Pretty good pizza - Edit
It is nice to find deep dish vegan pizza! The crust was great and they had lots of cool pizza flavors. I thought the Italian meat crumbles could have used some more flavor, and the cheese was ok.

Gross burnt nuggets - Edit
We got the Strings of Nashville pizza and were sorely disappointed. The chicken, rather than the shredded meat shown on the menu, was just premade nuggets. There was no noticeable Nashville seasoning. What’s worse, the whole pizza—but especially the nuggets, which were quite tall—was badly burnt. Most of the nuggets were actually inedible. A real shame, after having had many great pizzas here.

They Can Do Better - Edit
Great to have Detroit style pizza. The dough was as good as advertised. The plant based chicken was not. It was deep fried just wrong. Why write up your description of your dough like a slow food epic and then serve that unworthy frankenfood?

So yummy! - Edit
I was craving pizza that had more protein than cheese and the super friendly gentleman suggested Head of Collision. It contained mozzarella, sausage, pepperoni, red sauce, basil. The taste was extremely good 😋!

The mozzarella sticks are a must! - Edit
Stopped in for some pizza and wings and added on the mozzarella sticks, best decision ever. They are amazing and should be sold in stores. The Viktor Vaughn pizza with the charred kale and pesto atop the sourdough Detroit style crust is a show stopper.

Great, though greasy - Edit
This pizza is delicious and definitely worth checking out. My only note is that it is very heavy, but that also means lots of leftovers!

"I think this cured my depression" - my gf. She also said this is potentially the best pizza she has ever had, and i'd have to agree. It's so cheesy and decadent.

Show me a better PNW vegan spot, I’ll wait. - Edit
Consistently, hands-down without a doubt the best 100% vegan restaurant on the west coast. The jimmy pesto, head on collision, bianca, viktor vaughn, strings of nashville, unfamiliar sun are all super. I can’t get enough of the BBQ drumsticks. Friendly cooks and cashiers. I love getting the text that “it’s pizza time”!

Unbelievably Good - Edit
Boxcar Pizza has deeply impressed me with their quality of vegan pizza. Somehow they have cracked the code of vegan pizza that leaves you with 0 FOMO. Genuinely the best pizza I’ve had in my life ~ (that just happens to be vegan!)

Genuinely unreal. The pizza was incredible, I’ve never had vegan pizza anywhere near this good (or non-vegan honestly) in my life. 10/10!!! You cannot go wrong with any flavor!

Phenomenal - Edit
Vegan gluten-free pizza is usually cardboard topped with glue. But Boxcar is INCREDIBLE. The textures and flavors, and somehow they get that melty-cheese thing going on. Their house-made wings are next-level, too. Really they are miracle workers. Their food let me forget for a moment I had dietary restrictions and just enjoy a delicious meal.

Pros: Gluten-free crust is soft and chewy, Pizza variety is great, and flavors are fresh, Non-pizza stuff like salads and wings great too

This is the one. I'm glad I discovered this place and didn't waste my time eating inferior vegan pizza.

not for me - Edit
I usually like a simple cheese pizza and tried a menu option that seemed closest to that. Found the cheese flavors unpleasant (one was overwhelmingly tangy, another was flavorless). The dough was alright, but Detroit style may just not be my thing. I didn't even finish my half of the pizza because it started feeling like a project.

Never heard of Detroit style pizza before and usually vegan pizza is rough. Who knew a Egan pizza joint could be a rockstar. Don’t take my word for it. This place is it! Just a heads up to get some heartburn medicine ahead of time even if you never have issues! This food is heavy but can’t wait to visit again!

Wanted to Like It More - Edit
We had high hopes for Boxcar Pizza but unfortunately we were not overly happy with the meal. In their defense, we did order pizzas and take them to the coast for sunset dinner so we didn’t eat them until about 1.5 hours later, but I’m not sure it would have made us enjoy the pizza too much more. We ordered the mozzarella sticks and bbq wings for an appetizer. The mozzarella sticks were Buddy’s which we have had before and had just eaten the night before from Black Water. They just were not cooked well - the outside was a little too well done and crispy. We also ate these on the drive over so they weren’t sitting at all. The bbq wings also didn’t have the best flavor. For pizza we ordered the Ape Dos Mil and the Four Minute Mile. We didn’t love either pie and the olives on the Four Minute Mile had a terrible flavor. We were super excited about the meal and were left disappointed.

Best Detroit Pizza in PDX - Edit
Been coming to this place since they first open. They make some of the best Detroit style pizza in pdx. The flavors are amazing! Got some cheese bread, buffalo wings (forgot to take a picture), and a jalapeño and pepperoni pizza. If you’ve never had Detroit pizza try this place out or if you’ve just like delicious pizza go check this place out!

Blown away - Edit
To be honest I wasn’t expecting much, too many disappointing vegan pizzas in the past but DAMN! This was delicious, different and just what I wanted. Having a variety of, a real variety, of choices was almost too much for me. We got 2 and then wished we’d gotten more. It was just as tasty the next day, cold while visiting a remote area of ONP.

The BEST Pizza in Portland - Edit
Love this place, been eating here since they opened. The pizza is fantastic, covered in toppings with amazing crispy cheese edges. I have tried everything at least twice but I get my favorites regularly. There are rotating special pizzas which are a really good alternative to the same thing every week.

A marvel - Edit
I still can’t believe it was vegan cheese. The crispy, crunchy edges of this pizza were miraculous. I’m from Detroit and though it’s definitely more artisanal than the pizza of my youth it’s a brilliant update. My husband had the gluten free crust and I think he might have cried a bit with joy.
