Beautiful restaurant - Edit
The interior of this restaurant was gorgeous, and the food & sangria equally wonderful. It was difficult to decide what we wanted as there was so much that sounded great - I eventually chose the ravioli and was not disappointed, although I did feel that my portion was tiny for the amount that it cost.

Great food - Edit
I loved everything, I was with a person that doesn’t eat vegetarian or vegan dishes and even my company loved it. Since starter to desert. They make a great job. The service is very attentive also. To come back more times.

High quality and creative dishes - Edit
This place offers a variety of creative dishes, among them some reinterpretations of traditional Portuguese dishes. We had the Francesinha and Tofu à lagareiro. The first one was amazing, the latter one was also good. Bacalhau à lagareiro used to be my favourite fish dish back in the days. Interestingly, the tofu part of the alternative was really nice, but the garlic part did not convince me. Usually, the fish is braised with plenty of garlic until the garlic becomes really soft and sweet, they however added not so much garlic, and it was fried to a rather crispy consistency. Ohh, on the other side, the reinterpretation of the octopus salad is just amazing, I can only recommend it.

Recommend! - Edit
Great experience. We would have given 5 stars but the francescinha sauce was a bit bland, and my parsnip meal needed a crunchy texture to balance. Lovely and tasty and everyone was friendly ☺️ definitely recommend, fine dining experience

The food is well served and there is a nice attention for details. We took the fish soup and the seitan steak: the taste was really good. Also desserts were nice.

Tasty - Edit
Nice place, very pretty inside and the food was tasty but not the best thing I’ve ever eaten & the prices were quite high for Lisbon. Love that they had so many vegan options, especially of Portuguese dishes.
Read moreThe waiting staff weren’t very warm/ friendly and when we were waiting for a table they really made it seem like they were chatting [censored] about us and didn’t want us there.

Nice to look at - Edit
Great service, nice food. We had one of the best burgers and also the starter and the dessert was so tasty. I can recommend the crême brulée. A bit hard to find. There are some stairs you need to go down. There's a really tiny sign with the name of the restaurant. Small amount of criticism: some dishes are not really creative, you have a vegan substitute like Tofu or seitan "meat" and a bit of decorative veggies around. If I'm being hard on that, I would say it's fast food on a really really high level.

Lovely vegan restaurant - be sure to book in advance - Edit
We came to AO26 for dinner one evening during our week long stay in Lisbon and absolutely loved it. It's a lovely restaurant that somehow manages to feel quite posh and quite relaxed at the same time.
Read moreThe menu is 100% vegan and everything sounded fantastic. It really was hard to choose! We shared the Portuguese appetisers board to start. It was very good and came with an interesting range of dishes served in tiny pots together with some nice bread. I then went for the tempeh dish as a main. This came with parsnip puree & crisps and was garnished with glazed pineapple and avocado puree. It was delicious. My wife had the homemade seitan steak with mustard seed sauce and she was equally impressed. The chocolate mousse for pudding was also very good! Service was also excellent.
The bill came to €57 for the two of us including one glass of wine and an espresso. Good value given the quality of what is on offer.
Make sure you book a table a day or two in advance - it's a popular place and gets full.
Pros: 100% vegan, Great menu, Delicious food

One of the best in Lisbon - Edit
Ao26 is one of the best vegan restaurants in Lisbon. It is a great place to go with non-vegan/vegetarian friends. It has traditional portuguese dishes made vegan. The place is really nice and well designed, although people are seated very close to the other tables. I can't recommend a specific dish as all of them are great and it depends on what one feels like having that day.

5* - Probably the best in Lisbon - Edit
Wow.. I really thought I had already reviewed Ao26.. I'm definitely awful at this and keeping up with the reviews.
Read moreWell, I cannot count the times I've been there since it opened, I remember going there on the first week, quite some years ago and I perfectly even remember that it was the "Santos Populares" period and the restaurant was quite busy (and also a bit disorganized, but that's perfectly understandable for a new restaurant).
The progress was enormous throughout the years and it was actually fast to become a Lisbon staple: you cannot say you know the Lisbon Vegan restaurant scene if you haven't been to Ao 26 as it's definitely one of the protagonists.
They also do Take-Away, so I will eventually find many pictures of their food, both from live and take-away meals (last visit was exactly 1 week ago).
In recent months the restaurant also moved to a new, nicer and larger venue (even though the last one was also really nice) and keeps an open kitchen approach where you can see the food being prepared.
As for the food, it's great! Throughout the years it had ups and downs but always on a very high rating, you will not be disappointed. The price/quality/quantity ratio is also quite good and fair on most dishes, with a couple exceptions in the last few years that are slightly overpriced for what is delivered.
Wine & beer selection is limited but also nice and good enough for this type of meal.
All in all, I would have to say this is still probably my favorite Vegan restaurant in Lisbon.

Not as good as I expected it to be - Edit
I was really excited to eat here, but was a little disappointed. The quality of the food was mixed; the ravioli was chewy and one dish consisted primarily of tempeh. I really did like the atmosphere, the plating, the chorizo that was part of the starter, and the dessert (chocolate peanut pie)

It's a lovely place with the best vegan food in Lisbon that I've had so far 😋 I'm a vegan for a really long time and I hate it in every vacations that I can't eat the traditional cuisine. Ao 26 changed it for me 🥰
