Well... hmmmm - Edit
Everything tasted good... and when the more than half a dozen server staff in a nearly empty restaurant were actually around and facing our direction so we could catch their attention - they were nice... But - that being said, the service quality was poor at best... We noticed how often we - their only patrons for the longest time - were left on our own with no one checking in with us to see if we had everything we needed. When one server of 6 did finally come back to our table, it was with the next item of food... so if we'd needed anything before that, we were S.O.L. My friend finally had to get up to ask for a spoon so that we could enjoy the sauce on the udon noodle dish... It came in a bowl but didn't have a spoon with it for serving! Not very well thought out or considerate of the patron's experience - which is not very smart business... AND it kind of does a disservice to the vegan movement - when most people are vegan for compassionate reasons - this type of "no one is good enough for us" "make you wait " kind of attitude is just lame.
Read moreThe food did taste good but would be better off with the staff being more available to their clientele and there being a bit more on the plate for the price of everything. There could be double the amount and it would still be expensive. This is a place to go if you only want a small snack and to be ignored...
We were at the Queen Street (near University) location... Maybe the other ones are better managed
Pros: Nice decor, Does taste good - what little you get.
Cons: Wait staff is very poorly managed, Priorities are mixed up, Tiny portions

I love this place! Awesome food. Great vibes. My non vegan friends were all super impressed and nothing was too "out - there" for them.

maitre d' tried her best to ruin an otherwise good experience. - Edit
Upon entering, the maitre d' insisted they were fully booked, despite there being plenty of empty tables. So I went to the bar and booked a table online, no problem. That really annoyed her.
Read moreOnce she reluctantly showed us to our table, the quality of the food made up for the experience thus far. The menu is great, albeit very overpriced.
Pros: Great menu, Beautiful Decor
Cons: Elitist maitre d', Patronising maitre d', Did I mention the maitre d'? She was the worst.

Guessing it’s the ambiance that makes this place great. My Uber Eats order was solid but not outstanding enough to warrant the price.

Chic - Edit
The decor is beautiful and it's very upscale. Very expensive and the portion sizes are very small so not a great value but it is an upscale restaurant. I wasn't amazed by the food I had but it was pretty good.

Beautiful surroundings and delicious food - Edit
Staff friendly and the restaurant is lovely to eat in. Food was great - I had Frenchie pizza and my husband had the mushroom waffle. Given it 4 stars and not 5 because it is a bit too pricey.

Upscale & outstanding - Edit
The restaurant is beautifully decorated. It was definitely busy and we were told we would have to leave within an hour, so a reservation would probably have been a good idea. The hostesses were a bit snarky, as others have mentioned, but once we were seated, the servers were all friendly, helpful, and attentive and we never felt like they were rushing us. The food was delicious and the whole atmosphere was lovely.

Amazing experience! - Edit
Planta is the type of vegan restaurant you absolutely NEED to visit with friends and family. Foods influenced by Mediterranean, Asian, American, Italian, Mexican cuisines and more. The menu is very creative, with international foods which means everyone will find something suitable for them.
Read moreI tried the pizza, tacos, brownie dessert and truffles, I was blown away. The food is so delicious, fresh, flavourful and beautifully presented. Great restaurant vibe, decor and size. I have to disagree with some of the reviews on here saying that the prices are too high. Of course, the prices are not going to be affordable for everyone; however, considering Planta is in downtown Toronto, is a large restaurant, has a more upscale vibe with high-quality foods, I would say the prices are reasonable. If you compare other ‘upscale’ non-vegan restaurants, they are far more expensive and the food is quite generic. Overall, so impressed by Planta and will be visiting again.

Overpriced with very small portions - Edit
Although the decor is beautiful and the service efficient to the point of obsequiousness, the very small yet very overpriced portions do make this a restaurant I will not return to.

Good food, but expensive - Edit
Have been here twice and tried a variety of things from the menu. It's pretty good, but isn't for everyone, especially given the price. There are several other places I would recommend to people before Planta. Went once with non-vegan family members and they all enjoyed it quite a bit. I'd probably give it 3.5 stars if that was an option.

