Great Osakan Cuisine - Edit
Really great Osakan cuisine! One of the troubles of being vegan in Japan is the lack of options and as lovely as some of the other vegan restaurants we tried were, they had lots of burgers and not as much “traditional” cuisine. Having just had a tour guide tell us about all this traditional Osakan food that we couldn’t eat, we found out that pretty much all of it was served here! Can’t speak highly enough of it, so nice to not have to miss out on any of the culinary culture just because we’re vegan! Also has really friendly staff who speak great English and an easy to use online order/menu system in English!

I went to Pivot with my family and... OM-SQUEE IT WAS SO GOODDDDDDDDD, we all shared a chicken cutlet, vegan gyoza, curry rice, french fries, standard takoyaki, maipo eggplant, and salted bread. The chicken cutlet was so good that we ordered 2 more servings. Next the vegan gyoza, it was perfect if you tried the soy sauce and red chili oil on top. Then we tried the curry rice and it was SOOOOO delicious 😋. The French fries were crispy on the outside and soft like a pillow on the inside. Next the takoyaki which I ordered, it was so good it was hard to believe it was vegan. All the workers were so kind🩷

AF option available for non ramen and curry based selection. Portion for Yakisoba set seems to be a huge portion with 2 rice balls and a soup. Takoyaki balls was pipping hot, they catered teriyaki sauce and mayo sauce for you to add in according to your preference

Our saviour in Dotonbori - Edit
The street food scene in osaka, in particular dotonbori and shinsekai, is vibrant and exciting but challenging for plant based eaters. We ate here twice, both times around 2-3pm. No queue either time, but the place was always busy. We noticed a small queue on Saturday evening. It was the weekend of golden week. Everything we tried on the menu was delicious. Ramen, rice flour based takoyaki, the curry with soy cutlets. All delicious. Ordering is a breeze with your phone, all in English. When the street outside feels insane even in here, when full, it feels like an oasis. The guy who we assume may be an owner/manager speaks very good English (and other languages...) and is superb efficient, friendly, and helpful. And to prove this place exists in its own world, they ONLY except cards. No cash.

Probably the best ramen I’ve ever had! Went back 3 times during our stay in Osaka and my girlfriend eats meat and said it was the best as well! Would highly recommend coming here even if you eat meat!

Unfortunately the portions were very small and it wasn’t cheap at all. There was no toilet. And we had problems with their payment system. They don’t offer Cash payment as well which makes it a bit of a hassle.

Was a fully vegan place- found it overhyped. The staff was cold, the seating was uncomfortable in round stools and the food was average. Lacked any punch- a country which has such good chilli sauces, they just had tobasco which really didn't go with Japanese food! Ordered two items and skipped the main course here as it was very bland and leaving taste

Super delicious vegan Japanese food - Edit
This restaurant was my first experience eating out in Osaka and oh my they did not disappoint. I got a serve of vegan takoyaki, tantan ramen and a plum wine. The food was cooked to perfection. They used konjac in the takoyaki to replicate the squid texture, which I think worked beautifully. The tan tan ramen was truly the highlight, the broth was so rich and flavourful it almost brought me to tears (internally). I’ve tried a few vegan tan tan ramens in Australia (Melbourne) and while they were all great, this one was just on another level. I’m not someone who usually leaves long reviews but I feel like this venue deserves one! Would highly recommend it to everyone!
