Fabulous Restaurant - Edit
A wonderful restaurant to go for a nice evening. Dress up or dress down. Either is acceptable. Great service and food. They made recommended food based on our needs and were willing to alter items. Definitely a repeat visit is required.

Creative and amazing food! A must go in Toronto. - Edit
Great place to show off how incridible is vegan cuisine, since the whole menu is vegan. An wonderful option for a fine dinning with vegans and non vegans. Everything was really really tasteful and the servings were fair.

Delicious Creative Vegan Food - Edit
I read the reviews before booking here for a birthday dinner and was hesitant to come here due to the negative reviews on small portions for $$$ but I really wanted to try out.
Read moreI'm so glad I didn't change my mind. It was so good, I can't wait to go back.
This is an upscale restaurant. Expect to be spending a few even on the smaller portions. Negative reviewers commenting about this need to calm down.
I did not leave this restaurant hungry. My husband and I shared the queso dip and stuffed mushrooms. Both appetizers; the small portions. My stomach was pretty satisfied at this point. I had the frenchie pizza (I had leftovers). He had the cavatelli pasta. I always have dessert after the meal, so I ordered the chocolate terrarium. It was delicious but I couldn't finish since it was so rich with peanut butter chocolatey sweetness.
My husband and friends who are all omnis, had positive reactions to the food there. Some of them who ordered the burger said the patty was pretty bland though.
Food was quality, presentation was beautiful. Atmosphere was relaxing. I really liked the natural lighting from the windows on the ceiling.

Being vegan is fun & cool - Edit
That, at least, is how you feel when visiting the buzzing restaurant and bar that is Toronto’s La Planta. We went on a week night, without a booking, to find an obviously full restaurant, with several people waiting ahead of us. But the friendly hostess found us seats in the bar in no time. As it turned out, chairs were comfortable and the bar area delightful. We ordered small portions of stuffed mushrooms and a small serving of Singapore noodles, a pizza main, and an Italian Rosé. The latter came quickly. The food took longer, but they were busy and anyway, we were drinking wine, watching people & chatting. When the food arrived, we knew that it had been worth the wait. The mushrooms were juicy and crunchy at once and the pizza was a delight - a fresh, crispy base topped with mushrooms, spinach and cashew ricotta. The Singapore noodles were less successful; so we decided that life was too short, picked out the tofu and ordered dessert. When the chocolate mousse arrived, topped with coconut cream and crunchy bits, we were in heaven. You ask yourself if the happily chatting and eating crowd at La Planta are vegan, or if they simply enjoy great food, friendly service and a lovely environment.

Amazing food & excellent service! - Edit
This is in the top three best dining experiences I’ve ever had. The service was exceptional, the server was happy to help with ordering and very patient, the atmosphere perfect, music suitable, wine list concise, and THE FOOD! Every dish was perfectly portioned, easily shareable and so well-crafted, beautiful to behold, and deliciously mastered.

Upscale vegan! - Edit
I really enjoyed my dinner at Planta. We came at the tail end of brunch but made reservations online enroute to make sure we had a spot and that wasn't a problem. (Kudos for being able to make brunch reservations!!) They are a large restaurant so it seemed like there was still space available once we arrived anyhow.

great food, for ‘downtown’ prices - Edit
Loved the food here, great atmosphere, love that people of all ages go here and enjoy the food as much as I did.

Disappointed - Edit
We got the kimchi spring rolls, burger, the Italian job pizza and a side of fried mushrooms. Extremely underwhelmed by this restaurant. Especially because of the price of the food. The fried mushrooms were the best part and they were a side dish. We also had to wait quite a while because the pizza oven was backed up... Nice atmosphere though. The dessert was good. We had the carrot cake and a cookie. Although they forgot to give it to us with the cake so we took it to go.

Good Vegan Food - Edit
I wish I could have given a better rating, but I was pretty put off when I arrived at 5:50 and was told I'd need to vacate the table by 6:30 pm. It added unneeded stress while visiting here on business. I had to prompt the server at 6:10 to take my order so I could leave the table on time. My order didn't arrive until 6:25 and no one seemed to care by 6:30; so stress for nothing. Food was good; I had a pizza that I enjoyed. Having eaten at many upscale restaurants across Canada, the menu wasn't that impressive. The other customers were great and such enjoyable company. The generally unwelcoming greeting perhaps clouded the rest.

always fabulous and delicious! - Edit
Fantastically hip without being pretentious, the ambience and vibe are completely on point. Fab service all the time. The crowd is a wonderful mashup of folks from business dinners to earthy vegans to girls nights outs to quiet duos. The food is always amazing. I've never been disappointed and I visit often. Great cocktails. Wonderful organic and vegan wine list. Every non-vegan I've dined with here has nothing but awesome things to say. A must if you're in the city.

Pizza and cauliflower tots so good! - Edit
My review is actually based on a delivery order via UberEats. So I can't actually comment on the restaurant itself. It was really cold out tonight so I decided to order in from Planta. I got the mushroom pizza and cauliflower tots. OMG they were both outstanding! The dip with the tots is delicious! And the pizza was amazing. If I hasn't specifically chosen a vegan restaurant, I would have never guessed! Would definitely recommend.

