Cozy - Edit
Cute small cozy place with multiple vegan options. Bit pricey for the amount, but then you do have a good tasting and good looking vegan gluten free okonomiyaki. Had some really nice home made drinks as well. The location is a bit hard to find if you don't know it's there!

Delicate and delicious - Edit
A wonderful experience for the taste buds and nose. The ambience plus service was exceptionally friendly and staff accommodated limited spoken Japanese and there was an English menu available upon request. Would recommend.

Venue
Read moreLast little shop at the end of an alley. A pretty big neon sign so you can’t miss it even from a distance. Seating for 7 I believe. Seems to be a secondary venue for “Spy’s Oasis” just down the street which also has vegan options.
Service
A friendly enough greeting. I did my initial order which was fine. I ordered something else and after 20mins of waiting, it was clear the staff weren’t actually cooking anything and were busy drinking with three obnoxious and annoying customers instead so I paid up and left. I was also asked if I’d like an egg on my okonomiyaki so I made sure to specify that I’d like a vegan okonomiyaki which means no egg. Being asked this in combination with the restaurant having vegan in the name despite serving lots of animal products should’ve set alarm bells ringing but I was tired and hungry.
Food
It’s been noted already and I’ve made an update request but this place is NOT VEGAN. It’s just vegan-friendly with a few vegan options. Fried soy meat was pretty good. Had a slight lemon-y taste to it. The okonomiyaki was okay. Not Hiroshima style which is what I’m used to. Not bad but not amazing. It was the first thing I ate (at approx 9:15pm) after a 7am breakfast so perhaps I would’ve felt the same about any food.
Price
3800jpy for the fried soy meat, the avocado topped okonomiyaki and a non-alcoholic beer. So…pretty expensive now that I think about it.

Not fully vegan, long wait - Edit
First of all this place is NOT fully vegan, not sure why it’s marked as such on happy cow. They use pork, shrimp, egg, etc. There are indeed gluten free options and vegan options but if you are both gluten free and vegan you’re short of luck.
Read moreWe asked for kimchi on our okonomiyaki with no problems, but when we received our food (some 40 minutes) after ordering we were told they were sold out of kimchi (and they lowkey gaslit us like we never asked for it). Also when I ordered the vegan okonomiyaki I was asked if I wanted egg in it, so who knows what other animal products they think are vegan?
As for the okonomiyaki itself, it’s simply covered in red sauce with a small dollop of a yogurt like cream. It’s not crispy at all and the interior is mushy and bland.
With avocado it’s priced at 2200 yen which is quite steep compared to the 1300 yen okonomiyaki at vegan and gluten free Osaka in umeda which is considerably tastier as well.

Probably listed as fully vegan based on the name of the place. But yeah, lots of animal based foods on the menu. I’ve submitted an update request to HappyCow already.

Cozy little retreat - Edit
Tucked away in an alley is this delightful eatery - an oasis from the bustle of Dotonbori.
Read moreThe staff were friendly and the okonomiyaki was just so delicious. Small, but delicious. Generally, a bit more on the expensive side, but worth it if you have the budget.

Delicious and stylish - Edit
The okonomiyaki here was really good, as were the drinks and fried soy meat. The place is intimate and cosy, and has more upmarket vibe than other vegan okonomiyaki alternatives in Osaka.

Cons: Slightly pricier than other places
