Outstanding food from an outstanding collective - Edit
Where to start?? The food ranges from good to best quality. They have this really great concept of changing their menu every day. So if you have food allergies, please inform yourself about the menu. The drinking water is free. The price for the menu: pay how much you can. I recommend at least 15€. As it's quite popular, I also recommend making a reservation.

They are sooo nice!! To clarify: it's not against tourists (meaning travellers and visitors), but against terrorists who destroy cities all over the world. If you book with Airbnb or rented apartments, you destroy the cities for the people living in it. In Valencia thousands of people got evicted because of you. Their lives are destroyed because of greedy disrespectful terrorists. So instead of leaving bad comments, you might take a look at yourself and try to become a better you. With all love=)

Asociación con comida vegana 100% casera - Edit
Es preferible ir con reserva. Nosotras no lo sabíamos y como tenían hueco nos pudimos quedar a comer. La comida es casera y muy rica. El trato fue súper amable y respetuoso, tal y como son sus principios que nos indicaron al entrar. El pago del menú es personal pero siempre responsable. Recomiendan entre 10-15 euros por persona que lo merecen.

Un local encantador amb bons valors i el menjar estava ESPECTACULAR. No és exactament un restaurant. T'has de registrar gratis a la web per poder accedir-hi i el preu va a la voluntat. Good concept, not welcoming - Edit
It’s not a restaurant, so don’t expect being served like in a restaurant. Same food gets served to everyone and it’s a new menu daily. You decide yourself how much to pay and all the profits go to animal charities, so CASH ONLY!

I was personally startled by is a massive sign saying “tourists not welcome”. I’m Spanish but I came with my non Spanish vegan friend (who’s also an animal rights activist), so it did feel discriminative for a supposedly “inclusive” place. Knowing how excluded and even bullied vegans already feel in any society, it was disappointing to see.

I went here because I thought it was a vegan restaurant. Indeed it was, but with an interesting twist: they offer a daily fixed (lunch) menu which consists of 4-5 courses, and in the end you pay them what you think the food was worth. There's free water and you can order other drinks at the bar.
Read moreThe first three courses (a dip, a soup and a seafood imitation) were exceptionally good! I personally could have stopped there since the main and the dessert were not really my taste, but everything was high quality and really well prepared.
The staff was sceptical about me being there since I was obviously a tourist and their target audience are locals. They were not rude, but I didn't feel too welcome either.
I love the initiative and their cause and enjoyed the experience (and definitely the food!), but don't think I would return. I prefer fixed prices.

Xenophobic to vegan travelers - Edit
We went to go check it out and were very disappointed to see a sign saying Tourists not welcome. So we didn't go in. I can't imagine any other country or any city anywhere in the world with such a xenophobic attitude toward vegan/veggie travelers. Vegans and vegetarians have enough trouble finding decent places to eat or just existing amongst very meat-centric and meat dominate attitudes all over the world. As a veggie from 1985, I can remember when the options were very slim indeed. The one place I thought you could find solace for us and a welcome, no matter where we come from is at veggie and vegan restaurants around the world. This is really disappointing and perhaps Happy Cow should rethink listing this restaurant or at least contact them and say something. It's sadly very xenophobic and it feels at odds with Veganism and Happy Cow's values.

Siempre he encumbrado a La mandrágora como el mejor restaurante vegano de valencia (o por lo menos mi favorito) por varios motivos; obviamente por su comida casera bien elaborada, imaginativa y variada. También me parecía encomiable que fuera una asociación reivindicativa y que usasen sus emonumentos para ayudar a los más desfavorecidos, entre ellos los animales. Por ello siempre les he recomendado y publicitado en redes sociales sin interés personal ninguno.

Incluso les advertí que mi compañera era celíaca y todo hay que decirlo, se ofrecieron amablemente a preparar un menú para ella.
Reservé segundo turno a las 15,30 el cual finaliza a las 17,00, tiempo más que suficiente para comer.
Acudí a las 15,00 en punto y me quedé en la puerta esperando a que saliese el anterior turno y a que llegase mi compañera. A las 15,30 mi compañera me dijo que estaba buscando aparcamiento y que se retrasaría unos minutos. Entré en el local a las 15,40 con la idea de tomar algo mientras esperaba y cual fue mi sorpresa cuando se lo comenté al camarero y me dijo que ya no nos podían dar de comer pero que aún así lo comentaría con el resto de trabajadores. Volvió y se ratificó en su decisión aduciendo que no había avisado de llegar tarde???, de que la cocina estaba cerrada y otras escusas sin sentido. Intenté hablar con su compañera que me conoce de haber ido varias veces y se opuso igualmente. Seguían con la escusa de haber llegado tarde 10 minutos. Incluso les dije de empezar a comer yo y cuando llegase mi compañera comiera ella si le daba tiempo pero ni por esas. Al final la cuestión fue que eramos la única mesa y claro no iban a perder el tiempo por nosotros. Supuestamente estaban cansados y llegaron a decirme que estaba siendo muy poco comprensivo... Total que nos quedamos en la calle sin poder comer. Obviamente pedí hoja de reclamaciones y se rieron de mi. Avisé a la policia local para que se personase pero resulta que las "asociaciones" como esta no necesitan hojas de reclamación porque obviamente lo hacen todo por amor al arte (en este caso los animales.. sic). En fin, mucha reivindicación, mucho extranjeros fuera!!! (cuando para pedirles la limosna no hay problema..), mucha inclusión pero muy poca educación y respeto por los clientes porque al final somos clientes...

Cons: Mala educación, Prepotencia, Tratamiento dictatorial. (Fascistoide).

Read moreLe concept est très particulier. Comme il s'agit d'une association il faut remplir un formulaire en ligne avant de manger. Pourquoi pas ? Mais aucun effort n'est fait en anglais ou dans un espagnol compréhensible par des personnes qui ne le maîtrise pas pour expliquer la chose (une petite fiche en anglais pourrait les épargner de faire cet immense effort). On ne nous met pas à l'aise. Bref, on a l'impression de gêner. Sans doute que les posters anti-touristes sont une explication à ce comportement. Une image sectaire et déplorable du veganisme comme je le déteste. Nourriture correcte mais pas appréciée à sa juste valeur dans une telle ambiance.

Lovely experience, super nice wait staff with a very chill atmosphere. Nice to not have to pick the food. The starter was amazing. The rest was decent but that comes with the lack of choice. Would recommend you speak Spanish or Valencian here

Recomendado llamar para reservar mesa - el sábado era un no parar. Algunas cosas a tener en cuenta: Tienes que registrarte como miembro de la asociación cultural, incluyendo nombre completo, dirección de correo electrónico y DNI. Solo efectivo. Es autoservicio: Te sirves el agua, coges los cubiertos, etc. El personal solo te trae los platos. Me atendió una chica argentina muy simpática, el servicio en general es bueno. También destacar mucha parafernalia peyorativa contra "TERFs", en general un tono bastante hostil si no estás de acuerdo con la teoría queer, pronombres, y demás. La comida en sí estaba normal. Se paga la voluntad consciente, yo dejé 15 euros.

A restaurant that has a poster that das friends not food. And another one that says "tourists go home". I was really looking forward to eat in a vegan restaurant but this attitude is ridiculous, not inclusive at all and as a long time vegan I'm very disappointed and have never experienced anything like this. Unfortunately I can't give zero stars, because that's what they should get.
