Nice but expensive - Edit
This is probably the most expensive restaurant I've been to in Edinburgh. The food was nice, and probably worth the price, but I think I won't go there again because of the prices. They also added an optional tips to the bill which I thought was a bit sneaky.

Cheesecake for the stars ✨ - Edit
Ok, so I came here seeking vegan haggis, which I’d been too scared to try when I last visited as a teenager. However, the server convinced me to try their lunch special, which was a selection of salads and soups. And then I had to have this caramel cheesecake — I was initially suspicious (see my previous comments on vegan cheese), but the creaminess and sweetness was absolutely divine.

We had the most amazing dinner experience in Hendersons! Every dish is special and tastes sublime. The atmosphere is unequalled. Staff is kind and attentive. Highly highly recommend this place!

Good quality food that celebrates vegetables - Edit
The menu was very exciting. Lots of flavourful options that are not typical choices for a vegetarian/vegan eating out. As always I would love if they committed to selling only vegan food. Staff were very nice and welcoming. Great history being the first vegetarian restaurant in Scotland.

Disappointed - Edit
VERY EXPENSIVE. Myself and my partner ordered a starter, a main and a pudding to share and it was £95 which automatically included a 12.5 tip. Starters were ok but hummus had a funny taste and was overly spiced. We left half the mains as they weren't nice. I am happy to spend good money on good food but unfortunately this was not it. The staff were nice and they fussed my dog but ultimately you go for the food not the people.

Delicious flavours - Edit
We were here sampling some food for an event I'm organising, and very excited at what's to come! The haggis dish was absolutely delicious and so creamy, the tagine full of sweet and savoury flavours, and their salads are very creative and filling. I only gave a 4 as I personally don't give 5 stars to vegetarian restaurants on principle. It's a lovely atmosphere though so would go here over a more casual vegan place if a special occasion or looking for more fancy dishes.

Upscale Scottish dining! - Edit
I got an appetizer with mushroom stems - and holy heck, I dream about those mushrooms years later! The haggis neeps and tatties were fun, and the dessert was good. Pricy but yummy!

Impressed - setting a new bar for Edinburgh? - Edit
I had really good meal, and so did my date. Banana blossom for starter was out of this world - I even tried to order another one at the end of the meal instead of desert (kitchen had closed). Then for main I had a celeriac medley of wild mushroom, kale, and other stuff. My date had the polenta. Both really special. Both vegan. I heavily recommend. This is the first time I've been to the new Hendersons and I had been to all the old Henderson cafes/restaurants in Edinburgh many times and although I liked them all this is a step up. Not sure I can think of a better place to eat vegan in Edinburgh. Very impressed and will be back.

Nice food but not fantastic - Edit
The starter we had a nibbles board and that was all really tasty and I couldn’t fault it, however the mains were pretty average and the dessert was also average. It was nice but definitely nothing to scream about. The vibes were good.

Very welcoming and friendly staff, who looked after us after we were treated poorly at another place. Food was tasty, we just had a mix of starters and sides as we were in a bit of a hurry.
Read moreI had a hearty scotch broth and an orzo salad, my wife had a banana blossom pakora which was delicious and quite spicy. Our son polished off some excellent hummus and sourdough.
Would happily go back as we used to go to the old vegan Henderson's which is now closed.

Always enjoyable - Edit
Sometimes the mushrooms are magically cooked, sometimes the dishes aren’t quite as good as before and we leave less happy. Nevertheless, if friends come to visit this is where we’ll go as the service, drinks and dishes are generally good! There’s a fabulous non-alcoholic mixed drink from overseas but the name escapes me. Would recommend😄

Fantastic food - Edit
Really nice food and cocktails at Hendersons. Cauliflower wings starter were great and for mains we had butternut squash risotto which had crispy sage and sage pesto and also had the haggis dish which seems to be very popular for good reason. Both were really good as were the chips. A little on the pricey side but nice for a treat. Would love the whole place to be vegan but there were several options available.

Best vegan haggis yet - Edit
We booked as it is quite a popular restaurant. I was happy to see mocktails on the list. I’m not a non drinker but I find mocktails refreshing. I ordered the vegan haggis which I knew I was going to order before arriving! My partner ordered the curry. After a while they said the mains might take a while and did we want some complimentary nuts or olives. We declined, it was a nice space and we were happy to wait. The haggis was worth the wait. I loved the mash and the flavour was really good. My partners curry was a good serving size and the flavour was perfect. I wasn’t going to order dessert but the main was so good, I ordered a tiramisu while my partner ordered the brownie. Great service and a really nice restaurant. Just remember to look for the V for vegan dishes.

they have perfected hummus - Edit
This place is one of the nicer restaurants I’ve been to in Edinburgh, and you can tell based on the prices. I loved the atmosphere of this place though and definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a romantic candlelit dinner. The staff were excellent and super friendly, which is always a plus, and the food overall is pretty solid. I would say that in general everything is a little overpriced considering the portion size that you get so I couldn’t give this place the full five stars, but the absolute standout on the menu was the hummus appetizer. That hummus was so good that it reminded me why people still believe heaven exists; I think I could eat it until I died from overconsumption like that guy from Se7en. Unfortunately, it seems they have a rotating menu, so you may not be able to get this soul-mending hummus at any time, but definitely keep an eye out for it and you may get lucky.

Lovely fresh options - Edit
This was the last place I ate in Scotland before my trip ended. I had been eating a lot of yummy but unhealthy food all trip so it was great to have some healthy-ish and fresh options. I had their salad plate (combo of four salads) each one unique and delicious.
Read moreStaff was very friendly and informed about veganism. They asked at beginning for any allergens and when I said I was vegan they made sure to bring vegan butter for the starter and everything.
Chill atmosphere in a cool neighborhood.
Pros: Most options are vegan, Friendly staff, Yummy food
Cons: Not entirely vegan
