Satisfaction, Bread Ahead - Edit
My stop here was merely meant to be a brief interlude, a logical stopping point at which to grab something edible before continuing my trudge around the mall. Instead, I was treated to a veritable conveyor belt of excellence that surprised and delighted me in equal measure.
Read moreIt would be remiss of me to not start with the bread, being as it is the foundation upon which this place is built. As such -and as you might well expect- it was glorious. Both the complimentary basket of assorted artisanal offerings,and the additional traditional olive loaf that just could not ignore, were sensational; the freshness was undeniable, the textures unbelievable, and flavours unfettered.
But believe it or not, the best was yet to come. Plant-based pancakes can be a divisive option. Some places butcher their preparation entirely, and some muddle through to present a passable facsimile of the joyous treat they are aiming to recreate. Then there are those that just get: this place firmly fell in the latter. From the first, magical bite to the all-too-soon-to come last, I was genuinely spellbound by how irresistible they were.
Clearly, these pancakes were the zenith of what proved to be an incredible meal, but there was another cracker of a dish that it would by a travesty not to give its due plaudits: the mango avocado rolls. Far from the mediocre filler I expected them to be, they were lively, fresh, and surprisingly layered in flavour, with just enough sweetness and zing to keep things interesting.
With such a ringing endorsement, you can be sure that I’ll be returning here. In my estimation, is it now not just a place to dip into when I happen to be passing, but a destination worth travelling for specifically.