Delicious, large menu - Edit
Came here with my boyfriend for a romantic vegan dinner. The ambiance was cool, good music, great lighting and vibe. But most importantly the menu was large and every single thing we tried was delicious. We tried the stuffed mushrooms, jackfruit tacos, avocado/beet tartare, eggplant entree, lime cheesecake, and chocolate terrarium. Small plates, so order a lot. Favorite was the eggplant. Savory plates were better than the desserts in my opinion. But desserts were indulgent and fancy and we liked them too.

Pricey, but a great treat if your looking for something fancier - Edit
My husband and I visited here with my mom and sister and really liked it. The portions were on the small side, especially given the price, but that’s typical for upscale restaurants. I do find it a bit challenging when this is done with vegan food though, since generally you need to eat more of it to feel full. We tried a variety of dishes including a burger, a pizza, and ‘crab’ cakes. My husband says the burger is to die for.

Overpriced for small portions - Edit
We were a group of four friends and ordered several dishes to share in order to try as much as we could. The only dish that kind of impressed me was the Tartare. Everything else was mediocre, I've had much better vegan/vegetarian meals with much more effort made into being creative in the kitchen elsewhere. I left still hungry after spending $55 and I didn't have a cocktail.

Very cute little restaurants with great vegan options that go beyond the basic burgers and tacos. A little pricier compared to the portions that they serve, however this is expected as it is a little more upscale.

They may be kind to animal but they treat humans like [censored] - Edit
This is my worst experience with a restaurant after having made a reservation.
Read moreThe owners are extremely greedy and it shows in the way they treat their customers. Coming into the place is worse than hopping on a busy bus or subway, with entitled customers literally shoving you out of the way and the wait staff ignoring you and taking down to you at every chance.
We had to wait in line for a good 15 minutes before we could even tell them about our reservation. They take note and expect you to wait endlessly like an idiot, the bar is off limits and filled with walk-ins, no texting system or token to let you know, your only option is to wait in the tiny lobby while you watch other parties get seated and yours get ignored.
We had to wait for 45 minutes and when we asked we were told they were seating people who made a reservation for one hour ago.... This means you will wait an hour at least if you make a reservation while waiters talk down to you and tell you how hard they're trying when the opposite is obvious.
You see, we make reservation to avoid this [censored], restaurants have bars for patrons to sit and wait, and they have modern systems to let them know when the table is ready, nobody who made a reservation is willing to wait in barn like setting for an hour to be seated.
Please avoid getting treated like garbage by greedy restaurant owners who's only concern is to squeeze every last penny they could even if it means mistreating their customers. On a related note, I am certain with all the people inside they were well over capacity but again they could care less if we all burned for that sweet insurance money.
Pros: none
Cons: Abysmal customer service , Long wait times even with advanced reservation, Overcrowded restaurant with no room to wait

Pretty Good! - Edit
We went there as a group of 9 (only two of us are vegan) and everyone seemed to be overall pleased with the presentation and taste. Items ordered included: kimchi spring rolls, planta burger, habibi salad, Thai noodle salad, and The Bianca pizza. I had the pizza which was good (but I have had better). Really nice-looking restaurant with a cool vibe but I can't say that this would be my first choice as a recommendation.

Exquisite and Elegant Vegan Meal - Edit
I was recommend Planta by my carnivorous cousin who lives in Toronto. She told us to make a reservation because they are always packed, so we did. When we got there our table wasn't ready yet so we took a seat at the bar and they brought us their Truffle Cauliflower Tots, on the house, while we ordered drinks from their summer cocktail menu! Once seated we were given the full ambiance of the restaurant, a live DJ and gorgeous interior. To start we ordered some more of the Truffle Cauliflower Tots, they are completely addictive! Since we were three people, we decided to order a bunch of food to share. We ordered the "Crab" Cakes, Eggplant Lasagna, Thai Noodles, and a Pizza. The portions were very big and we were stuffed but there was no way we were leaving without dessert! We ordered the Sinful Chocolate Brownie that we are still dreaming about!
