Bad experience - Edit
My boyfriend and I chose the menu of the day and asked explanation about how it works, because you can order "one main" for 7,90 euro or "two main dishes" for 11,90. The attendant suggested we could choose the two main dishes and share everything. So that was what we did. We ordered one bottle of water (it was included in the menu), two main dishes and one coffee (it was supposed to be included in the combo because the dessert of the menu was not available anymore). Besides that we had beers and croquettes. When the bill was put on the table, they had charged us two menus of the day (7,90 + 7,90) and the coffee. About the coffee we wouldn't mention, because I had a decaf one, but my boyfriend complained about the two menus. The conversation was:
Read more- You charged us two menus, while we had a double menu to share.
- Yeah, but it doesn't exist "a menu to share", it's one menu per person.
- But your colleague suggested this "two main dishes" for us.
- Sorry, maybe you didn't understand right or my colleague didn't explain the way it works.
- We didn't have two menus at all. How you explain we ordered only one water and one coffee? If we had had two menus we would get two drinks, two plates and two dessert as everybody else.
- Sorry, you misunderstood something.
We were there the year before and the same mess happened. That time we thought it was our fault, we thought we didn't get the rules (although we speak portuguese and can understand spanish). But this time the first attendant emphatically suggested this option to us. And the second attendant didn't call the first one to clear this situation up. It was rude and disrespectful. It's not about the money, because we usually tip 5 to 10% of the amount. It's just not fair to be treated like dumb customers. Of course this time we didn't let any tip and we'll never go back.

If I was you I would avoid going to this place. Their snacks are nothing special and they serve really small portions. The employees there were a bit arrogant for whatever reason. Of course, it's up to you going to this place and feeling disappointed afterwards.

Great food, one of Madrid's best - Edit
Food tastes great even though they skimp a bit on the portion size, as I stated on another review. This is not a problem with the restaurant itself, more of a spanish pattern I'm recognizing along my experiences.
Read moreNevertheless, Vega is by far one of Madrid's best vegan spots, where you can have decent tasty food on a plate, rather than on a bun. They do serve a burger, either way, but I reccomend the seitan steak.
The pasta with soy balls is nice too, but me and other people as well found the yogurt dressing a bit too tangy.
If you plan on having dinner after 21h, be sure to make a reservation.
Pros: Excellent food, Staff is super friendly, Good value for money

yummy vegan meal! - Edit
we had a fabulous vegan meal at Vega today! We shared croquets, three dips (a smoked eggplant, beet humus and guacamole), a salad with quinoa and roasted pears, potatoes, and tofu meatballs on quinoa pasta. Everything was outstanding.

One of the Best! - Edit
Before you go, be sure to make reservations. They were kind enough to let us sit at the bar for dinner and when the people who made reservations didn't show up, we got their table! Brownie points for this.

We went to VEGA two days in a row. Both the tapas and the main dishes are very nice. The vegan cheesecake was delicious. There is an English menu and the waiters speak English as well.

Amabilidad y buena comida - Edit
Es difícil conseguir mesa sin reserva ya que el local es bastante pequeño. Sin embargo son muy amables e intentan darte la mejor atención posible. Y la comida buenísima. Un 10 para la lasaña de calabacín. Las croquetas también buenísimas.

Went in October - Edit
First time I visited, it wasn't possible to eat there that evening. We made a reservation for the next night, and were very happy with our experience. Good food, small servings, but fun experience for a vegan in Spain as most Tapas and restaurants in general are meat heavy. I was with a carnivore who enjoyed our croquettes, and patatas bravas.

Not outstanding - Edit
The place is of some tavern-ish style, which is not quite my cup of tea. The courses are not outstanding and the relation of taste (quality) to the price is not as high as expected. The dishes contain too much flour and fat (greasy) and too few vegetables, for my taste.
Read moreAlso the place is very crowdy, so forget about about a quiet and elegant dinner. Reservation is also recommended - two of three times I visited it, it was full.

Favorite place to eat good and healthy vegan food! - Edit
The staff is really nice, the food is really good and the place is really cozy... What do you want more? Whether it is to impress your meat-eating family who thinks vegan food is not good or to have a friendly meal, VEGA is the perfect place! I brought to this place my mom who always complain about vegan food being not good and she loved it so much that she wanted to go back before leaving Spain!

My favourite place in Madrid - Edit
Before I moved to Norway I used to go at least 3 times a month. It is a very comfortable space, with really good food, I personally love the chilli. One of the greatest things of this place is that they offer a menu during week days that consist of a soup, a main dish and a dessert and that does not reach 8euros. The staff are also very nice and friendly. The only "bad thing" is that it is a very small restaurant and very succesful, which means that gets busy very soon.

Tasty and creative food and quick and friendly service - Edit
We ordered two Tapas and two mains. No dessert because we were in a hurry. The waiter assured us that the food will be served quickly. The food was delicious and presented nicely. The wine and the home-made limonade accompanied the food well.

Elaborate cuisine, friendly - Edit
I ordered a ceviche (7 €50), consisting of mushroom, sweet potatoe, some spaghettis, carrot and zucchini, in a sauce of lemon mixed with some drops of agave sirup, and with some chilli (if I am not mistaken), served cold, very tasty and generous in mushrooms. I also had a 4 €50 aperitivo, consisting of three small entries to be chosen ; in my case : sauerkraut, oriental houlos and egg-plant purée, all good.
Read moreThe staff is friendly.
Given its deserved success, it is hoped that the restaurant will increase its space. It is at present necessary to reserve if you are two or more. On evening, if you are alone and come at the opening time, you may find a seat at the middle table.
Pros: Elaborate cuisine, Friendly staff, Moderate price
Cons: Few seats
