Very good - Edit
Almost everything I had was amazing. I didn’t care for the cashew chicken it was too salty, but everything else was great! Staff were super nice as well.

The Best! - Edit
Amazing all vegan Chinese food! We love to order a huge take-out order when we have a big group of friends over. All of our non-veg friends love the food as well, they say it's way better! Reasonable prices for a ton of food.

Outstanding Food & Friendly Service - Edit
Our group from NW VEG had a Chinese New Year banquet meal here today. We were 50 people. We took up 5 banquet tables and enjoyed a meal of 8 courses. The food was absolutely outstanding; each one had its taste and texture. We started with appetizer of Bean Curd Skin (5 spice flavor & slightly sweet) & Scallion cakes (crispy), then Coconut Pumpkin (kabocha) soup (rich, fragrant, filling). Then we had House Chow Mein, YuShan Eggplant, Mushroom & Bok Choy. These dishes were all scraped clean. People were really crazy about the food. Then my favorite dish Shancun Bean Curd Sheet. This is made with an herb shancun, which is delectable, and bean curd sheet, which is made from pressing many layers of bean curd skin together into thick sheets. These were very tender yet substantial. The last 2 dishes were Sizzling Platter & Lamb Hot Pot. These were delicious but we had left overs because we were full. The wait staff were cheerful, friendly, and responded to our requests for this & that in good order. They were not rattled by our large party. The chef even came out to take our appreciative applause and thanked us for coming. We were very pleased by our experience at this dependable Chinese Vegan restaurant.

Yum! - Edit
Recently got takeout because I was feeling nostalgic for Chinese food that I remember from my childhood. Ordered house special chow main, beef and green beans, seafood and chicken fried rice, and dumplings. It was all the comfort food yumminess that I was hoping for!

Whenever we travel to Portland, Yuan Su is the first place we go. Every dish has been fantastic. The service is great. The restaurant is clean. The prices aren’t steep. Best Chinese food I’ve had...vegan and non-vegan!

Great new find - Edit
Our local NW Veg had a Chinese New Year festival here today and it was great with a multi course meal for all of us to enjoy. It is in a part of town that does not have much in the way of vegan options.

Big Portions - Edit
The food here tastes amazing and the portions are huge. My only two complaints is it can get a little pricey and I wish they had vegan cream cheese wontons or a vegan po po platter. Other then that this place is great if your in the mood for chinese.

Not good - Edit
We had terrible stomach aches after eating here. Mine came after an hour and husband shortly after. We were sick the next day with digestive issues. :(

Is it possible you and your husband are somewhat gluten intolerant and didn't know? I, personally, can tolerate wheat well most of the time. Things like bread and pasta are fine, but when vital wheat gluten is a primary ingredient I can get pretty sick. Some of the "meats" my friends and I got seemed a little seitan-y, but I didn't actually ask what they were made of. Anyway, just a thought ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Sorry you did not have a good experience here.

The restaurant was clean and well-staffed. Very attentive service and amazing food with attention to detail. Each dish was served quick and hot with a smile. The restrooms were clean and spacious and the restaurant itself had a very open feel. We had the veggie pork fried rice, veggie kung pao chicken, spring roll house beef noodle, and sour soup and veggie shrimp. We ended our meal with a delicate Sesame ball and beautiful scoop of vanilla coconut ice cream.

My stomach felt weird all day with the feeling you get when you are seriously hungry. I've ate and the pain/uncomfortable feeling didn't leave. I had the #4 combination plate.

Cons: something off the next day after eating the food.

Veggie chicken - Edit
Me and my SO picked up this on our way home and we were so happy with the veggie chicken that we almost went back for more. The egg rolls were also a star all on their own. We will definitely be going back.

Good food - Edit
The food here was excellent. The "beef" was eerily beeflike, so I prodded and inspected it to make sure it wasn't actually beef. The chicken wasn't as spot on, but the flavor and texture was great.

Delicious, fast, friendly fare - Edit
Ordered General Tso's chicken and Hot & Sour Soup, both excellent and brought out in record time. Best part was when couple sat next to me and the husband, who was not even vegetarian, and was a first-time diner at Yuan Su, exclaimed to the server how wonderful the food was, that he was astounded the dish was not meat, and that he did not miss animal products one bit. I also like that when you are seated, the server tells you up front that everything is vegan. No guesswork involved.

kung pao chicken, chicken fried rice, an eggroll and barbecued pork with hot mustard was amazing! just like i remember from all those years ago, dinner special #2 in a funky building formerly a nightclub perhaps? decent service with super nice people running the place. happy to find openly described "chinese food" in a crowded town of delicious hipster joints. lots of parking.

Great service, good food - Edit
I haven't had restaurant-style Chinese food in quite a while because the menu options are often so limited, or because I need things to be substituted or left out. Not so with this menu. I can eat EVERYTHING here!
Read moreI scoped this place out while grocery shopping in Portland after work and ordered some potstickers and the #2 dinner combo (spring roll, ham fried-rice, bbq pork, kung pao chicken). The potstickers were fine, not quite what I was used to flavor-wise, but nice and crisp on the bottom and not soggy. The bbq pork was almost exactly what I remember the meat version tasting like years ago, and the texture was also very close - definitely something I would eat an entire order of by myself, complete with lots of hot mustard. The fried rice was also very tasty, with veggies that weren't mushy. The kung pao chicken had real vegetables which I enjoyed, but it wasn't really very spicy and the veg chicken itself wasn't the greatest, so I kept to the veggies because they were good. And while spring rolls aren't really authentic Chinese food, the spring roll I had with my meal was fresh, hot, and delicious and I could eat five of them.
Overall, if I could give this place 4.5 stars, I would. I will definitely be coming back!
