Very tasty, international cuisine. It's cheap, fast and you have a lot of vegan options. It's very well located in the center of the city. I like the atmosphere but every time I've been there the staff was just rude😒

In Zloty Osiol you can try the original, awesome food that you can't taste in the other places. It has a really unique climate, and is very cheap, too 🙂

Good food! But we were forced to take away, because it was so crowdy. There was a big queue in front of the cashier desk/ buffet and therefore quiet chaotic in front of the cashier where the saladbar is also there. Nonetheless, the food is good.

Really cosy atmosphere. Very busy on a Sunday afternoon so may have to wait for a table. They ran out of a lot of food but have great vegan options nearly half the menu! Right in the heart of Katowice. Recommended

Bardzo duży wybór dań wegańskich i wegetariańskich. Przygotowane są wcześniej i przed podaniem zostają jedynie podgrzane, ale mimo tego są smaczne i czas oczekiwania jest bardzo krótki. Do tego ceny są bardzo przystępne.

This is a nice, relaxed restaurant with a good variety of vegetarian and vegan options. The menu is in Polish but the staff speak English and were able to answer questions.

Overall I like this place, but ever since i went vegan it got harder to choose something there because most of their options contain dairy of some sort. Also i feel like sometimes some of their flavour combinations might be a little hit-or-miss.

We showed up a few minutes before the place opened and some customers were already there. The buffet opened at 12 and the place got packed straight away.

The vegeterian spinach lasagna was very good as well as the vegan ratatouille, but needed a bit of salt.

I had been living in Katowice for 25 years before I moved out abroad and in the meantime managed to eat in multiple vegetarian places in different parts of the world but I'm still in love with the Zloty Osiol bar. I love their tartas and quiche (spinach one is my favorite). Once in a while I also try their other options and it's always a blast. Huge plus for the salad bar in which you take what you want and how much you want. The prices increased a lot last years but honestly, it's normal and I prefer to pay for quality. The prices are anyways still really good especially if you consider the size of the portions. If you are in Katowice, Check it out!

To pierwsza wegetariańska knajpa na mapie Katowic i Śląska. Śledzę jej rozwój od co najmniej kilkunastu lat. Bardzo duży wybór różnego rodzaju zapiekanek, tart itp. W ostatnim czasie coraz więcej dań wegańskich. Z racji ogromnego wyboru każdy powinien odnaleźć swoje smaki. Porcje bardzo duże, a ceny niezwykle atrakcyjne. Co pewien czas pojawiają się nowe propozycje. Złoty Osioł to miejsce wręcz kultowe i z tego powodu są dni i godziny, że miejsc brakuje i kolejka długa. Można kupować na wynos. Na minus: trochę już wysłużone wnętrze i przydałby się co najmniej lifting.

Read moreI'm a foodie myself, but must admit that this place is great for a bigger appetite. All of the warming, well-seasoned food simply makes you happy and satisfied.
My favourite dishes so far were a spicy sweet potato goulash with beans and eggplant and moussaka with vegan cheese. There have been dishes that I didn't enjoy as much but it happens and there really is a variety of Indian, Asian and Mexican vegetarian and vegan dishes anyway, so it's hard not to find something really delicious.
Also, I don't agree with opinions about the staff which seriously has always been very helpful and sweet, but considering the fact how popular and overcrowded this place can be, I can imagine that it's not that hard for them to be just tired... (remember that the staff members are people too and working with customers isn't always the easiest job)
Pros: filling, well-seasoned cuisine at low cost, potatoes with peanut butter, interesting, oriental decor and music
Cons: a bit overcrowded, in the summer it can be too hot

Byliśmy w Katowicach przejazdem i decydowaliśmy się na "Złotego osła" ze względu na nazwę (Apulejusz). To był strzał w 10! Przyszliśmy około 20 i udało nam się dostać jeszcze 3 wegańskie potrawy - każda z nich była pyszna. Jeśli jakiś wege Katowiczanin nie był jeszcze w "Złotym ośle", to grzeszy. Ja jestem zachwycona.

I simply love Zloty Osiol! They prepare the best dishes ever. Really, the food is awesome. If you go there frequently you may get bored about the vegan food they offer (obviously there are more vegetarian dishes) and also the staff is a bit lost since there are many people coming and also it is changed frequently. Anyways, it is worth going there because the food is really delicious!

One of the best veggie places I visited. Food is cooked and baked each day differently. Portions are big and the combinations of tastes are exceptionally good. The restaurant has very chill out atmosphere.

Read moreI almost lose it because the map didn't show me a right place. But it's just on the other side of the building, which is marked as "Mariacka 1". So don't give up and keep eyes open! It's really close to the city center and a railway station, what is perfect. There is wifi, you can pay by card, service is talking English so they will show you and explain what is vegan and what is vegetarian. Beside main dishes you can take some fruit or vegetable salads. Portions are big, food is tasty, prices are good. So everything is just perfect. But not only this. Also decorations, music, everything create such beautiful atmosphere and I was extremely happy when I... went to the toilet. On the doors and walls, slavic national songs and poems lyrics were written everywhere. My slavic soul was full of happiness.

It was very nice to find vegan food in Katowice. The waitress was really nice (she spoke English) and knew which dishes were vegan and which weren't. We arrived at lunchtime, so the restaurant was a bit crowded (it seems it's very popular place).

This place was a life saver when I was travelling in Poland. The staff were friendly and some spoke english. It was a little difficult finding the place as there was no sign outside but once inside it was nicely decorated with nice wallpaper and attractive lighting. My meal was 11 Zloty which include a chunk of lasagne (there was many to choose from: mushroom, tomato and cheese, spinach, lentil etc) and that came with the salad bar which had typical Polish veg (beetroot, grated cabbage etc) the spinach lasagne was nice!! I recommend this place!
