The service was great, English menu was also available. There were a lot of vegetarian options and one vegan option, a vegan cheese dumpling with red cabbage. The portion size was average.

A lovely restaurant, but limited vegan options - Edit
Visiting with friends, we had a great time, but I was told that the Gasthaus Hinterbrühl weren’t stocking the vegan schnitzel (it was too late in the year or something?). I recommend checking with them before you sit down to avoid disappointment.

The waiter was incredibly friendly and helpful. We ordered vegan schnitzel with potato salad and it was absolutely amazing! Made my day. I'd rate the schnitzel 4/5 because the texture wasn't perfect, but it was still very good! The potato salad was just stellar, we ordered 2 more portions of it. The best potato salad of my life. The tap beer was also delicious, it was obvious that they keep their tap well-cleaned and fresh. I'd definitely visit again, can't wait to return to Salzburg just for this!

Amazing vegan schnitzel, potato salad and wonderful wine recommendations. My husband loved the non-vegan schnitzel, too (he said it’s the best he’s ever had). It’s so nice to be able to try traditional dishes while vegan!

We were looking for something traditional after we had an ayurvedic breakfast! And this was exactly the right place! Nice Wirtshaus with waiters and waitresses in dirndl and lederhosen. Ordered the schnitzel with fries and potato salad. Yes: they had just this one vegan option - but that’s all we needed. Just Wonderful!

Vegan schnitzel - Edit
We've been looking for vegan schnitzel and found it here. Unfortunately my apple allergy kept me from being able to eat it as it's marinated in apple. My husband said it was very good and he really enjoyed the vegan potolato salad. I had fettuccine noodles with mushrooms. They offered to leave off the sauce to take it from vegetarian to vegan. Very friendly staff.
