Huge menu, very good - Edit
Delicious meal. Green Curry was the standout and the Tom Yum soup had great kick. The menu is massive, lots of options. I could go 10 times and still not have tried everything

Delicious but Oily - Edit
I first ordered take-out from here and really enjoyed it. Great flavor and I was happy for another Vegan Thai place apart from Urban Thai which I usually go to.
Read moreSo of course I came in again to dine-in with my mother, the place is a cute hole in the wall and it was mildly busy. We ordered crab rangoon, orange chicken, yellow curry, and chicken satay. It was cooked timely and service was nice. It was all delicious but sadly we both ended up being sick on the toilet the rest of the day.
I still had some left over orange chicken and crab rangoons, upon heating them up the oil from the dishes separated and there was so much of it, no wonder we got sick! Maybe it was an off day but I'm not in a hurry to try again.

The Best Thai Tea - Edit
The Thai tea has a lot of flavor and the right amount of sweetness! I got the drunken noodles meal with 2 spring rolls, and salad for 16.50. It was a ton of food. The noodles were really good but I wasn’t obsessed with the tofu. It tasted bland and it was a little too soft for me. I would come back and try a different protein.

Vegans and Non Vegans will Enjoy. - Edit
Love the food, nice staff and every entrée - like orange chicken and, pad thai are 10/10. I have eaten in, gotten take out and brought friends and everyone agrees that the food feeds our belly’s and souls. Vegans and Non Vegans I bring here and the expectations are met and surpassed. If you have the privilege to come eat at the vegan plate, do it. Dessert is A as well.

all time favorite ❤️!!! - Edit
this is one of my top favorite restaurants in the chicago area.. ive been going here since 2018 and the food has always been consistently good. my favorite dish is the katsu curry & you absolutely need to get a thai tea every time you visit. i tried one of their sushi rolls recently and it's also very, very good. i also like their kung pao soy chicken. i don't think you can choose anything wrong 🐮❤️ its a small little place but its cute, and the owner is very sweet.

Incredible vegan sushi - Edit
This is the best vegan sushi we've had so far! My omni partner did not miss fish at all. Ordered a carryout on Thanksgiving and the owners were so nice. We really liked the gyoza and the sushi. The pad Thai was also good. Everything was delicious, freshly prepared, and beautiful. Will definitely be back for more!

I came for a little early dinner as I had missed lunch. Ordered the chicken katsu curry and a Thai tea lemonade. Drink excellent. The food was decent but not super flavorful. The crunch on the katsu was nice. Super friendly service and fast

One of the best - Edit
We were really surprised by the great taste. First we had some fish nuggets, and they were super crispy and just delicious. Then we had a Pad Thai and Tom Yam Goong Ramen, spicy, and it was just as good if not better!

Fantastic Thai!! - Edit
I can’t believe it took me so long to try this place, I’ll definitely be going here regularly! Lots of gluten free options, though fryer is shared with gluten items. They told me they clean pans before making things for people with gluten allergies, and my girlfriend with celiac didn’t feel sick after the meal😄food was fresh and tasty, can’t wait to try more menu items!

I got the Fried Rice w/ extra beef. Overall pretty good. Not blown away, but good food. The vegetables were definitely fresh. In hindsight I would have gotten the pepper steak instead.

Amazing! - Edit
Good ambiance and friendly staff. The appetizer tofu miso soup was perfect on a chilly spring day. The entree didn’t disappoint either—I will be dreaming about the kung pao chicken for a longggg time! And the banana spring rolls were so good—definitely try it if you are craving something sweet.

Really wanted to like this place... - Edit
We ordered ahead due to travelling through Chicago on a road trip. Upon arrival, we learned that their "system had an error" and our order was not printed so we waited in the restaurant for about 15 minutes while they prepared our food. As a result, it felt that our dishes were cooked in haste, as several of the vegetables were still partially raw and the soy chicken was really, really soft. We were surprised by the red(?) rice with our dishes, as we've never encountered that before when eating Thai. I was appreciative that they took such effort to ensure we got our food, but we were quite disappointed by the quality. I'd be open to trying this place again to see if dining in the venue resulted in a different experience.

Sorry you had a bad meal. Vegan Plate is one of my favorite places in Chicago, and I’m a big fan of the family the runs it, so I may be a bit biased. :)
Read moreI can’t say I have ever had a bad meal at VP. They are amazingly consistent. The “chicken” they used for the dish you ordered is likely the thinly sliced tvp, as opposed to the “chicken” they use for the orange chicken. Some people love it, I think it’s good, but I go with the “soy beef.”
The “purple rice“ is brown rice. I much prefer it to white rice. Brown rice is served in Thailand. But, just like here in the United States, most restaurants serve white rice. That’s what you are used to when you go to a Thai restaurant. That doesn’t mean that the purple rice is not authentically Thai.

Vegan asian comfort food - Edit
If you want classic asian comfort food that is vegan, this is the place. The food is good, not great, but it perfectly scratches the itch for Friday-night takeout or a nice, quick dinner date. Would recommend and will be going back.

One of the best places ever! - Edit
My husband and I went here during vacation and loved it! He got the Spicy Fried Rice with “shrimp,” and asked for medium spice, which was perfect for him. I got the Drunken Noodles with soy beef, mild spice, and it was so good! We also split Spring Rolls, which were good. Would definitely come back here again!
