Das Restaurant ist sehr gemütlich und das Personal super freundlich. Leider hat das Maisschnitzel sehr fad und mehlig geschmeckt. Die Bratkartoffeln hingegen waren gut.

From the outside, you would expect some brewery-style location, but the Heimwerk is indeed spacious, modern, and really nicely furnished. You should make a reservation even during the week as it gets quite busy. The menu has a couple of vegan options. What I really like: the dishes are available in two sizes, and there are even vegan desserts and oat milk for your coffee.

The celeriac schnitzel I liked much better, the potato salad, however, was my favourite choice😄Finally, don't forget the Kaiserschmarrn (the snack portion was absolutely sufficient even for sharing).

HeimWerk is a super restaurant to go out to eat with vegans and non-vegans. The Sellerie Schnitzel and the Kaiserschmarren were very delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very relaxed.

Maybe we just picked a bad day? - Edit
We went here today for lunch and were really excited about all the different vegan options! Ingredients are sourced locally and it all sounded great on paper.

The fries and the truffle mayo were amazing but we did not expect that the schnitzel does not even come with any decorative salad leaves that might have evened out the dryness.
The meals of our vegetarian and meat-eating friends looked really good though and there is a good lunch deal, but it sadly was not available in vegan but only for a meat and vegetarian option.
A friend who visits here often was also surprised by how long it took to get our orders today. Also they were out of burger buns, so maybe we just picked a bad day.
I am still very curious about the vegan Kaiserschmarrn though and will probably come back another day to give it another chance.

Our Corn Schnitzel is mixed fresh every day + handmade, which sometimes can lead to differing in texture, depending on how thick the cook forms it that day. The lemon slice on top is also meant to give it a bit of extra juicyness.
If you want to give us another chance: we have two new vegan specials - our beetroot Schnitzel and a celery salad.

Great vegan options - At the front of the menu too! - Edit
Really great vegan versions of Schnitzel and other German traditional favorites. They also let you order "snack" portions, so you can try a lot of different menu items. There are actually enough vegan menu items, that it would take a really big appetite or a big group to try the whole vegan menu.

Great options and sustainable approach! - Edit
Although this is not a vegan restaurant, they seem to be focused on good ingredients and sustainability. They try to avoid food waste by having a smaller and bigger size for every meal which I liked. The vegan/vegetarian options are listed first on the menu! There are two vegan Schnitzel options and a few vegetarian ones. In addition, there are multiple vegan side dishes and most sauces are vegan. I had the Mais Schnitzel with fried potatoes and it was both really good! I also ordered a small portion of vegan Kaiserschmarrn as a dessert. Perfect place to come to with omni friends or family who don‘t want to settle for a 100% vegan restaurant.

Perfekt wenn man als Veganer mit Freunden unterwegs ist die man nicht in ein veganes/vegetarisches Restaurant schleppen möchte. Es gibt einige Veganer Optionen, alle sehr lecker!
