Vegan diner food?! - Edit
This is one of my favorite places to go because of the atmosphere and the plethora of food options. I’ve tried nearly all the frappes and loved them, so I appreciate that they have specials once in a while too. The vegan omelettes are my favorite, never had anything like them before. The chik’n & waffles and buffalo Mac and cheese were also great when I tried them. The giant gyro was a bit disappointing in terms of flavor, lacking something, but that wouldn’t deter me from trying anything else from here.

Best Brunch in Greater Boston - Edit
I’ve been coming here since I was a local student craving good vegan food over a decade ago. You have to picture all the diner food that vegans don’t normally eat, and imagine that there was a universe where it all could be vegan, and that place would be called Veggie Galaxy.
Read moreI remember that the same owner (I think) used to have a pizza place in Harvard Square called Veggie Planet. It was good as well, too bad that didn’t last!
Here’s hoping Veggie Galaxy continues to delight the world with its wonderful fare!!

Cambridge Institution - Edit
Born out of the fun but way more modest VEGGIE PLANET restaurant in Harvard Square, I've been going to Veggie Galaxy since the literal day it opened. It's been quite cool to see the menu expand and get better and better as time goes on. There's so many great dishes, from the sandwiches like the reuben and chopped cheese, to the chicken and waffles (one of the better vegan attempts I've had anywhere), to the new mac n cheese variants (pepperoni mac and cheese? so weird but SO delicious), to the awesome weekly specials, and the great deserts. Staff are friendly, food is great, if you're looking for fun super tasty diner food that works for veg, vegan AND omni friends (no meat but they have "regular" cheese and egg as an option, though everything can be made vegan and is often by default), this is pretty much THE place for greater Boston. Other places have some good veggie/vegan options, but none have the expansive veg/vegan menu of this place.

Best Vegan Spot in the State - Edit
This has got to be the best place in the state every single food option here can be made vegan and it is absolutely delicious. This is a good spot for any person who is looking to stay away from everything that a vegan person would stay away from, for me it’s dairy. #Veganuary

one of boston’s best - Edit
in my opinion, veggie galaxy might be one of boston’s best vegan-friendly restaurants. everything on the menu sounds delicious, and most of it is. i highly recommend this to folks visiting the area. it’s also nice knowing that everything can be made vegan - that is exciting and also overwhelming all at once. I LOVE THIS PLACE and i wish it was open 24/7 like diners sometimes are

Get the matcha frapp!! 🍵 - Edit
If you’re like me and you’re in the constant pursuit of the elusive Matcha Softserve and anything adjacent to it, you will absolutely love the matcha frapp (more like a milkshake) here. I did not expect an Americana diner in Boston to have such fresh, fragrant matcha but here we are. I forget what the names of what we ordered were but all the savory was 10/10 (tbh the French toast was unimpressive but if you’re in the mood for sweets by all means go for it). My friends were obsessed w the vegan bacon. Wish they wouldn’t stock Zionist yo egg though!

Tasty vegan diner food - Edit
Pleasant vegetarian/vegan diner in Cambridge, I stopped in and got the "Mac 'n Stack", which is a breaded fried seitan cutlet with plant based bacon on Mac and "cheese" waffles, which is probably the least healthy thing I've eaten in a while. Was pretty good! Friendly wait staff, good food, decent location. Would go again.

So glad we ate here. My husband who isn't vegan loved this place and was saying we should come back before we were even through with the meal! The food was amazing! Items that aren't vegan on the menu can be made to be plant based. I could even have the desserts here! I will definitely be going back here! Did I mention they serve breakfast all day?!

