Great Italian spot - Edit
I’ve been here twice and was so excited to try their desserts both times, but by the time I sampled the appetizers and had my entree I was too full!! So I can’t speak to those, but the rest of the food is great. Love seeing vegan mozzarella sticks on a menu!!

Great pizzas and a lovely vibe inside. The gluten free base was nice but nothing amazing compared to other places. Make sure you book for quick service

Casual but felt like fine dining - Edit
Fine dining type service (and prices) but SO glad we went. The baked ricotta app and black magic lasagna will have me dreaming about them for a long time! Carbonara was excellent too.

Pura Vita will always have a special place in my heart. I was really upset to learn the Redondo Beach location has closed – that was my go-to spot whenever I was visiting friends in the South Bay. Growing up in an Italian family, my comfort foods have always been the classics: pizza, pastas with pesto or rich cream sauces, and anything with ricotta. It’s not easy to find vegan versions that actually hit those nostalgic notes, but Pura Vita pulled it off again and again.
Read moreTheir cashew ricotta was a total lifesaver for my Italian cravings – rich, creamy, and satisfying in a way most vegan ricottas just aren’t. I tried several different pastas and Neapolitan-style pizzas over my visits, and everything was phenomenal: hearty, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The whole experience of eating outside, enjoying good wine and beautiful vegan Italian food by the beach, felt really special every time.
I doubt I’ll make it to the West Hollywood location anytime soon, but I’m genuinely grateful I got to experience Pura Vita while they were at the beach. If you have a chance to visit one of their remaining locations and you miss “real” Italian comfort food, especially ricotta, creamy sauces, and proper pizza, don’t skip it.
Pros: cashew ricotta, cashew mozzarella
Cons: closed their redondo beach location

Peak Vegan Italian Eats - Edit
This is it vegan fam. We have found the best vegan Italian spot in the country. Countless cities and nearly 30 years vegan, this is hands down my top Italian spot ever. Forget the rest, you never went.
Read moreAfter a few hours at the LACM, I took myself on a solo date to Pura Vita after previously checking out the menu online and tagging in Happy Cow as a place to check out one day. Today was that day.
The menu is vast, for drink and food. The interior is mostly all black, but pretty cozy. Sit at the bar or at a table. Friends, family, small social gatherings, and especially date night, this place is 🔥.
Ordered a drink and after what felt like a lifetime of deliberation, I gave in to the calzone, of which I have not had since going vegan decades ago. The pastas and pizzas all looked wonderful as well as everything else on the menu, but I wanted something I don't make at home or can readily find at other venues. I asked how big it was, they said big, I said OK.
They weren't kidding, it comes served on a 12" pizza dish. This is the largest calzone I've ever seen.
The bread was exquisitely baked, very soft, but not raw with just the right amount of salt and olive oil. The filling was a plant-based cheese and packed with greens and veggie meat.
I got halfway through and though I was cooked; no way I can finish this thing. But like any good Italian would do, you soldier on because you know the next course is dessert, which no sane person would skip.
I made it to the end, voilà! Food coma ensue. Check please. But first, that dessert...
I got the seasonal apple cider zeppola with a side of caramel dipping sauce. To be honest it was good but not super good. First time eating zeppola in decades, so that was fun, but if I had to choose again, I'd get the tiramisu or affogato.
And there was a cute cat painting in the loo, so bonus points for that. 🇮🇹 🍝🍕🍷
Check this place out!

We came here for brunch, and parking was a bit tricky to find, but totally worth it. Everything was absolutely delicious! The breakfast calzone with potatoes and tofu was definitely the standout! Put this one on your list!

Where love and flavor meet in West Hollywood - Edit
Pura Vita has been one of my favorite vegan spots in Los Angeles since I first moved here. What started as a simple self-care dinner became a tradition — the kind of place that turns a meal into a memory. Every dish feels intentional, rich in flavor, and made with love. The energy inside is warm and inviting, and the staff always make you feel like family. Chef Tara Punzone pours her heart into every creation, keeping the vegan community alive and connected. If you’re in West Hollywood, Pura Vita is a must-visit for an unforgettable dining experience.

Best Carbonara Ever - Edit
I'm not normally impressed by pasta but this is by far the best I've ever had. It's so creamy and flavorful.
Read moreThe Margherita Pizza was second best, with pepperoni on top. Wish the pepperoni was more crispy. And the pizza a little less floppy.
The Black Magic Lasagna was third best though was my husband and brother's gf favorite. Very creamy and flavorful too.
And Animal Lovers calzone used to wow me but this time felt like too much.

The cheeeeeseee - Edit
I have this obsession with vegan cheese. And 4 cheese pizza hits the spot. It is absolutely amazing. Cheese tastes like it is homemade (none of that plasticy store bought thing). And we tried truffle pasta that was pretty good as well. Dough is pretty good, a little bit on the cheewy side, and it is brushed with oil on the crust, which is a bit different than european pizza but great nonetheless.

🌿✨ PuraVita West Hollywood – The Best Vegan Italian Experience in LA - Edit
Read moreReview:
PuraVita is hands down the best vegan Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. The Caesar salad is absolutely amazing—fresh, crisp, and paired with the most delicious and unforgettable dressing. Their brunch is a dream, with perfectly seasoned tofu scrambles, spinach, and mushrooms that taste just as comforting as they are healthy.
Every pizza, salad, and soup I’ve tried here has been a masterpiece—flavorful, authentic, and beautifully crafted. Chef Tara is an original and creative talent, truly one of a kind. With roots tracing back to Italy through her parents or grandparents, she brings a genuine authenticity and flair to every dish.
If you’re looking for vegan cuisine that is vibrant, soulful, and deeply satisfying, PuraVita is the place. The best of the best—Chef Tara and her team make dining here a remarkable experience every single

garlic knots and chocolate chip cookie - Edit
The garlic knots were amazing. So was the broccolini. And my goodness the chocolate chip cookie was the best I ever had. Every bite had a bunch of chocolate in it. The spicy penne pasta was tasty too. I also really liked the pistachio gelato. Man really tasty place! Loved it.

I’ve been coming here for years and it is AMAZING. It is a little upscale and pricey, but I would consider it to be worth the price. I love coming here at night because it’s perfect for date night, but it is also really great in the daytime too. The staff are also always very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

A bit disappointing... - Edit
It was decent, but didn't live up to the hype. The eggplant in the parm was undercooked. My mother is from Rome so I feel I can say with authority that the marinara needs work. The hazelnut gelato was creamy, but too sugary so the balance of flavor was off. Seems like a decent place for a nosh and some wine/affogato. The coffee was the strongest part of the meal. The cashew based beschamel was pretty good too. In my opinion, the place to beat in America for vegan Italian is Ittle Italy in Miami. It is owned and operated by an Italian who is straight off the boat.

Our first time in LA was all about food— we only went to all vegan restaurants, and none of them disappointed! Amazing Italian Food! - Edit
The prices at Pura Vita but the portions sizes (and taste of course!) are well worth it! The calzone was so good, but should have asked how big it was first; much too large for a single person to eat. Food was excellent all around, would absolutely recommend.
