Disappointing food experience - Edit
We had high expectations due to the large number of good reviews of Ain Soph. We have ordered the „Soy cutlet burger“ with fries, the „Teriyaki deep fried soy on rice“ and a pancake. Portion size and the food at all doesn’t represent a fair value. The burger is the epitome of junk food and comes with sprinkles of fries and a curry ketchup. The deep fried soy on rice is pretty basic dish and won’t surprise you with anything. As dessert we had a pancake with blueberry’s, vanilla icecream, heavy cream and some fruits. The pancake is more relatable to a cake batter and probably not what you expect from a pancake.
Read moreThe place at all is a bit out of shape and worn down and does not represent the Japanese standard.
The staff was pretty polite and nice.
I cannot recommend this place.
Pros: Nice staff
Cons: Low effort food, Price, Taste

Super delicious pancakes! - Edit
I was excited to try the strawberry pancakes. They only make a limited number per day and I was lucky they had some when I dined. I had the karaage chicken too but the pancakes were the star of the show!

Die Burger und die Pommes waren sehr lecker. Die Portionen könnten etwas größer sein aber es hat sich seht gelohnt.

Nice place, decent food - Edit
The wooden interior has a nice vibe. Unfortunately the pancakes were sold out by the evening so that was quite saddening, we've visited the Tokyo branches but this one has smaller menu sadly but we still enjoyed the food. They still have some bakery items you can buy to take away (snacks/gifts).

Pros: Ain soph food/drink, Nice getaway from the manic area, Friendly staff
Cons: Limited menu, Pancakes prone to selling out

Good restaurant - Edit
The burger was good. Not out of this world but not bad either. The size is decent. It was lacking sauce and they ran out of 'cheese' today so they deducted 100¥ from the price which I find very nice.
Read moreThe side salad (500¥) was really tasty but pretty small.
The apple juice (~800¥) was very nice but a bit expensive aswell in my opinion.
But the portion is enough to fill one up and the restaurant is located in a very busy area so it is still a good place to go to if you are in the area and are craving some vegan food.
Pros: Apple juice, Nut salad
Cons: A bit expensive for what you get

Used to be better - Edit
I haven't been here in a few years since it's always full, but the quality decreased quite a bit from what I remember.
Read moreIt was also confusing that a lot of stuff was sold out. Food is still solid, but I miss the chicken burger and matcha pancakes 😭

Vegan fusion cuisine in a cozy atmosphere - Edit
Vegan fusion cuisine in a cozy atmosphere, located near major attractions and shopping streets. I enjoyed the salad and deli plate, which came with a massive serving of salad and fried veggies, onion dressing, rice, karaage, and soy cutlet. You can add on sides or a drink for a reasonable price. Their white wine was light and refreshing on a hot day. Prices are OK by Kyoto standards.
Read moreService could've been a bit friendlier though, as my waitress came around a few times, appearing quite impatient, as I was deciding on my order.

The atmosphere was great, the food was amazing and service was so quick! I got the Cheese burger and kara-age to share with my partner, both were incredible, but prepare for a messy meal! I also got the 'Chorus' tea, and it was divine. A wonderful experience all round.

Basic - Edit
Very basic western inspired vegan food. We had the green curry and the soy chicken cutlet burger. The curry was very plain. The burger was big and overly saucy. The choice of set includes about 6 fries and a glass of beer. The set was confusing and not clearly explained.

So glad we managed to try Ain Soph when in Kyoto, the food was incredible and brought out fast!
Read moreThe karaage was really delicious as was the dipping sauce, the teriyaki fried tofu was also incredible and altogether really filling.
Being able to get a soya matcha latte was also just the cherry on the cake.
Can see why they are so highly rated, would 100% recommend if you can make it!
Pros: Amazing food, Lovely staff

A quiet and pleasant place, the dish we ordered was fresh and simply delicious!! We took the hamburger with chips, there are also desserts that look excellent but we didn't get to taste, we'll save it for the next time we come back. Highly recommended!

Delicious vegan burger - Edit
We came here to have some dinner, the restaurant was actually about to close up, but still allowed us to come in and eat. The food was delicious and I was so glad to be able to eat in a fully vegan restaurant in Kyoto, since eating vegan in Jaoan can be a challenge sometimes. The staff was friendly and the food tasted great.