Comfort food to the max! - Edit
This place is wonderful, a diner that really cares about quality. I'm in Boston on a trip from Alaska and went twice. This is vegan comfort food and junk food done extremely well. The cocktails- phenomenal! The ranch- tangy, creamy, herby- top notch.
Read more*All items mentioned are vegan
The show stoppers:
-the Tuesday special fried oyster mushrooms, the breading was fab!
-The brussle sprout ap, comes with an agave sauce and a bleucheese dressing
-the chocolate martini
-the chocolate chip cookie cheesecake- the crust is made of cookie 😆
-and most of all, the blueberry pancakes! They taste like buttermilk pancakes- and the whipped cream was fab.
I also had the steak frites, and that was pretty good 4/5. They have lovely salads as well, which I was surprised to see- a big variety of mixed leafy greens, roasted chickpeas and plenty of crisp veggies!
The mid items:
-the new england clam chowder was too bland and mostly just tastes like potato chowder.
-Their hollandaise is not good, but hollandaise is almost never good in restraunts, vegan or not. I always have to ask for a lemon wedge and give it a lil squeeze.
-I did not try the waffles, I have never had good vegqn waffles, so I am warry. I asked a server if they were light and crispy or dense and chewy, and they said dense. So if you're picky about them like me, maybe stear clear.
If I lived here I would try everything eventually 😭 now I gotta go back to vegan food wasteland 🥲
Forgive the messy photos, I forgot to take them before we dug in 😅

The amount of choice is overwhelming! - Edit
I wish we had somewhere like this in the UK! An amazing amount of options, cute diner atmosphere and delicious food. We had the matcha frappe, stuffed French toast with banana caramel, a Reuben sandwich and biscuits and gravy. Would be visiting again if we had more time in Boston.

Diner food - Edit
This is not my favorite food genre, but it was well executed. We actually came here twice because the location was pretty convenient (right by the Central stop on the redline in Cambridge). On my first visit, I got the gyro. The gyro meat reminded me more of pastrami than gyro meat, so I’m not sure if this was a mixup or if that’s just how it was supposed to be. It was ok, but I wouldn’t get it again. My partner got the vegan buffalo mac, which was really tasty but too heavy for me. On the second visit we got the cauliflower wings, the breakfast bowl with scrambled tofu and my partner got the chicken and waffles. The buffalo sauce was really tasty but the wings were again too heavy. The breakfast bowl was ok though I didn’t really care for the tofu scramble. I might try their other vegan egg option if I come back. My partner really liked the chicken and waffles but I didn’t try it. I thought it was weird it came with powdered sugar, but maybe that is normal for this dish.

Surpassed Expectations and Then Some - Edit
I had been thinking about this visit for months. And I will still be thinking about it for months to come.
Read moreFor starters, the customer service was excellent! The impeccable service perfectly complimented the cozy vibe of this classic diner. My server, Hannah, was so personable and welcoming and she guided me through some of the best things on the menu! She highly recommended their vegan cheese sauce and I think that was my favorite part. Everything on their menu is vegetarian and everything can easily be made vegan! All of their milkshakes and desserts are vegan as-is. I was in heaven.
My order consisted of an earthy matcha milkshake, a satiating reuben sandwich and crispy waffle fries, a side of their tantalizing cheese sauce and a slice of tres leches cake for dessert. Everything was delicious. I’m a baker and my only critique is the tres leches cake was not soaked enough— but it had good flavor!
I will most definitely return and try some other menu items like their mac and cheese. It’s made with the same cheese sauce that was incredibly addicting and perfectly seasoned. I’d dip anything in that 🤣
For me, the highlight was their STUNNING cake display with perfectly crafted cakes, spinning in golden light. I was mesmerized and choosing one slice was the hardest decision, but a good one at that. Looking at all of these darling desserts inspired me creatively, which is the best feeling for any artist to feel.
I left feeling comforted, emotionally and physically. I cannot wait to return. This was my favorite restaurant experience of the entire year!

Totally broke my diet a few times on a recent trip to Boston to eat at Veggie Galaxy. A friend brought me 10 years ago and I thought about their stuffed French toast many times over the years. If you want a good diner meal, vegan or not, Veggie Galaxy won’t disappoint. Amazing desserts and fun atmosphere. Very nice welcome and service here too.

New Vegan Steak & Eggs! - Edit
Tried the new vegan steak & eggs dish at veggie galaxy! They use offbeast (formerly known as moojimeats) steak and you-egg and it comes with a side of home fries! The steak was perfectly crispy and flavorful and had a chimichurri sauce on top. The runny yolk on the yo egg was impressive but do wish it had a bit more flavor! But once you combine everything, it created a perfect bite!
