Organic vegan restaurant opened 2013 replacing the previous restaurant Nova. Meals are based on macrobiotic principles with vegetables sourced from its own farm as well as other local producers. Example of dishes: quinoa salad, bbq seitan cordon bleu, penna pasta, falafel, and baked tofu. Smoothies, tea, coffee, ice cream, cakes and other desserts available. English is spoken and on the menu. Offers two rooms of seating. Open Mon-Sat 12:00-23:00. Kitchen open 12-9pm. Closed Sun.

We heard a lot about Zrno bio bistro so we were really excited to try it. We were not disappointed at all, it was delicious! The choice is incredible for vegans, we had a hard time deciding what to eat since everything looked so good. Finally, we had the garden burger and the soba noodles and we even treated ourselves with our or their piece of cake... A must try while in Zagreb!

Awesome Menu - Edit
I had dinner at Zrno Bio Bistro with my daughter. What a treat to eat food that comes from farm to plate during the same day. The food was fresh, delicious and the service was awesome! I loved the fact that the food seasoning is minimal and that they bring the salt, oils, etc. to your table that you can add to taste. In my case I was happy with no seasoning as the food tasted delicious without.

Best vegan restaurant in Zagreb and probably Croatia. All of the dishes are vegan, local and organic (except seaweed). Food was absolutely awesome and desserts are one of the best we've tried. Prices are good given the quality of the food and everything being organic

The waitress was a delight. All of their ingredients are locally grown and as such, taste amazing. The waitress was all alone, yet managed to serve everyone (all the tables were taken) on time with a great attitude. She told us about what options we had left.

Really enjoyed the, Mega Protein Plate. The tofu, seitan and tempeh were all excellent in texture and taste. The sauce was good too. It was served with steamed spinach and steamed sweet potato which complimented the tofu really well. The spinach was tasty and the sweet potato (not my favourite veggie) was unusual, in that it was not as soft as usually served, but I thought it went well with the meal. The service was very good. The prices a little bit high but worth it. I had a couple of glasses of wine, one Merlot and one Pinot noir. Both were quite expensive but excellent. Therefore good value.

Very nice place. Breaded tofu was excellent. Veil farm girl dessert not so good. Service unfortunately was terrible. I had to go find menus for my party then it took 30min before anyone acknowledged us. I’m hoping they were just short staffed and this isn’t how the service always is. When we finally ordered we ordered everything from drinks to dessert because we were unsure of when we would see our waitress again. Dessert came out first by a different waiter it was sitting on our table then the waitress said she would put it in the fridge. Then while holding the dessert she took another tables order then gave a different table our dessert she was holding.

One of the worst vegan experience - Edit
We went there during our one day stay in Zagreb. The recommendations on happy cow were amazing so we were expecting something really good... but we didn’t get it. We order a lot. Firstly breaded tofu - the breading was sooo dry, and the tamari dressing was inedible (too much salt) so I ordered another dressing (tahini this time), the waitress firstly forgot about my order and then when I almost finished my meal she brought something...... that tasted so bad, really really bad. I have no idea what was in it, but I’m a vegan blogger I create recipes and I have experience with tahini, I use it in my kitchen all the time. This dressing was even worst than tamari (this inedible if you remember). Additionally the waitress was not really happy with her job, I haven’t met this kind of unpleasant to talk to person in a really long time. Back to the food - udon noodles with miso - this was not salty at all (I think that all the salt went to my tamari dressing), so with no flavor. The protein plate was the only one I would call “fine”, but it came with boiled sweet potato that was still hard and a bit raw... and the side salad that is the same to every meal? Don’t want to comment on this kind of practices but it wasn’t tasty too. We orders some siders - sweet potato fries (fine but with no dressing) and wok vegetables (too salty and a bit burned). I didn’t like the food, the waitress and the fact that it is allowed to smoke in the garden, so you eat organic food and smell some cigarettes... I don’t recommend going there, sorry guys. The idea of organic, vegan place is really lovely, but I really don’t want to come back to this place and wouldn’t want any of my friend to visit them too.

Me and a friend had a Warm Kayu Sandwich and Garden Burger. Both were excellent. Nice environment, friendly service. With drinks (smoothie and tea), the total was 100 kn each, which is way fine for a really nice meal.

The food is lovely and the staff are very friendly. I had a bean chilli and my boyfriend had a sandwich with chips. Both were gorgeous. For Zagreb it’s not super cheap but it’s still very good value in comparison to a lot of other places. Would definitely recommend!

Zrno Bio Bistro is so comfy! The food is so flavorful, the portions are just the right size and the meals themselves are very unique. The food is prepared to remind us vegs the texture of those non-veg meals like meat and grilled cheese we had before ditching animal products. I mean this in an absolute postive way - it’s so tasty: the salads, side dishes, desserts.

Came here today for a nice meal. The restaurant is very inviting, great staff and delicious food. Ordered the soup of the day - beetroot,and the seitan cordon bleu. Both were very nice. The soup just needed a bit of salt - personal preference.

We were so excited to come here but think we had high expectations after the reviews on here. I had the seitan cordon bleu which was nice but quite bland. My boyfriend had the vegetable sandwich which was nicer but his also was slightly bland. I think the menu ideas are great but some seasoning wouldn't go a miss.

This was a treat to visit. The food was beautiful. My husband and I started with their soup of the day (cucumber and potato), followed by our mains (hubby had the seitan cordon bleu and I had the macroplate). Both were delicious. We ended with a latte. Organic, fully vegan and scrummy!

2.5 of us vegans plus a carni came for lunch in our day in Zagreb. Myself and my carni friend both work out so capitalised on the mega protein dish and were both a happy to try the tempeh, tofu and seitan with BBQ. They were cooked and seasoned well so even my friend was happy with it. Cake with ice cream after and a smoothie each. Reasonable price, really nice place set back from the road.

Lovely atmosphere, very kind and helpful staff, and the food is just amazing! You can tell that a lot of thought and effort goes into each dish they prepare. All the dishes are 100% organic with most their ingredients coming from their own local organic farm! Everything we ordered was simply amazing I can't say enough about it! After we ate we feel full, nourished, and content! Go here if you are in Zagreb and looking for delicious healthy vegan food!
