Good pizza, but not the best - Edit
They do Detroit-style dough very well and I give them credit for it, the dough is quite spongey and nice but the pizza is more like cheesy bread. If it's your fav kind of pizza I'm sure you'll love it but for me I wish they had more topping options and that they put more toppings on the pizza - it was mostly just dough and cheese. Super nice people but just not my fav
Read morePros: all vegan , dough is nice, good vibes
Cons: not lots of toppings, expensive if you want a full meal, skimpy with toppings

BEST PIZZA EVER - Edit
Never had Detroit style pizza before and this was such a treat! The dough is so pillowy yet so crispy. Loved their creative pizza options and also super stoked they had wings as well. Tried the sriracha lime wings, steaky breaky heart pizza, and Nashville hot pizza. Seriously such good flavors and toppings. Also tried the blue cheese and ranch dressing and both were bomb. I highly highly recommend this place as it's such a cute atmosphere and also has a bar right around the corner.

Great pizza - Edit
I had never had Detroit style pizza before, so I didn't know what to expect. We had a pizza and the vegan wings (bbq). Both very tasty and a great outdoor seating area.

Love this Detroit style magic - Edit
I don’t know much but what I do know is that this pizza is magic. I had the daily special, The Thrillhouse, the Bianca, some Buffalo wangs, and the bacon jalapeño cheesy bread and every single bite was amazing.
Read moreThe Thrillhouse had „steak„ and French fries with a pesto drizzle and the Bianca was a classic white pizza with sausage. The „ricotta„ on the Bianca was a party for my mouth.
The wangs and cheese bread both came with some thick and flavorful ranch.
Top notch and kind service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We sat on the covered patio that’s shared with a ramen shop, a taco joint, chicken spot, and a bar. Everyone who walked past our lil table asked “dang where the hell y’all get that pizza from? Is it as good as it looks?”
The answer is an enthusiastic “YUP!”
We wanted to try the kale salad but they were out of kale😡
Pros: 100% vegan , Spacious patio w good mix of sun and shade , Great service
Cons: No kale but it’s ok , Kinda expensive until you taste it and…, …you realize it’s totally worth it.

🎶 I've been waiting for a good day. I've been holding back long enough. I've been hurting to tell you some things...
Read moreThis place has amazing crust and is a perfect Detroit Style. 11/10 crust. We had Jalapeno Bacon Cheesy Bread and a pizza you will have to have excellent taste in music 🎵 to get 😉.
🎶 I think I've held this long enough. I think it's safe to tell you some things. It's not just what you say to people and it's not the way you look at me It's the way you present yourself for all your worst critics to see.
The drumsticks look and taste great. Had the spicy vampire killer sauce -- looked and tasted like a habanero mash based sauce. Delicious 😋
The red sauce was a bit too salty, it could have ruined lesser pizza, but everything else about this one made it tolerable. The sausage is also really strongly flavored. Probably could use a little less fennel. This stuff takes it down a notch from a 5 but if I could give it a 4.5 I probably would.
Looking forward to the leftovers tomorrow, we'd definitely order it any time we're back.

Amazing pizza - Edit
The pizza here is so good. It’s easily one of my favorite pizza places to date. We had the head on collision and cheeseburger pizza and they were both amazing, although the head on collision was my fav of the two.

Good pizza - Edit
We really enjoyed the Detroit-style pizza. The crust is excellent.
Read moreWe also got the vegan kale caesar salad, which was pretty bad. I don't know why restaurants think they can get away with just chopping up raw curly kale and calling it a salad. Unless it's baby kale, kale needs to be marinated or massaged. Otherwise it's just too tough.
Pros: Very good pizza
Cons: Poor kale caesar, Venue has no atmosphere--better to take out

Came here for a slice, would come back for several whole pies - Edit
Came in for a couple slices for lunch. Two slices would be a generous meal for one person! Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, the crust is perfectly caramelized it’s amazing. The best vegan cheese I’ve ever had.

YUMMM - Edit
One of the best vegan pizza places I've been too! I love how thick the pizza was~ A very thick boi indeed. And the olives they used on it was scrumptious and don't even get me started on that cheese. 🤤
Read moreMy only complaint really was about the red sauce being on top. I mean it was yummy. A unique choice. But I've never had a pizza like that and it was really messy to eat. And when taking leftovers home it got everywhere on the box.
But other than that YUM😋

Best Vegan Pizza in PDX - Edit
If I must elaborate - Boxcar is definitely the best place to get some vegan pizza in PDX! Their inventive pizzas are always a treat and never disappoint. A couple of favorites are the Bianca and Strings of Nashville. And a true seasonal gem is their Mock Gobbler. But seriously…you can pick any pizza here, and you won’t be disappointed!

Deep Dish Delight - Edit
We ordered a Bianca (mozzarella, ricotta, sausage, sliced garlic, fresh basil, grated parmesan, sea salt, and red pepper flakes) and a Head On Collision (mozzarella, red Sauce, sausage, pepperoni, and fresh basil). The pies are somewhat small, but they're so thick and "heavy" that they could last two meals. Both pies were very greasy, so I assume the rest are as well.

Vegan Cheesy Bread - Edit
Most pizza places I’ve tried had vegan pizza but not vegan cheesy bread. This was everything 💯 both of our favorites. We also preferred the jackfruit pizza with cilantro sauce that was definitely not something you find everyday. My husband ordered the Vampire wings that were pretty good too.

Deep Dish Delight - Edit
I’ll be honest, I’ve only ever ordered the Bianca—but I order it a LOT! The crispy cheesy crust, the gooey cheese that drips off the pizza as you eat it, and the tasty crumbles… mmm! It is worth every penny. It took me a long time to find out that Boxcar was a vegan pizza place and now that I know I am making up for all the time I missed out!

How is this vegan?!? - Edit
We ordered the bianca pizza and BBQ wings from boxcar and HOLY COW. All the memories of childhood pizza places rushing back, made me want to play arcade games with greasy fingers! And the wings?? Just wow. My partner for the first time in 5 years had to ask if they were vegan. Texture taste 100%. Absolutely recommend.

Awesome pies! - Edit
Found out their pizza cart Baby Blue had closed up shop so we came here instead. The pizza here is a completely different style. It's rectangular in shape. The crust is thick but soft and light and has a good crunch on the bottom and sides. It was hard to pick just one out of so many options but we settled on the animal lover, which we really enjoyed. We also wanted to try the pizza week special so we got a couple slices of that as well.
Read moreI had to knock a star off though because of the interaction with the employee who took our order. He seemed impatient and couldn't be bothered to tell us about the Portland pizza week special that they were doing. He just said it was too complicated to get into and steered us toward the regular menu. Turned out it couldn't be simpler. All he would've had to say was "we have a pizza week special that comes by the slice at $3 each and everything else is sold by the whole pie." How hard was that?
Pros: great food, lots of options
Cons: staff a little cold

Amazing pizza - Edit
Really cool little vegan pizza joint with a shared food court with outdoor seating shared with a few other businesses. We had the steaky breaky heart pizza and it’s one of the best pizza i ever had. With a side of Sriracha, Lime and Cilantro wings. The portion was just nice for 2. Great experience with a pint of craft beer from Paydirt next door.
