Amazing!!! - Edit
I live in the south and I keep an extremely busy calendar, but let me tell you something in my Jim Carey voice …. their fried “chicken” is amazing and has me studying my calendar for when I can pop into town and see a show at the Guthrie and stop by Herbie’s for some wonderful hospitality and guilty pleasure(s) of their fried “chicken”, mashed potatoes, and biscuits. A good time- as my best good friend can say. A GOOD TIME!!

Yummy but . . . - Edit
It’s like Tofurkey. I don’t know about you but I can usually only eat two or three slices of Tofurkey. It’s yummy but super heavy. I bought a 4-piece bucket and them pieces were BIG! Good but I could only eat ¾ of a piece plus it came w yummy Mac and cheese, baked beans, yummy but too salty tater tots, and disappointingly bland biscuits. High marks on Herbie house and BBQ sauces! Chocolate Shake was thick and creamy, but a bit sweet.

Good fried chick’n! - Edit
The fried chicken is wonderful. It’s tied for the best I’ve ever tried (along with temple of seitan). We got a big XL bucket to share for 5 of us and had a ton of leftovers.
Read morePros: Loved the fried chicken and biscuits with honey butter. All the sides are fun too - be sure to try a few.
Cons: The Mac and cheese was pretty bland and isn’t going to convert any non-vegans. My other complaint is that they have no ‘upgrade’ option for the other sides (fried pickles and jalapeños). Just charge me a little extra to upgrade please! Instead we had to double up on sides we already got with the meal anyway.
Pros: Amazing chicken, Biscuits and butter
Cons: No up-charge option for premium sides , Mac and cheese could use some add’l flavor

Amazing biscuits - Edit
Went to herbies for the first time and I am very impressed. I shared the small bucket with another person and it was a great amount of food (we both got leftovers). We got the dragon dust for a little spice and I recommend. The biscuits were our favorite out of everything.

Definitely Worth a Try! - Edit
Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, creamed corn, biscuits. . . Count me all the way in! Overall this was a big win. A couple of nit picky points…
Read more1) We ordered only with a specific pick up time. When we got there it was clear our order had been ready for a while. Everything was cold. Big bummer! :(
2) This food is salty as f*^k. I love salt but this was next level
I’d go back for sure but was saddened by the temp of the food this time.
Pros: Vegan Fried Chicken!!, Big portions, Reasonable pricing
Cons: Our food was cold - hopefully yours won’t be. , Salty mcSalty

Very good! - Edit
My meat-eater husband and I got a medium bucket with mac and cheese and Texas toast. We had about half of that leftover. My husband said the mac and cheese tasted eerily like that of KFC (I wasn't a fan). He kept forgetting he was eating vegan food. I agree with an earlier commenter that the chicken texture is similar to that of dark meat. They are definitely going for a KFC/Dairy Queen vibe, and it's a great cure for fast food nostalgia! It's a little hole in the wall space.

Game Changer! - Edit
This place is absolutely incredible. We got the small bucket (which was 2pc chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, tater tots, and a biscuit) and I couldn't finish it all in one sitting. We also got an order of fried pickles and a malt. Definitely worth the 6 hour drive.

Herbie’s Butcher - Edit
This restaurant is decent. Prices are reasonable and It’s all vegan which is nice. It gives me the feeling of that I can have a basket of fried chicken with sides. The service is friendly and fast. The chicken has a nice fried crunch and served in a bucket and it’s on top of tater tots. Just be aware you’re gunna be eating a lot of greasy food. I don’t like the mashed potatoes. The chicken tastes so so. The restaurant is small but there are four spots to sit at close by one another. It’s in a decent area and turtle bread is across the street. I wish they had coleslaw as a side. If you want a good greasy meal come here. My favorite is the biscuit with maple butter and I add my own honey. I can only eat here once in a blue moon as I don’t feel it’s very healthy food. I’ll give it a 6.5 out of 10. Prices are reasonable.

