🌿✨ PuraVita West Hollywood – The Best Vegan Italian Experience in LA - Edit
Review:
PuraVita is hands down the best vegan Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. The Caesar salad is absolutely amazing—fresh, crisp, and paired with the most delicious and unforgettable dressing. Their brunch is a dream, with perfectly seasoned tofu scrambles, spinach, and mushrooms that taste just as comforting as they are healthy.
Every pizza, salad, and soup I’ve tried here has been a masterpiece—flavorful, authentic, and beautifully crafted. Chef Tara is an original and creative talent, truly one of a kind. With roots tracing back to Italy through her parents or grandparents, she brings a genuine authenticity and flair to every dish.
If you’re looking for vegan cuisine that is vibrant, soulful, and deeply satisfying, PuraVita is the place. The best of the best—Chef Tara and her team make dining here a remarkable experience every single

Huge disappointment - Edit
I found it to be very mediocre in all regards, especially staff service when I came near the beginning of dinner service (so it’s not like they were busy or anything). Food was just.. not good.

garlic knots and chocolate chip cookie - Edit
The garlic knots were amazing. So was the broccolini. And my goodness the chocolate chip cookie was the best I ever had. Every bite had a bunch of chocolate in it. The spicy penne pasta was tasty too. I also really liked the pistachio gelato. Man really tasty place! Loved it.

Best Vegan Italian - Edit
I’ve been coming here for years and it is AMAZING. It is a little upscale and pricey, but I would consider it to be worth the price. I love coming here at night because it’s perfect for date night, but it is also really great in the daytime too. The staff are also always very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

A bit disappointing... - Edit
It was decent, but didn't live up to the hype. The eggplant in the parm was undercooked. My mother is from Rome so I feel I can say with authority that the marinara needs work. The hazelnut gelato was creamy, but too sugary so the balance of flavor was off. Seems like a decent place for a nosh and some wine/affogato. The coffee was the strongest part of the meal. The cashew based beschamel was pretty good too. In my opinion, the place to beat in America for vegan Italian is Ittle Italy in Miami. It is owned and operated by an Italian who is straight off the boat.

Fantastic! - Edit
Our first time in LA was all about food— we only went to all vegan restaurants, and none of them disappointed! Pura Vita has a great atmosphere, very friendly and welcoming staff, and the food was just fantastic. The garlic knots literally melt in your mouth! I cannot wait until we are back in the area to eat here again.

Amazing Italian Food! - Edit
The prices at Pura Vita but the portions sizes (and taste of course!) are well worth it! The calzone was so good, but should have asked how big it was first; much too large for a single person to eat. Food was excellent all around, would absolutely recommend.

I spent my birthday here with some friends and it was so lovely. I loved the candle-lit ambience and the food and wine was spot on. They even “surprised” me with a slice of dessert with a candle. 🥰

Don’t wait as long as I did to try! - Edit
This was a long time coming! I have been wanting to try @puravita_la forever and am glad we finally did! Our dinner was amazing- the highlights were definitely the carbonara pizza (mozzarella, avocado egg and macadamia Romano cream, shiitake bacon and parsley) and the affogato. The carbonara pizza was rich and like nothing I’d ever taste before. I think the avocado egg was the key ingredient, I’d never seen it worked into pizza like that! It was a dinner special, but the carbonara pasta is a permanent fixture on the menu so I’d recommend that if you can’t get the pizza version. Dessert was affogato with hazelnut gelato that was so creamy (oat milk based)!!!! It tasted like a was eating a vegan Ferrero rocher and it was the perfect end to a delicious meal. Appetizer: garlic knots (delish), other pizza: Americana (good but carbonara stole the show). The staff was super friendly and I manifested a parking spot at a meter right in front of the restaurant so I guess you can say it was a magical dinner!

Kinda disappointing - Edit
Maybe I ordered the wrong things, but I don't understand why this is in the top 5 highest-rated restaurants on HappyCow for LA. The restaurant was cute, and there are no complaints with the service. The location is good. The food is a let down though. I didn't care for 2/3 of the things I tried. And even the one I liked (calzone) wasn't particularly flavorful or of high quality

Good food, good ambience - Edit
My wife and I like this place a lot. Good food, good ambiance. We had the Arancini, , mozzarella stick, the Pura Puta salad. For our main I had the puttanesca and my wife had baked Ziti Alfredo with butternut squash. For dessert we had the Pignoli cookies and of course the tiramisu..

Maybe I have been unlucky each time I have gone there but I have been here a handful of times over the last 5 years and never had a good meal here. I know so many rave about it and sadly I just don’t think it’s worth the money.
