend!). We didn't get desserts that time as we were super full 😂
I'll add all the food names in the photos !
Pros: Lots of options, even a lot of different pizzas!, Average prices and good location, Very friendly staff
Cons: The only bad thing is that it not 100% vegan 🫣😂

Worth a trip to Rome - Edit
Antipasti, primi, secondi were shockingly good - best Italian food we’ve had since we went vegan years ago. Haven’t tried the pizzas (yet) but EVERYTHING we tasted was exceptional. And the server (Valentino) simply made the visit. Small place, kinda noisy, on the street - and just right. What’s even more astounding is the fact that they serve meat and dairy dishes too - we’ve never seen a place that does “traditional” and yet clearly puts so much passion into creating this kind of vegan experience. Wish Happy Cow would let me give it 5 stars, because this place deserves it.

Great cosy corner of Rome where everyone is welcome - Edit
This restaurant was excellent. Nothing fancy just great vegan interpretations of Italian food: bruschetta, pasta, secondi and pizza. Great value wine list. Lovely service in a bustling fun atmosphere. Loving The Cure’s Disintegration playing front to back too. When in Rome go here.

Worth the walk - Edit
This restaurant had been recommended to me by 2 vegan friends so was definitely on my list of places to visit. It’s a fair walk from the centre of Rome but very close to the main railway station. We arrived shortly before they opened which was lucky as they managed to fit us in but we had a time limit on our table. I have a severe nut allergy which limited my options but the waiter helped me with my vegan choice saying “the most important thing is that you stay well & enjoy your meal”
Read morePros: Lots of vegan options, Staff very friendly and extremely helpful , Reasonably priced
Cons: Very popular so book a table, Majority of vegan options contain nuts

One of the best meals of my life! - Edit
I wish I could Rifugio Romano 5 stars, it truly deserves it. Everything about the restaurant was amazing. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the restaurant itself was super cute with a wonderful atmosphere. The food was incredible and so reasonably priced. I was shocked when we got the bill back at how little it all actually cost, the quality was so incredible. The traditional menu went down well with my non vegan companion, and I loved the variety of vegan options. I had bruschetta, a carbonara, pollo romano and tiramisu. I understand why people in previous reviews say that they went several times during their visits, there are so many options and I wish I had a chance to try more of the menu. This is undoubtedly my favourite restaurant in Rome, I highly recommend it!