Bang for your buck! - Edit
I’ve loved everything I’ve ever eaten here. Chicken is so juicy, mashed potatoes are great, sauces are all homemade and yummy. Sometimes the Mac and cheese can be greasy vs creamy but that’s my only minor complaint. And a small bucket lasts me at least two, sometimes 3 meals and reheats awesome in the air fryer.

I enjoyed it - Edit
I was not expecting the food to be good, because most “ckick’n” that I eat isn’t good, mainly texture wise. But to my surprise it was really delicious. The biscuits were soft and fluffy, the mashed potatoes were really flavorful and I’m not a mashed potato type. I would def recommend and eat here again. And the shakes are amazing

The fried chicken buckets and sides are great, but I can’t remember the last time I ate here and didn’t get an upset stomach/very sick. I have no gluten intolerance or sensitivity, but everything is just pretty dense and greasy.

Don’t get me wrong, some of the options here are great. However, it’s very greasy as almost everything is deep fried. I’ve found that the bowls and sandwiches agree with my gallbladder better. Definitely worth a visit!

Not for me - Edit
Grateful for this awesome vegan option, but after trying it 5 times I’ve decided it’s just not for me. The chicken is too salty and dense. Great staff! Shakes are awesome! I just can’t do the chicken.

Thankful I live 400 miles away - Edit
Thankfully the distance to home will preclude me from visiting hourly and mashing my face full of biscuits and whatever dark magic was leveraged in making the fried chicken and causing me to gain back the last 45lbs and a few hundred more.

Texture A+, didn’t think vegan fried chicken could be done this well - Edit
The crispiness of the outside was impressive and well seasoned but the (seitan?) mixture for the chicken was even more impressive. Biting into it was reminiscent of biting into dark meat (though admittedly it’s been a few years). The cheese on the fried chicken sandwich and in the mac and cheese side were also not oddly sweet like some vegan cheeses. Oh and the maple butter for the biscuit was so good I think I made a small involuntarily noise of pleasure that I’m slightly embarrassed by.

Delicious - Edit
We ordered a carry out and wanted to try everything! We opted for a chicken sandwich with bacon and ranch, chicken strips, and a bucket. We tried the mac and cheese and the baked beans. The chicken was the best vegan chicken I’ve ever had, bar none. The breading is amazing. The mac and cheese was okay - a little dry, and the beans could have been a little saucier too, but the flavor was good. It’s a must-try place for fantastic food.

Heated up leftovers review - Edit
I've eaten here several times and have tried almost everything on the menu. It's been absolutely delicious each time, but that's when the food is served piping hot, and you eat it right away.
Read moreIf you live 30 minutes away like I do, the obvious question is, how does it taste if you pick up and wait to eat until you get home? In other words, you eat the food when it isn't piping hot anymore, and instead it's "medium hot". The answer: equally delicious!
What if you save some of your meal for next day leftovers? How does everything heat up and taste? The answer: pretty good!
(I found the microwave best for reheating mac & cheese and beans, and I found the oven best for reheating chicken, tots & biscuits. When doing this everything tasted great 24 hours later.)
Pros: Great tasting leftovers!
Cons: Almost impossible to save some for later

To die for - Edit
Their website says their mission is to “bridge the gap for omnivores”, and they’re doing a damn good job of it. The fried “chicken” tastes better than much of the real chicken I’ve had, and it has a wonderfully pleasant texture.
Read moreThe biscuit and tots it came with were more than just filler, they were flavorful on their own. And the Butcher Sauce was a wonderful cherry on top. I also tried the Banana Cream Pie “milk”-shake, and it was excellent. The staff are friendly and accommodating too.
The only downsides? I didn't see any veggies available as sides, and this would have been perfect with some collard greens. That, and limited seating in-restaurant.
I’m simultaneously sad and happy that I don’t live near here— sad that I won’t get to eat this again any time soon, and happy that my waistline won’t bear the consequences of that 😜
Pros: The fried chicken and sides it comes with, The shakes, Friendly staff
Cons: No veggies for sides, Limited seating
