Even though I am no stranger to this impressive outfit, this was actually my first time sampling their wares in person rather than via delivery—the difference was marked. Though it would be foolish to think food that has travelled would have the same standard as that consumed directly at the source, I was genuinely taken aback by how superior it was here.
Read moreThis isn’t to say that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed all my prior orders; it’s just that the crisp freshness added a vibrancy that the slightly sweaty forebears couldn’t hope to match. From the glorious traditional falafel to the succulent stuffed variety and from the hearty lentil soup to the impressive fries, it was as if the quality of everything had been dialled up a notch or two.
Nowhere was this more evident than when it came to the sandwiches. Rather than being slightly sodden and therefore structurally compromised (though still delicious) affairs, both this time were stellar in all regards. Each of them was fabulous in their own right, giving as they did a range of unique flavours and textures, and choosing a clear favourite would be a fruitless task.
The only negative I can muster from this meal is that it may now have forever sullied the notion of ordering takeaway from this chain. However, given the enjoyment I derived from this experience, I’m more than happy to get out and travel to get a repeat fix.