Great Food, Stupid Expensive - Edit
I like Planta I should preface, and I get their niche. It's a semi-high-class restaurant so the prices match. But some of their prices are beyond reasonable. Don't expect to leave for less than $100.

Interesting dishes - Edit
The ambience/decor was pleasant but the music was way too loud. We tried the Caesar salad (good), chicken-fried oyster mushrooms (AMAZING), carrot dogs (good, but the accompanying french fries were FANTASTIC and tasted just like BBQ potato chips), lasagna (just OK), and crab cakes (nothing special, and not very crabby). The chocolate terrarium dessert was interesting and tasty. My only other gripe besides the noise level was the women's bathroom: of the four stalls, two were missing locks/latches completely, and a third was dark due to a dead bulb. For a classy and pricey place, I thought that was incongruous.

excellent upscale plant-based fine dining - Edit
Planta's menu is tapas style, 100% plant-based and delicious! Our pizza ranked among the tastiest vegan and gluten free pizzas we have ever had! The wine, beer, and cocktail list is extensive to complement your dining experience. Definitely get a reservation on the weekend. It's a large restaurant but it fills up fast. While expensive, the food is definitely high quality and worth it!

Finally Upscale Plant-based dining in Toronto! - Edit
Planta is excellent. Fantastic menu, stylish décor and great service. Wonderful selection and price with many interesting items and creative food combinations. So, between the two of us, we tried almost everything on the menu!

Welcome addition to Toronto - Edit
Planta is filling a void in Toronto. It may be pricey, but we needed an upscale option in the city. Planta is funky (such cool decor) and the menu is really inventive. They don't serve fake meat but instead allow vegetables to shine in delicious and creative ways. My non-vegan husband likes it so much he suggested we go back again before I even did.

Great food, a bit over rated - Edit
A few great menu items and a few disappointing ones, order wisely and ask your server for help. One server advised me against ordering a couple items because they're not very tasty.
Read moreWonderful and unique cocktail selection. Upscale space which is hard to find with vegan restaurants but the service is on par with your average restaurant, at times worse than your average restaurant (drinks are slow and came after our appetizers, even though we ordered drinks first, dinner came before we were done appetizers). I get that these things happen but when you're paying a premium, there are different service expectations.
Servers were all friendly and helpful and nice, though. Will go back sometime.

Excellent Food and good service .... a little pricey but not excessively so considering the ambiance and service. - Edit
Tried half a dozen dishes. Very tasty, good flavours. Emphasis on Organic. We enjoyed all the dishes, although one was not quite perfectly prepared, it was almost like eating at home!
Read morePresentation was very good and the surroundings were elegant and clean. The only jarring note was the poor quality sound system playing distorted "music".
Excellent organic wine selection!
The dessert we tried (avocado cheesecake) was very good.
As is common in Toronto, the coffee wasn't great - such a shame as it's the last thing many customers consume.
Cost for two with a glass of wine for one $95.00. Our meal consisted of soup, mains and one dessert.
Would we go again? Most definitely - it was the best meal we've had in a restaurant for a long time!
Pros: Good service, High quality food, Clean elegant surroundings
Cons: Noisy distorted music system, Coffee not up to the quality of the food, Somewhat expensive

AMAZING upscale vegan food. - Edit
Planta's food is quite amazing. It's also quite expensive, though not unexpectedly so. The decor is well-designed, attractive, and modern, and the restaurant is in a nice area of downtown called Yorkville (right at Bay subway station). It is what the Toronto vegan scene needed, ever since its 2 other upscale vegan restaurants (Tori's Bakeshop After Hours and Grasslands) closed down within the last year.
Read moreThe service at Planta was very friendly and overall good, though they did make a few errors with our drinks. I'll chalk the errors up to them being such a new restaurant though (they opened just a month ago). One other thing to note is that the cocktails may not be all that strong. My lightweight boyfriend had 2 Pear'd up drinks, and he didn't get a buzz at all.
For dinner, there were 4 of us, and we shared most of the items we ordered. So, I got to taste several items, including: beets and grapefruit salad, mushroom and roasted squash salad, Brussels sprouts fried rice, steamed broccoli, coconut ceviche, Frenchie pizza, crab cakes, and no noodle lasagna. Everything was VERY good, and my favorite item was the fried rice. The coconut ceviche and crab cakes were really innovative and delicious too.
For dessert, we shared the chocolate terrarium (with peanut butter cream) and the coconut chia pudding with passion fruit sorbet (served inside a young Thai coconut). Both were delicious, but the coconut pudding was ridiculously good.
Overall, our experience at Planta was wonderful. It is an expensive restaurant, though, so it was really nice to be treated to a meal there by my parents. I don't expect to go back too often because of the cost, but I will be very very excited when I do!!
Pros: delicious food, beautiful decor, all vegan
Cons: expensive
