The restaurant has a lot of vegan options and everything else is vegetarian. I can really recommend the mango lassi! Price is good. (For naan with palak ~1900)

The roti was so fluffy and the curry very mild, how I like it. Most of the menu is vegan. Some items are gluten-free. Unfortunately, the breads like naan are not. They serve unfiltered tap water, which is a minus for me.

Regarding your comment on the tap water, we understand your concern. To clarify, the tap water we serve is groundwater, not the city-supplied water, and it’s used for drinking purposes in both our restaurant and the Japanese restaurant downstairs. The building owner has a special permission from the City Office to manage this for both establishments. We always aim to ensure the highest quality and safety for our guests.

Some of the best curry I've had - Edit
Such a friendly and hospitable restaurant. The staff were so friendly, it felt like home. The food itself was amazing - I had the butter tofu masala, garlic naan and the hummus appetiser. You could tell it was all freshly made, and it was soooo delicious.
Read moreThe atmosphere was also great, it was a small place so it was quite intimate but not cramped. You could hear the cooking from the open kitchen, smell the spices cooking, and all in all it was a great experience.
It's also very accessible, just a small walk from the main shopping streets of Shijo-Kawaramachi.
The only downside was how busy it was for such a small place. We had to queue for at least 30 minutes as we'd managed to hit a busy period, but the wait was worth it. I felt bad for the staff as they were rushed off their feet, though it calmed down after a while.
It felt a little strange having Indian when Japanese food has so much to offer, but I didn't regret it for a second, even before the aroma of the place hit!

This might have been my favorite meal in Kyoto! We received a small cup of delicious complimentary soup upon sitting down. Ordered several dishes, all were incredible. So wonderful that they veganize most of the dishes.
