Oh. My. God! - Edit
I don't even know where to start! I've never had Sri Lankan food, but I'm always up for a new culinary adventure. The reviews sounded great, and the pictures looked good, and all of it made for an amazing foodie experience! The ambiance is very warm and welcoming with an indoor dining room and even better, a spacious outdoor patio with lights everywhere and heat lamps for chilly weather, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food is outstanding! The combination of flavors, heat levels, spices, and all the love that was obviously poured into it combined to make it a fantastic meal. They have lots of gluten-free options as well. Even the meat eaters would be happy. I highly recommend a visit!

Go here now! - Edit
We were in Portland last weekend and had the great pleasure of eating here. We came after a less than great experience at another vegan joint in town. And what a blessing that the first place was a bummer because it led us here! The food was great, the outside patio was great, and the people were great. I would eat here weekly if I lived in Portland!

Fun - Edit
I’ve never had Sri Lankan food before, so we were excited to try something new. I ordered the new year special and new year dessert because I really didn’t know what anything was or what I liked. There were a bunch of different things in the new year dinner, and my favorites were the dal and some onion dish. Everything else had flavors I wasn’t the biggest fan of but I was glad I got to try. The four-star rating was because I didn’t really love anything but it was mostly because of my palate not because the restaurant wasn’t good. The flavors in the desert were also unique to my palate, and I typically like desserts to be a little sweeter. Overall, I was very happy to have tried this place and would recommend to anyone who likes Indian food as the flavors were pretty similar.

My favorite aspect of the restaurant is that many of the meals come as a set of small dishes/meals. It is so fun to try a variety of new (yummy!) foods!

Just..Wow! - Edit
Absolutely incredible. I visit PDX about once every 2-3 months and I always stoked to try a new vegan place. While I almost always love what I’m trying, I honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve been wowed like this. I’ve never had Sri Lankan cuisine before. Obviously very Indian inspired but much fresher tasting. Everything was perfectly spiced, seasoned, and cooked. A dance of freshness and spice, intense flavor and savoriness. Had no idea what I was eating and I thoroughly savored every morsel of it. Will absolutely be back.
Read moreA few other reviewers said it was spendy but when you consider that the price includes tip, I really didn’t find it any more expensive than any other good sit down meal.
I will say dress for the weather. Indoor seating is very limited and the outdoor seating lacked much protection from the elements on the particularly chilly, damp night I was there. Heaters were scant.

I have not had food from Sri Lanka before and wanted to give it a try. The dishes I had were a true flavor explosion! All of them were incredible. Fantastic food. There is limited inside seating but plenty outside. A must try!

Too expensive for me - Edit
I cycled out to this cool place to try some Sri Lankan food.
Read moreThe staff person helped me navigate to something that would work for me - gluten-free, no potatoes or tomatoes, and of course, vegan.
I received a Rice & Curry plate. This had a nice sampling of several curries, a tasty jackfruit curry, rice, and a papadum. My photograph does not do the presentation justice. I do not know why I did not take a photo without the papadum covering the food.
It was okay. I found the flavours kind of muted.
It was 24$ (thought it could have been 26$ - I wasn't paying that much attention but I think the jackfruit sampler was a sub for something else and I was charged accordingly) which I thought was quite expensive for what I got. I did like to presentation.
Pros: Nice presntation, Helpful staffperson, Nice vibe
Cons: Very expensive for what I got

Spices. Flavors. WOW. - Edit
This authentic Sri Lankan restaurant packs a punch when it comes to amazing, plant-based goodness originating from South Asia.
Read moreTheir menu is extensive and focuses a lot on various rice dishes and curries. We went with their Weekend Rice & Curry Special ($23.50) which was a mix plate of dishes including plantains, curry, gourd, dahl, and papadam. Everything was seasoned well and tasted amazing. Adding to this, we also had their Deviled "Sausages" special ($17) which imitated Chinese lap-chern sausage on top of this amazingly fragrant fried rice.
Oh, and let's not forget their Roti! We also ordered one of their thick flatbreads which came piping hot and made the perfect carb to enjoy with all the curries and dishes.
I loved that you were able to dine inside or at one of the extensive outdoor areas. On a warm sunny evening, it was the perfect spot to enjoy one of their house spritzers or a beer. They even brought out the food to our table so service here was spot-on.
What's also great is that all their prices already include tip and they assure customers that everyone is paid a living wage. I can certainly appreciate them making it known they're trying to support their workers, but definitely tip on top if you wish.
Pros: Excellent food, Plenty of outdoor seating

Amazing Hoppers - Edit
Hoppers seem to be what is called Aappam in India. With a mildly sweet coconut flavour, it tasted amazing. The roti was way too oily. Dal was great, Eggplant too oily again and excessively sour and the potato curry was decent.
Read moreThe Biscuit Pudding was not too sweet, just mildly cold and tasted fine. Biscuit was mashed in too smoothly to detect it.

Unique & delicious - Edit
I personally have never had Sri Lankan food before, but someone in our group who had was VERY impressed. As was I! Definitely fun to try all the things on the today plate. The deviled pork was my favorite. Meatball kottu was a new experience. Food was EXCELLENT - indoor dining ambiance could be improved.

Wow - Edit
Have had brunch and dinner there and wow...this place is unique in Portland in its cuisine and business model (it's a worker owned co-op!). They have a ton of options and a dinner special that changes weekly so you can try different curries (the cashew curry and garlic curry are to die for). The service is warm and friendly. They will take time to help you out if you're new to Sri Lankan food or if you're wanting to be cautious about the spiciness of your food as Sri Lankan food is, at baseline, much more spicy than other South Asian cuisines (they do have some milder options). Would recommend taking a look at the menu in advance if you're new to the cuisine as I'm sure it's hard to explain things thoroughly at the counter on a busy night.

This is cute restaurant with amazing food. However, kottu had too much masala in it and we couldn't eat it. But other dishes were amazing. This is a must visit if you are Portland. I would definitely go back.

What happened, Mirisata? - Edit
I used to love Mirisata for my dhal fix and the soy curls. But yesterday it was quite the change. The side of dhal I ordered barely came to halfway up the cup and usually it's a full cup of deliciousness. The soy curls dish was mostly half-raw onion with two pieces of tomato and very few curls. And this totaled $24.
Read moreIn mitigation. yesterday was brutally hot and, personally, I wouldn't have volunteered to work in a kitchen. Maybe heat madness took over the kitchen or -- worse -- they've changed chefs.
I'm really disappointed because this appears to be the only vegan Sri Lankan restaurant in the city. I'll have to find my dhal fix elsewhere.
Pros: Dhal -- it's excellent, Great staff, Love the outdoor patio
Cons: Small portions, Few soy curls in the main dish, Raw onion
